A humorous book of disappointing moments ?

Subjecting future generations to that just doesn't seem right. They may accept that as the norm.

What? But it is the norm.

51 years without a championship kinda says so.

Perhaps the return of king James will finally break the curse and get things turned around.

If I were to use one word to describe the Browns in the 70's, 80's and 90's it would be "average". They had not won a Superbowl but had a number of missed opportunities. They were never tagged or identified as the NFL version of the Chicago Cubs in that time. All this really bad image of the Browns has come since we came back into the league in 99. It might be expected to take a few years for a new franchise to get established but we took it about a decade too long. This should have never happened in the NFL which is geared towards parity amongst the teams. Only by mismanagement did we beat the odds and do so bad for so many years. We have arrived now. Everything I see about this team says it is being built solid and is going to be a competitive team for years to come. Some other poor club can carry the losing mantle now.

Yes, total mismanagement. The league put the Browns behind the 8 ball compared to prior "expansion" teams...but even when we got in front of the 8 ball the Browns always managed to scratch.

(you likey pool hall analogy?)

Yeah we got snookered compared to the dealio the Jaguars and the Panthers got in 95 with the NFL with more draft picks, etc. Maybe since both teams bankshotted to the championship game in 96 the league thought they had made it too easy and cut back just in time for the Browns.
