If you're convinced a man lived in a fish... Well... Yeah

As a non believer the story of Jonah would be mocked and it makes sense it would be from unbelievers. It would take a miracle to happen. Some believe in miracles and some don't. What doesn't make sense to me are Christians who think the story of Jonah is too far fetched even though Jesus Himself used the story of Jonah to illustrate his own death and resurrection. These type Christians can believe that God became a man, died on a cross for their sins and rose from the dead but the miracle of Jonah is just too unbelievable? To me that does not make sense.

Perhaps you're right. I think most atheists here and the world over would be happy if people applied the same scrutiny to their own religion as they do to others, and other claims. For example, pretty much everybody agrees that climate change is a thing that we're causing, yet some are demanding absolute proof beyond any possible doubt and as soon as anyone says anything that's not completely in line with expectations - rightly or wrongly - that's enough to make people say it's all bullshit. Well, apply that same level of requirement to your religion. Is there any proof for any of it (the supernatural part, that is), outside of your religious text?

I am an atheist and would like that but I am not holding my breath. If someone is religious, I just don't give a shit. If they try to push it on me or naysay my opinions using their religion as the basis for it then I will pipe up. Until then, I don't think I am convincing anyone and they aren't convincing me to join a religion.

A religious debate that goes nowhere. If you are convinced there is a God or not, what a stranger says on a football forum won't change that.

That's Life amigo. Unfortunately human beings, as far as I know, are the only creatures on earth with the ability to think in the abstract. And so it goes.

So you think human, little do you know your cat is probably cleaning up in it's fantasy leagues.

Or your cat could be dreaming up ways it could bump you off:

Cats ARE neurotic - and they're probably also trying to work out how to kill you, say researchers
