So, so far we have had four play this year. RG3, McC, Kessler and Hogan. Not including clipboard jesus. How do you handle the situation when all are healthy? Who stays as the number one? Who stays? Who goes?

Who do you want for the remainder of the season and next year?

I have the feeling we are gonna add a few more names to that list. At least one

Well they have a bye in week 13 to get healthy

Geezzz this season *the BROWNS may set the all time NFL QB casualties list never to be broken.

(2017 BROWNS not allowed to play.)

+3. Cody with some decent protection has IMO already shown he is more than just a capable back up in this league, he will start and win football matches.

you say decent protection but in a different thread you said to trade j.t

O.K I will take you seriously when it comes to football talk((((((((((((((((((fucking sarcasm)))))))))))))))))

Don't forget the snaps that Pryor has taken at QB.

That means we have had 6 different guys play QB this year already. (including Whitehurst)

I tried to do some research on what team had the most different players play QB for a season, but could not find it.

Probably because 'play QB' isn't a stat. Throw a pass? Complete a pass? Throw a touchdown? Take a snap under center? Call a play?

They do have stats on "start a game". But in our case, neither Whitehurst nor Hogan have started...though they have played the position.

Hogan showed yesterday that he is not ready to be a #2.

  1. Kess
  2. McC
  3. Hogan

But I have no doubt a healed RG3 climbs Hue's board. I don't think he needs another look, but then I'm not personally invested in him.

I'll go ahead and say it (although I've been VERY reluctant to do so): Cody Kessler can be our starting QB for this year and beyond. Hue Jackson knows how to work with a QB, and Kessler is proof of this. People might say, "Well Jiggins, he never won a game", and I will tell those people that football is a team game. He can't kick a FG (Miami), and while he did throw that pick against the Redskins, it could've been a different story if the fumble call was correctly reversed. Now listen, I'm not saying Kessler is the next Tom Brady, but I've seen enough to think we actually found our guy. In the third round. And as a rookie.

Is Cody perfect? Hell no, of course not. The most recent injury (concussion) was a fluke thing caused by a passing knee to the head. Cody was falling down, and a guy ran by him. His knee caught the side of his head, and that's all it takes. Cody had to leave the game after an AMAZING shuffle pass to Gary, who also made an amazing play, and we scored shortly thereafter. I believe it was the SECOND risky shuffle-type pass that Cody attempted, but hey...it worked. I don't recommend that he continue to do these, mainly because the accuracy can be off, they are easy to pick off, and the ball doesn't travel quickly. I think Cody is crafty and has all the goods our team needs in order to cement our long-standing QB quandry.

What does Cody have to improve on? Well, the most obvious (to me) is he has to figure out a way to avoid taking some of these hard hits. I don't know how much of it is actually HIS fault, but I do know he can't take those kinds of shots and expect to keep getting up. Like I said, I'm not sure how much of this has to do with Cody holding onto the ball too long, or not calling the correct audibles (or protections? Or is that the center?), or if ANY of the hard hits are his fault, but he MUST figure out a way to avoid getting crunched so much. The other thing is, he must find a way to get the ball downfield. I know he hasn't been playing with all of our weapons, but we're not getting the deep plays in the passing game.

At this time, Cody is completing about 67% of his passes for about 1000 yards, with 4 td's and 1 pick. I think he's the guy, and I pray he's back soon. I don't believe he has a history of concussion problems, so I would expect him to miss AT LEAST one game, and probably two. If I was a betting man, I'd say one game is all he will miss unless the medical staff simply won't allow him back. I'd love to tell you that he'll be back for the Jets, but he won't be. Now we have to hope BEYOND hope that McCown can play, or else the game won't be worth watching.
