Tour2ma
Nice read for my fellow O-line fanatics... "The surprise member on Clevelands offensive line has been John Greco. ProFootballFocus.com has the 29-year-old as the fourth best guard in the NFL. In the zone-blocking scheme, brought in by offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan, Greco's role changed to where hes now often rumbling down the field as a lead blocker. Greco's weight loss and his subsequent increase in athleticism has been a reason for many of the Browns big runs in 2014." http://www.clevelandbrowns.com/news/article-1/John-Greco-Browns-offensive-line-enjoying-early-season-success/19711b64-5b4e-42ac-ab88-dd50d680d371
thenew23
Not surprising. He's solid, and he's playing with a great group of guys on that line. I wasn't sure why so many people wanted us to fix the "right side" of the line. I get Schwartz because he's been a little inconsistent, but I had no concerns about Greco... as long as he can stay healthy...

Vers
A few things: --Cousins played RG at the beginning of the year because both Lava Man and Pinky were hurt. --Lava Man started the majority of games at RG last year. --Pinky got some time there, as well...........but not nearly as much as Lava Man. --I was really worried about our guards when I heard we signed Shanny. Lava, Pinky, and even Grecco worried me. I was pissed we didn't go after either Jon Asamoah, Schwatz;s brother, or Beadles. I would have even went after Albert or Veldheer from Oakland.........both would have been good RT's. I have to say that I think that Grecco has awed me this year. I got kicked off of DawgTalkers because I told a guy to get a fucking job. Oh my!!! But anyway, I had been praising Grecco each week. He is kicking ass! His seal blocks are outstanding. He is chipping on the double teams and getting to the second level. He is playing great. Glad to see I was wrong about him. I love the ZBS. When I coached high school, we ran a ZBS. It takes smarter guys. More agile guys. More cohesion. You have to be more technically sound. But man, if you get that, it is far superior to the Man [base] blocking system that most run because their big guys are too freaking stupid and lumbering to run the ZBS. Love the fact that Shanny brought in the ZBS and Grecco is thriving in this system.

Browns are bringing in guys (or guys already here) who fit. Probably why they let Gilkey go- not smart enough. But ya know- there's (supposed) fans already calling Gilbert a bust after 3 games. Tour2ma
I like how Greco lost weight to become a better zone blocker. --Cousins played RG at the beginning of the year because both Lava Man and Pinky were hurt. I must have missed that play... All about the system. Browns are bringing in guys (or guys already here) who fit. Probably why they let Gilkey go- not smart enough. May have been smarts, but I saw Gilkey as a road grader, power blocking type, not a finesse guy.
Frenchie
Never understood why we let go of Gilkey. I though he had a lot of up-side and was playing well (but what do I know)
TypicalBrowns
line has finally looked like we have the talent we have there, Greco, Schwartz and Bitonio are a great group to add to Mack and Thomas.Sucks we drafted Pierre Desir, would've much rather had a WR or another LB. Ppl are bitching about our first round, I think its the tail end of the draft that Farmer fucked up. He traded away alot of our picks towards the end. Could've used another Defensive player or WR
ballpeen
Never understood why we let go of Gilkey. I though he had a lot of up-side and was playing well (but what do I know) As was said earlier, I think the guy was too heavy in he foot. In this blocking scheme, the guys need to be able to move. Gilkey wasn't very nimble.

Mudfly
Just read a report rating this years rookie class for the first quarter......based upon performance.... THE #1 rated rookie = Joe Bitonio #13 = Terrence West #26 = Isiah Crowell #54 = Justin Gilbert Now...there are 64 picks in the first 2 rounds.....yet we have 4 of the top 54......and how Kirksey didn;t make the list is beyond me.... But....it is what it is....considering we have 2 of the top 13 players and they were taken in the 2nd and 3rd rounds...plus #26 who was picked as a freeby......Id say Mr. Farmer knows his shit..... Ahhhahaha....everybody has picks that suck.....I would like someone to show me another team that has 3 in the top 26, pulled from rounds OTHER than the first..... On an aside.....only 17 first rounders made the list, which means A LOT of teams aren't getting immediate production from their first round picks..... Hate to say it, but Cinn had a couple at 32 & 33....Pitt had Shazier at 15th, but he'll fall now that he's hurt....Ravens had Mosely at 8..... So, the early return has the Browns with the best "performing" draft in our division.....
Tour2ma
Agree... Shazier's durability was my concern with him... well that and lack of eyebrows...
