ATENEARS
The Cleveland Browns could be taking an interest in a kicker when the draft rolls around: Kevin Harper. According to a tweet by Harper, the Browns will be conducting a private workout with him on April 12th: Harper has ties to Cleveland. He graduated from Mentor High School and was considered was of the country's top 5 kicking prospects by Scout.com. He then went on to play for Pittsburgh in college. He did not attempt a field goal during his first two seasons, but he was the team's starting kicker over the past two years. In 2011, he connected on 21 of 31 kicks. In 2012, he connected on 20 of 27 kicks. Harper attended the NFL Regional Combine in New York and made an impression by connecting on five straight field goals from 35, 40, 45, 50, and 55 yards, according to Sam Werner of the Post-Gazette. He also worked on kickoffs and was sending them out of the end zone, according to Werner. His performance was enough to earn him a spot at the Super Regional Combine, which took place on April 6th. Last year, the Rams' Greg Zeurlein made an impression at that event and ended up being drafted in the sixth round. The News-Herald posted a story about Harper's path to the NFL earlier today. Zombo Yea, that is only like 66 and 74% of his kicks. Phil Dawson was hitting on like 85%. We may not get someone quite that good, but we need an 80 percenter.
