Colt McCoy is not part of the QB controversy in D.C.

Colt McCoy is not part of the QB controversy in D.C. but he should be.

When RG3 went down for the 1000th time, Kirk Cousins started week three. He passed for 427 Yards, with 3 TD's and one INT. A QB controvery quickly erupted in Redskin land calling for Cousins to win the job over RG3.

Fast-forward to week four and Cousins throws 4 INT's and loses a fumble.

The QB controversy continues, but the RG3 fans are winning now.

Colt McCoy has been left out of the discussion, in spite of the fact that McCoy has more than twice the experience of Cousins. . . and no, no, no, I'm not talking about McCoy vs. RG3, we all know by now that McCoy is a backup, but we also know that McCoy is unlikely to throw 4 INT's in one game. Furthermore, we know that the purpose of the backup QB is to not necessarily win the game but, certainly not to lose the game.

Cousins threw 4 INT's in his 6th NFL start. McCoy was baptized in the fire of facing PIT and BAL defenses twice a year. I would trust him to be able to read defenses better than Cousins.

Colt very well may be the best QB they have right now. Throw him in and see what he can do. RGKnee is toast

To think we almost mortgaged the farm for him.

...

Not so much a controversy as it is a bunch of over-reacting fans who think 4 TD's makes Cousins a god, then a week later think 4 interceptions means he completely bites. Just the typical "you're great then you suck" fan mentality. Nothing new here.

What REALLY interests me(and it's NOT Colt McCoy or the Redskins) is why anyone would feel the need to create a Redskins post on a Browns board about their 3rd string QB at 4 am in the morning?????? Does this shit keep you up at night?? Do you think we are worried about Washingtons 3rd string QB issues????? Inquiring minds want to know.

Thought that was "Enquiring Minds"...

Either way, good questions...

Kind of yes and kind of no. Inquiring minds is the catch phrase coined by the National Enquirer years ago. Mispelled intentionally for advertising, then coined and copyrighted and now a real phrase spelled correctly with an "I". But thanks for the correction anyway.

OK, well. . . thanks for your thoughtful reply.

I'm in SE Asia, so yur 4:00AM is my 4:00PM.

I became a fan of Colt when he was with CLE and it's been my interest to follow the ten or so former Browns starting QB's who are still in the NFL, (as well as the ten or so others who are out-of-football.)

Suddenly, one month later, Colt is making headlines with his win on Monday Night.

Oh no ! I'm right again. Which is notable because it happens so rarely.

Thanks again for your thoughtful reply.

I too have a general interest in ex-Browns QBs....especially when they square off against each other like last night.

Always liked Colt McCoy. He was a Texas boy that proved himself a winner. I believe he had the record for most wins as a QB when he left college. He came to Cleveland and had absolutely no talent around him and ended up hurt and gone. I wish him the best of luck in his career and hope he gets a legitimate shot to display his talent.

He's not a dickwad, he's just the NFL's current hype for a black elite QB.

Doesn't sound like he's getting much hype to me, everyone seems down on him.

NFL is a "Prove it" league, has nothing to do with skin color. Plus, you are judged on your actions, you can be white and win two Super Bowls, but if you go around assaulting woman everyone thinks you are a diuchenozzle and you dont get any endorsement deals.

You simply can't be this dumb..........but then you do it week after week.

What exactly are you saying? That the NFL explicitly hypes Griffin because he's a black man?

I see a lot more praises for Andrew Luck on the NFL channel, which makes sense, because he's better.

Hate to tell ya- he's not elite, had a nice rookie year. Leads the league in overhyped. Go cram another Subway RG III. I wouldn't trade Hoyer for him right now, straight up.

I'm surprised it wasn't PoG who bumped it.

Colt McCoy wasn't made for the AFC North regardless, even if he does turn out somewhere.

This has been my exact position on the guy who has never won a game in the cold, not ever, not in college or high school.

Plenty of QB's come from warm or mild places and have Hall of Fame carreers in cold places, like Favre, Bradshaw, and Brady, but McCoy never looked comfortable in the cold, so I renamed him, Cold McCoy.

NEWSFLASH: RG3 benched. Colt McCoy to start Sunday at Colts.

Coach said, "He has plenty of experience losing games while playing for a last place team, so I thought this game would be perfect for him, based on his expreience."

Lol, I wonder who takes on RG3 next year. Seems like a good fit the the Jets.

The impression I got from the report was that they're basically giving up on this year, sacrificing McCoy to the pass rush and saving RG3 for next year, where they get their own first round pick for the first time in a few years, and will be under the cap as well.

I think they're absolutely mad if they don't line up a replacement for RG3 in the offseason.

Holmgren did get something right, by not giving up our future for that guy.

I said when he was drafted that he wouldn't last 5 years in the NFL
