Kizer's throwing motion is looking great in the clips on the Browns site. For what that's worth. Just looks noticeably improved. Smoother. Faster. Spiral is tighter.

I've been following the top 4 really closely for about a year now and I liked them all at one point or another. I was a Trubisky guy until it was pointed out he locks his front leg when he throws. I'm all in on Kizer.

I'd like to see DeShonne run the scout team this year and become familiar with running other offenses during practice, coming along slowly. There are a ton of details to absorb, I see no point in rushing him.

I do like Cody and like his offseason initiative but I'd rather have Brock test out our revamped o-line while Cody is the insurance and Kizer grooms.

I read a couple of articles that said Kizer definitely had the nicest throws of the day, but he also had some of the worst, including a pick-6 thrown to Jamie Collins. That's to be expected from a rookie, but those are also the type of throws that can doom our young team. Kessler apparently had a rough day, and Osweiler reportedly looked like the best QB again. It's like a few of us have said, don't be surprised if Brock is the best QB in PRACTICE. IMO, it's when the bullets go live that he will struggle...but maybe I'm wrong.

It's also VERY tough for the QB's right now because they don't have our team's best WR's on the field. I don't think Britt was practicing, but I could be mistaken. I definitely know Coleman was out, and if those two don't practice, the QB's are going to have a very difficult time getting the ball to our WR's because we just don't have any worth mentioning. Been reading some nice things about Ricardo Louis, but we all know his hands are pretty suspect. Still, he has the speed and physicality to strike fear into DB's, and maybe he's the guy who will develop this year. Lord knows we need it.

Odd....listening to the radio this AM, they said that Kessler had problems with balls being batted down. The belief being that height was an issue with him. He is short, but some short QBs have learned how to get around things. They surmise that perhaps he has not learned those techniques adequately.

It was also said (by Tony Grossi) that Osweiler has NOT looked good at all thus far. The things that were issues in Houston were still issues....primarily a lack of accuracy. It was said that Kizer seemed to have made the best throws at times....and some times not so good.

Bottom line though was a conclusion that unless Kizer can develop....the others are not what we would likely want in a "franchise" QB.

And he signed his contract today, shortly after Garrett got hurt, damn were going to be sorry we didn't draft Trubisky.

1) Heard the same.....when Hue was asked, he said it was because our D-Line was getting their hands up....not bad QB play, but great D line play.....(way to spin it Huey!)....of course, they only got their hands up on Kess....over and over again....

2) Ive heard the same......

3) But, we already knew that......do you know anyone who thought we had a franchise QB in Kess or Osweiler?

PFFFFT

Gas?......does the same to me....

No....we're not......

Cody is facing the starting D who's not wearing pads. I'm not concerned about the batted balls or him finding his throwing lanes right now. It's early and they are motley crews.

Some vocal Trubisky loyalists around eh? That poor kid's life is gonna be a nightmare in Chicago.

He wasn't our answer, clearly. I'm sure you'll all come around at some point.

The team around him in Chicago is not very good. Probably not going to be as good as the Browns.

After my experience at camp last year, I won't believe much until it I see it with my own eyes.

While I was posting about RG3 being slow to his second read and Pryor bailing out some poor throws Nathan Zegura was busy making Facebook clips 10 feet from me about how excellent he looked and people bought it.

I was surprised you couldn't hear my smirk/chuckle in that video. I even listened for it. Good editing job on their staff.

Exactly how fucking high do you expect that a QB throws a screen pass? or 10 a yard pass? A 20 yard pass? Since the majority of passes are thrown 20 yards or less and are aimed shoulder height or lower.......... the differents in trajectory of a ball thrown by a guy who is 6 foot tall, versus one who is 6 4, is not significantly different.

A QB is not shooting fucking footballs into a 10ft high basket. The majority of the shit he throws is pretty much level, slightly elevated, or even downward.

The only reason a QB has balls batted down is because the offensive line is not keeping the pass rushers far enough away. DISTANCE FROM THE QB TO THE NEAREST DL.............draw your own to-scale diagram....then you will see........... the QBs height is not a great influence on batted balls.

A typical DL will reach 8ft high without jumping. If that guy is 3 feet from a qb throwing a 15 yard pass, it doesn't matter how fucking tall he is. Mover the DL 3 ft back and see how much more room the QB has.

You let Kessler sit behind the Russell Wilson's or Drew Brees's of the world for 1 year to see what a 6-7 step drop in a pocket gives you as a view & larger windows. With the time given by our OL last season? Not a chance..If I were Pep Hamilton after last season?I would have walked to Michigan..

He holds on to the ball too fucking long.

Kess is a 3rd rd. pick going into his 2nd season Ghools, slow your (H)cue cards. When allotted to drop & throw in rhythm the kid was solid. Not much WR help nor comrodity as Ben has either. 9 players with 2 more coming for Wentz. Wheres Goff,Lynch,Cook,Hackenburg,Brissett all chosen before Kess? Out of missing out on 1 Rabbits foot in Dak Prescott...we came out all right imo..

Kessler looked pretty good last year. No one had any expectations for him and he didn't have very much time with the first string. Another issue I think he dealt with is that he knows he doesn't have a strong arm so he wasn't comfortable pushing the ball downfield or threading the needle. Yes he held the ball too long but that may have been because of the things I mentioned above. He showed he can run the offense and he could manipulate a pocket extremely well for a rookie. He deserves a chance to grow in this offense for a year but he is physically limited so his leash is pretty short. It feels like our team is going to be built around the running game (where those fat asses tens to pay off) to take pressure off of these quarterbacks. I personally feel that is how you develop young quarterbacks. Don't put too much on their plates at first and as they progress give them more responsibility. Look at Ben, Wilson, Flacco, even Presscott last year. Strong running game and solid defense help mold a quarterback

Good to read/see he's taking his new stroke onto the field... even if it is just practice at this point. Really seems like his two-hands on the ball, ball-security work is the foundation for it all.

Next step... real pressure in live action.

Meh... let's see what happens when the trenches get real and the OL can work to keep those hands down.

But I also just can't see how the hell one expects a better result when doing the same things year after year. Every year the team and fans celebrate how the Browns were smart not to spend big money, and big draft picks on the top players. Then, every year, we watch as those guys we were so smart not to pay big money for do amazing things. Meanwhile we talk about how in 38 years our guys are really going to work out.

I just don't see any reason this team will not again be the worst team in the NFL.

over & over.year after year.for 38 years nothing has worked since Butch Davis maybe? Dude nobody in all of sports has ever done what we are attempting to pull off. 2 years in, we have maybe stripped down to under 5 players drafted before Farmer. Find the QB & out draft our aging Division.Worst team in NFL again? the proof will be in the picks. FO decisions & Coaching..What separates is the QB play or lack their of. It outweighs all of them and they know it..

Yup... searched for years to find "the football guy" to lead us out of the basement. Finally figured out that "when you're in a hole... stop digging."

Aside from Allen's "Over-the-Hill-Gang", what franchise has ever built a winner out of purely collecting vets?

And even with George Allen that has been many decades ago.

Kinda easy for the mental midgets to latch on to what already successful and stable franchises do...well, some of them, to stay at the top.

Yet, trollie ignores his favorite franchises method, which is build thru the draft and supplement with 2nd or 3rd tier vets on the wire.

That doesn't fit his narrative tho, so it's glossed over. Not like we haven't tried adding vet talent...just most of it is over the hill, and the ones that aren't ain't coming here till the culture changes.

Old, sad argument. Much like him.

problem is we haven't out-drafted anyone. yeah there might be 3 or 4 keepers and maybe a star in the making but with what, 24 picks in the last couple of years (?) how many of these draft picks will even be on a NFL squad in 3 years besides the browns who will cut half of them before next season?

but sure glad we're stocking up draft picks for 2020. i'm sure Hue and Co. will be jumping out of their sofa cushions watching the browns draft then, with a new coach and new FO.
