Lol. Harvin for Thomas

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports Seahawks GM John Schneider phoned Browns GM Ray Farmer about a Percy Harvin-for-Jordan Cameron trade.

It obviously didn't go down, as Harvin was shipped to the Jets on Friday. Cameron is in the final year of his deal, and the Seahawks were eyeing tight end help with Zach Miller still hurt. Farmer wasn't interested in the deal. It's more interesting than anything else. Rapoport also learned that the Seahawks called the Broncos, Bucs, and Colts about Harvin, while ESPN's Adam Schefter adds the Seahawks asked for Julius Thomas from Denver. The trade deadline is October 28

wonder if he was the one that signed him? if the seahawks start to crumble a little more and people look back at this and realize the guy got hosed for 3 roster spots.........might be quite envious of ray farmer at that point.

I would've traded Cameron for Harvin and a pick and cut Harvin at the end of the season. Cameron is going to want probably $35 million over 4 with at least $17 guaranteed. You'd be on the hook for $7 million this season for Harvin then nothing else if he's cut. Letting Cameron walk is going to be very unpopular with Browns fans even though he isn't worth it.

As opposed to a transition tag and actually getting something for Cameron...? Nice.

You get nothing with the transition tag, you'd have to use the franchise tag to get anything. You could use the "non-exclusive" franchise tag but then you'd owe Cameron at least $8 million.

what kind of a shit pick are you gonna get from the Seahawks? They weren't gonna hand over a 1st rounder AND Harvin so bad deal. I wouldn't take a 1st rounder from the Seahawks anyway..not for Cameron. Camerons numbers are gonna be down this year cause of that injury so there's a good chance we get him for a little less anyway...which to me is a no brainer. Cameron is our Jimmy Graham, he's worth the money.

Would rather pay Cameron than have Harvin around taking up space when he isn't being a cancer. The Seahawks were so fed up with him that they were talking about cutting him out right. He fist fought two other WRs on the team leading up to the Super Bowl.

There's the danger. Cameron isn't even close to a top 10 TE but because the Browns are devoid off offensive weapons fans want to keep him. Cameron for a 1st rounder and Harvin would've been a steal. You cut Harvin and paid $7 million for what should be an impact player.

I agree that Cameron is overrated and more than likely not worth the money he'll ask for, but saying he isn't even close to a top 10 TE is a bit much...

  • 3 weeks later...

it still looks bad.

harvin is an angry diva who hates people and will be lucky to see 20 throws his way this year. cameron if healthy is a steady force on the browns offense and is a cool cat on and off the field.

polar opposites. i doubt farmer and pettine would even think of acquiring harvin at anytime for anything.

You'd rent Harvin for the rest of the season and could feed him the ball as much as you wanted. End of the season you cut him and you're left with a draft pick. Now you have to wonder about giving Cameron top 5 TE money when he seems like Mr. Glass.

He's had head, shoulder & groin issues the last 3 seasons, oh I forgot you don't actually pay attention. He hasn't played a full 16 in his career.

and he missed 3 weeks of practice AND a game because of a sore AC joint. I have a completely ruptured ac joint and guarantee you he could have played. Even the Browns said it wasn't a health issue, it was comfort issue. So,yeah, he doesn't like to play with pain. Plus, missing 3 games due to concussion is a big worry. It means he's not recovering well. Some do and some dont. It's not a knock on his toughness, per se, but if he is susceptible to concussions then they could happen with more frequency

you can't get stretch out your arms and catch balls then take a shot on that shoulder with a completely ruptured AC dude. I popped my AC when I played on the line and it would pop in and out everytime I tried to make a tackle or block someone...wasn't anywhere near a full rupture either. He gets tackled on that side once and he's out of the game. So let's ease up on the interwebtuffguy bs.
