THE BROWNS BOARD

Day 2 is Make or Break for Our 2016 Draft

Be you over or under whelmed by our pick of Coleman on opening night, today will determine our 2016 "grade". Can we land:

  • ... needed OL help?
  • ... a complementary, power running back?
  • ... a 3-down LB?

Check these three boxes and it'll have been a good day.

I fully expect Day 2 to start with a trade down from 32. While Sashi has gotten decent value (per "the chart") in his first two trades down, it seems that other teams have gotten better than chart value for their higher picks. Can he keep us in R2's top ten and net us a mid-third?

I also expect to see our first trade up. Can we move a 3rd round pick back into the middle third of R2 without costing us an additional R3?

Should be the most interesting Day of the draft we'll see... until Day 1 of 2017...

I think they've made smart moves. We need talent and aren't going to get it all in one year. They've mad smart trades and stock piled picks for not only this year but next. It gives time to evaluate and see next year what we need

It's a smart way to build a young team. Load up on picks for now and the future. The draft is still a crap shoot. More picks are better odds.

I think you're spot on with addressing our needs. I'd love for us to get a tough and nasty lb. We'll see.

1. OL: Jason Spriggs Indiana could be a very good candidate at ROT..per CBS sports ranking he is the best OL on the board. #34 overall pick. Or would you prefer an OG like Cody Whitehair? #39 overall prospect?

2. RB: Well, the Heisman Trophy winner is still sitting there. I don't think the Browns go that route....maybe late rd 3.

3. LB: Myle Jack and Ragland still sitting there.....but both, apparently, have major medical issues. If not them, Kentrell Brothers is a guy I had them taking in my Mock draft contest entry. There is also Kamalei "Chick" Correa, and Joshua Perry.

Who is your choice

(though RT may be more critical)

Agree... just a different route to the same end. Martin's my #2 OL in the entire draft...

Another believer? LOL! :D

Coincidentally another Aggie... hmmmmmm...

Well we know Dallas is going DE if we trade down. So have to anticipate those other 3 spots as best we can.

Do we? Hearing Cook here after their failed Lynch leap... Are you thinking Dodd? Spence?

he's bosa's equal in pass rushing probably but not in run defense.

Do you see a fit for Spence under Ray? Seems more made for Krug's role...

I am thinking either one. Can't hurt to have all the good DL/LBs that you can.

Dallas trying to deal for 32 pick

May have already been posted

Supposedly in competition with KC for Cook...

Other teams interested in 32 for other players...

As far as O-Linemen go, I think there's a lot of talent in that department this draft. Wait for kids like John Theus, Brandon Shell, and Jerald Hawkins in later rounds.

QB - Don't get Connor Cook. He played in a weak defense conference and got rocked one the playoffs hit him. Could not score a TD against Bama and couldn't do much in his conference championship. I hate to say it, but Paxton Lynch was your man. IMO he's the only QB who's gonna perform well in his first year. Invest in a kid that will fit your system but will take time to develop. Hope RG3 stays healthy and your backups can handle what's coming next. I'd say your best bet would be Christian Hackenburg. Kid has power, size, and accuracy, but will take time to get used to the NFL.

DERRICK HENRY! Come on! There's a lineman and rb right there. Jonathan Williams is another nice, 5th round pick.

Scooby Wright III would be a great steal. Considered the best LB in CFB the past 2 years until he got hurt halfway through the season. Guy is strong and has a lot of stamina too. Fell in the draft because of his injury.
