The Gipper
If the playoffs today these are the teams who would be in (and now, some have clinched) AFCE Patriots 11-3 have clinched division and hold #1 seed AFCN Bengals 9-4-1 AFCS Colts 10-4 have clinched division AFCW Broncos 11-3 have clinched division Wildcards Steelers and Ravens both 9-5 In the hunt Chiefs, Chargers, Bills all 8-6. Texans, Dolphins, Browns all 7-7 NFCE Cowboys 10-4 NFCN Lions 10-4 (hold tie break over Green Bay) NFCS Saints 6-8 NFCW Cardinals 11-3 #1 seed have clinched a playoff spot Wildcards: Seahawks 10-4, Packers 10-4 In the Hunt: Eagles 9-5 Atlanta and Carolina still have a chance in NFCS "Race" for the #1 overall draft pick: Bucs 2-12 Raiders 2-12 Jaguars 2-12 Titans 2-12 Jets 3-11 Redskins 3-
Bob806
The AFC is getting uninteresting to me again, mostly because the Browns season went to crap. It's the same old stuff with New England & Denver, and I think the only real threat to those 2 teams would be the Steelers or Ratbirds (that hurts to write it, but they know how to win in the playoffs and have good QBs). I don't think the Colts are ready, and the Bengals won't be able to put up enough points to hang with the Pats or Denver. I'm rooting for underdogs Arizona or Detroit in the NFC, but I doubt either makes it to the Super Bowl. I wouldn't be surprised if Seattle makes it, they've turned it around (unless Green Bay gets home field).
The Gipper
Games involving contenders this week: Chargers at 49ers. Niners eliminated....do they have a letdown? Chargers fighting for WC Ravens @ Texans. Both in fight for Wildcard. If DATS beat Rats, they help themselves and others Browns @ Panthers. Both with longshots at best, but with Panther win and Saints loss, they become NFCW leader Falcons @ Saints. Atlanta eliminated with loss. But if they win, they could pull even with Saints and with Panther loss to the Browns they then control the division.....even if Panthers win, they would still be a half game behind Chiefs @ Steelers. A Chiefs win would tentatively wrest away a Wildcard spot from Pitt in their favor. Chiefs loss would likely eliminate them Colts @ Cowboys. Colts have clinched division, but they are playing for a possible bye Cowboys need to win to maintain division lead over Philly. Seahawks @ Cardinals. Networks think this is the biggest game of the day, and they may be right. For NFCW supremacy and possibly #1 overall seed in NFC. Broncos @ Bengals. Bengals need win to maintain AFCN lead. Broncos playing for a bye plus possible #1 seed if New England falters Eagles @ Redskins. Philly is right now on the outside looking in at the WC race. Need victory to maintain shot at WC. If they win and the 'boys lose to Indy they would again lead that division. Vikings @ Dolphins Miami needs to win to maintain slim WC hopes. Lions @ Bears. Oh my. Lions need to handle hapless Bears to maintain NFCN lead. Packers @ Bucs. The old Bay of Pigs. Packers need in order to maintain pace with Lions. Patriots @ Jets. Pats need to maintain their current #1 seed position Bills @ Raiders. Bills need to maintain possible wildcard hopes.
The Gipper
Also, in regard to the Browns draft positioning: with their own pick they would be choosing right now somewhere between 13-16. With the Bills pick they would be choosing between 17-19 How would any of these guys look who are currently rated (by CBS Sports) as the 13th -19th best prospects for next year's draft: 13 DeVante Parker WR 2 Louisville Sr 6-3 209 1 14 *Dante Fowler Jr. OLB 3 Florida Jr 6-2 261 1 15 *Trae Waynes CB 1 Michigan State rJr 6-1 183 1 16 Cedric Ogbuehi OT 3 Texas A&M rSr 6-5 300 1 17 Kevin White WR 3 West Virginia Sr 6-3 210 1 18 Alvin Dupree DE 4 Kentucky rSr 6-4 267 1 19 Danny Shelton DT 2 Washington Sr 6-2 332
