Field goals

I was just saying the other day that this team has done well in the red zone this year, getting TD's vs FG's but it seems this team has regressed once again and once they get into the red zone they go backward!! So again we have become a FG kicking team again.

Hoyer being less impressive for the 3rd straight week once again!!

He has done just fine. 3 FGs is no sin when you are getting almost 150 yds and 9/14 passing in a half without giving away the ball.

I've seen enough from Hoyer to feel comfortable with him leading the offense in 2015, time to see if Manziel can sink or swim.

That Pittsburgh game was one of those games that they over achieved in. Manziel isn't any better, but they drafted him so they might as well see what he can do!

Had we been ahead 9-0 vs. Jacksonville at halftime, I think it would've played out pretty close to yesterday's game. Hoyer doesn't have to throw 41 passes. Jax has zero momentum at half.

I see field goals as victories when adding to a lead (the longer a team leads and the more the margin, the more it changes how the opponent must play) and when it changes the possession margin, when either ahead or behind (i.e. 6-0 to 9-0 creates a two-possession game).

Also factor in no Josh Gordon and mostly no Jordan Cameron when "going for the jugular." Hoyer's thrown 2 INTs. As nice a surprise as Hawkins, Austin and Dray have been (and Benjamin in Tennessee), if our running game stalls and we get 3rd and 9 in the red zone, three points isn't a bad ending. If the defense keeps going more like it's been the last 3.5 games, we've got a pretty good shot if we cobble together 20-25 points with no turnovers making the opponent go 80+ yards most of the times they get it.

No matter how it's happening, a Browns team scoring 21+ points in 6 of its first 7 games is better than anything in the last 15 years except what? maybe 2002? and Derek Anderson's hot streak? 21+ points in the next 5 (also Gordon back for the Atlanta game) and 3-2 (beat TB, ATL, BUF, ? vs. CIN, HOU) is pretty realistic, 4-1 would be gravy.

Hey CDL15, your Mother and I want to buy you some new pantyhose on your next Birthday when you become CDL16. Do you like crotchless ones for your boyfriends?

Idiot. " Nice Victory against ME?" What are you, the fucking village idiot? Let's see if bitch slapping you with a rubber schwantz helps you here. The Browns didn't exactly tear it up today, did they?

And my point about Field goals was DEAD ON you dumb ass. Had the RAIDERS not settled for 2 FGs, it would have been the Browns on the losing end. The point that I made was.......... Field Goals more often than not, lead to losses.

AG's post didn't at all contradict what I posted, numb nuts.

Field goals are never the best result on a drive, but ya gotta take the points no need to get worked up about it.

Jesus. Last week we went for it on 4th down in a similar position - 6-0, near the endzone - and when it failed, Pettine got lambasted because the Jags went down the field and scored. This time we took the points, and people are still complaining.

No pleasing some.

I will say it now a third time, to the guys who thought we would win 5 in a row including the Steeler win, I predicted 2-3 maybe 3-2 with a break. Not prolific, just being reasonable. We don't have dynamic coaches, and we don't have the big playmakers who can make a difference in dull games.

The Browns should be able to win this, but I think the odds right now favor the Raiders. We will see.

Gordon's return could give this team a shot in the arm. His presence...with the potential that opponents might have to double team him could make things open up for Hawkins/Miles/Cameron et al. And might even help the running game.

So again we have become a FG kicking team again...just one hour, into one game, and you say we have become a FG kicking team. Overreact much? We scored 23 points. And we have scored over 21 in 6 out of 7 games, making us one of the top scoring teams in the league. So we're a FGkicking team?? Hogwash.

Hoyer being less impressive for the 3rd straight week once again!! Less impressive than what? He won 2 out of the 3 games you're whining about.

So you can guarantee TDs by refusing to kick FGs?

I have yet to see a game losing FG with time expiring...
