OK gft, since you didn't want a Browns/Steelers debate on a Steelers thread, tell us all about that SA vs. NZ rivalry. Is it the best going in the Rugby world, or is there like a Euro rivalry you would want to promote over it. Or maybe NZ vs. Fiji or Samoa?

It started as an 'FYI, these guys are out for at least a while' and it ends up with specifically you and one of our resident steeler fans going on and on and on and on and descend pretty quickly in to personal attacks rather than actually talking about the issue at hand - how will their LB corps cope without Jones/Shazier? Will Harrison make up for any of that loss? How about the already-suspect secondary without Ike?

 

Anyway, no, Fiji and Samoa don't have a full team worth a damn, so there's no real rivalry there. They're lethal in 7s, but in the full game, not so much. European rivalries are big, but not probably as big as AUS/NZ, I think. England and whichever other british team is doing well at the time is usually the rivalry. It's obviously got historical implications, but England/Scotland isn't that big, because Scotland haven't been good for a long time. France are just a level below, and Italy a level below them, so there's no rivalry there, really.

Escape to Victory - as I know it, maybe a different name in US? - now that was a great movie. Not in terms of anything cinematic, of course, but it brought together some of the all time greats on one field. Pele, Moore, Ardiles, specifically, were world class players in their prime. Not forgetting the 'legendary' John Wark. And Michael Caine and Sly attempting to 'blend in' with these ex-pros.

They were supposed to have one of the best defenses in the NFL, yet they gave up 39 points....to a team the prior week could score only 6 points vs. a team who was not supposed to have as good a D as the Panthers.
