hammertime
That time of year again!!! I could literally just copied and pasted last years opening thread because its the same suspects at the top of Div1 thru Div3. Colerain has a significant edge in Div1 returning almost half of their starters. Defending back-to-back State Champions St. Edwards will have an uphill battle this year after graduating D1 defensive player of the year, record setting qb and a Indiana recruit RB. St. Ignatius is always a threat with a large enrollment an Chuck Kyle as head coach. Mentor will benefit from a stronger schedule. Stow is another team that returns a major group of starters. The GCL in Cincy will most likely battle it out amongst themselves and face Wayne for the right to go to the Championship. Hoban is poised to repeat in Div3. Who are you pulling for this year? Any darkhorse teams out there this year?
The Gipper
The Wadsworth Grizzlies will rebound from a bad year. The Norton Panthers will make noise in their conference. And ain't no one who should sleep on the StVStM Fighting Irish The Garfield Rams will regain their once dominant position in the Akron City Series. hammertime
The Golden Rams finished #13 in Region3. Top 8 qualify for playoffs. They'll probably need a signature win against Buchtel to get in this year. I'll keep an eye for them. SVSM as always has speed. Ive got nothing on Norton or the Grizzlies ....I do like the new digs at Wadsworth Highschool though.
ATENEARS
I'm liking Mentor's chances. They are gonna be battle tested early on, and are returning enough starters and mixing in the right younger talent. They have "fresh" senior running back and a schooled Junior QB. Solid on both lines. They may hiccup among the tough schedule, but if they come out 3-1 or higher after the first three weeks, look out! I didn't think Ed's looked all that good in the ESPN opener. They are Top-3 in the North, but not dominate. Ed's only returns 5 starters. No word on Ignatius yet. They haven't played anyone. First test comes Saturday against Mentor. The Gipper
Hoban looked killer. Smoked Canton McKinley pretty bad.

hammertime
Mentor is dismantled by St. Iggy. Colerain survives a missed FG in OT to beat St. X Wayne is efficient in beating Moeller St. Edwards find a way to get to 2-0 by squeaking past Hoban Stow remains unbeaten Columbus teams Pickerington Central and Olentangy Liberty are definitely top 10 teams. Div2 is a log jam for the top 10 LaSalle is still at the top though. Div3 Hoban showed they can compete going toe to toe with Div1 State Champs right down to the wire. I have no clue on div4-
The Gipper
The Wadsworth Grizzlies will rebound from a bad year. My bad....no, they won't. Hammered 35-0 The Norton Panthers will make noise in their conference. Could still happen 1-1 And ain't no one who should sleep on the StVStM Fighting Irish Squeaker vs. Walsh Jesuit The Garfield Rams will regain their once dominant position in the Akron City Series. But won't be that succesful outside of it. Lost in a shutout to Lake
hammertime
Week 7 is in the books. Region 2 in Div 1 looks to have the strongest teams this year. Colerain, Wayne HH, St. X, Elder all are capable threats this year. Region 1 in Div 1 has a lot of 1 loss teams with Ed's, Iggy, Solon, Stow, McK and Mass.Jackson leading the pack. St. Edward vs. St. Ignatius in First Energy Stadium this year so someone will leave happy this year. Any surprise teams this year? Who's your favorite heading down the stretch? # weeks left of regular season games.
The Gipper
Quote How bizarre that a newbie would bring up Purdue on a High school football forum in a thread that has nothing to do with Purdue and which is 3 years old.
