Fact of the matter is that he needs to keep better company. He needs some sort of life coach to set him straight. He still obviously has some bad influenses in his life if he thinks hanging around with people who are smoking pot, and going places where pot is being smoked is a good idea. I'm not even saying that he needs to cut people out of his life because they smoke, but rather tell him to keep the shit away from him or GTFO.

 

However this just about proves that he hasn't been smoking pot, but has just bee around those who are. Considering that the NFL claims that they don't and will not suspend players for second hand smoke, I don't see how the league can justify suspending him at all. Plus considering that his DUI doesn't fall under the drug policy, but rather the player conduct policy, and also considering that first time DUI offenders do NOT recieve suspensions, he by all accounts should be playing week 1. However I see that NFL following the letter of the law, or not the letter of the law, and in either case he will see a suspension. If they follow their rules to the letter, he will be out for 1 year and then lose his first two weeks pay when he comes back for his DUI. If they say we want to disipline you according to how the drug policy WILL look like after the union agrees to HGH testing, he likely won't be suspended at all for the pot, but will see a suspension for 1-2 games as a first time DUI offender.

 

disagree. they are supposed to get at least 24 hrs notice before testing and nearly all the cleansing products like clear choice etc hold it in ur body for like a 4 or 5 hour window. you don't smoke for at least a day (the longer the better) and then you drink that shit, then wait one hour, then the next 4-6 hrs ur piss is clean. or at least all but trace amounts. it's stored in the fat, and these guys fat percentage is almost nil.

 

it seems to me much of the league smokes, and year round. that's why the testing is the way it is. 24hrs notice? ha! and urine? lmao!

 

they don't WANT to catch these guys. only fuckups can't get around these very infrequent tests...as in "repeat offenders" who get tested all the time.

A source informed Profootballtalk that suspended WR Josh Gordon's failed drug test barely generated a positive, and it would have been a negative had luck been on Gordon's side.

Gordon was summoned for a urine sample. Those samples are split into two bottles, one marked "A" and the other "B." It's completely random which one is marked "A" and which is labeled "B." "A" is tested first, and if it generates a positive test, then "B" is tested. The limit is 15 nanograms-per-milliliter. Gordon's "A" bottle showed a concentration of 16 ng/ml, while his "B" registered a 13.6 ng/ml. The result was a failed test. If urine sample handlers would have by chance marked the "A" bottle "B" and the "B" bottle "A," then Gordon would be free to play. Gordon is appealing the ban, and his hearing will be held on Friday. There seems to be a decent chance he wins.

First, Ive seen people get locked up for tests as low as 18, but have seen people "let off" with tests as high as 30. It always depends on the judge. I dont see any difference with this appeal.

 

Second, you cannot get THC in your system by making out with someone who smoked. 99% of thc in marijuana is directed into the lungs almost immediately, especially with the deep "hits" marijuana users use to injest it.

 

Third, it suites Gordon well that thw DWI won't be factored into this hearing.

 

Last, as an addiction specialist and a person who conducts 10+ tests per week, the fact the B test is basically negative would be enough to validate a second hand smoke appeal. I would recommend he change his company, but if it WAS second hand, and that is the ruling, he broke no rule.

 

To me, this is a full-year ban OR nothing type of ruling. Any other ruling would be non-sensical... but it's the NFL so I'm sure they'll come up with something dumb...

I was mildly critical of JG before knowing the juicy details. Being a recovering opiate/ dope fiend myself, I fully grasp the helplessness a real addict struggles with when it comes to using illegal substances, and that includes pot.

 

Yes weed is not considered to be "truely" physically addicting, but as someone whose addiction began with weed and alcohol in middle school, I can one hundred and ten percent vouch for marijuanas addictive potential. When pot was my drug of choice, I could care less about anything other than smoking buds as often as I could.

 

But the more details I hear, the more I'm seeing Josh as a simple young, dumb bonehead who enjoys smoking weed and partying (which nowadays is the rule, not the exception with my generation). He appears to have given a whole hearted effort to avoid failing another test after reaching stage 3, being that he pass 70 freak in screens! Now whether the second hand smoke portion of the story is true or he simply fucked up and hit a blunt/joint/bowl/bong/hookah is whole other issue.

 

With the facts Being what we know at this moment, I CANNOT see how Goddell could morally and legitimately suspend Gordon at all. The margins of error on these screens are to my knowledge within the level at which his sample A registered. But as others have said, Goodell is Goodell and he will do whatever the fuck he so chooses.

As someone with some deep seated demon from the past can attest, the best thing for myself and possibly for Gordon would be for others to interact with him and show that they truely give a shit. The kid probably has lived through some shit that the majority of you probably could not comprehend one bit (and again, speaking from personal, painful experience here). Also saw that the Lawyers are looking into the testing machine's calibration . . . the error factor alone in this has got to throw this out.

 

But with the NFL (Goodell) you never know what you're going to get.

 

For those of you that aren't into the metric system a nanogram is one billionth of a gram. That's almost down to counting individual atoms.

 

I got out my calculator to scale up what 15 ng\ml works out to. If you threw a quart of water (or booze) into 16 million gallons of water (24 Olympic sized swimming pools). That's what you'd be looking for. I'd say there's some margin for error. I worked in a hospital lab for years- and for sure I'd give a reading in the nanogram range a 10% + - margin of error. 15-1.5= pass.
