JUNE 14, 2017

Cleveland Browns rookie Myles Garrett suffered an apparent foot injury at his team's minicamp Wednesday, Cleveland.com's Mary Kay Cabot reported.

According to NFL Network's Aditi Kinkhabwala, Garrett walked under his own power on the sidelines after being examined by team doctors.

ESPN.com's Pat McManamon reported the injury came during a two-minute drill in which Garrett landed awkwardly on his left foot after reaching to record a sack on Browns quarterback Brock Osweiler.

Browns coach Hue Jackson said the extent of the injury is unknown and the team will know more when Garrett receives a more thorough examination, per Cabot.

The concern for Cleveland will be the fact Garrett dealt with a lingering ankle sprain during his junior year with the Texas A&M Aggies. Prior to that, he had a fractured growth plate in his foot in high school.

Given Garrett's status as the No. 1 overall pick, any injury he hasno matter how minorwill cause Browns fans go into panic mode temporarily. For the time being, it looks like Garrett and Cleveland dodged a bullet.

While Garrett still has plenty of time before the Browns kick off the regular season against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sept. 10, it's important he makes a quick recovery. Heading into his first year, he'll need all of the practice time he can get to adjust to the NFL.

Mary Kay Dogface loves drama. Knee jerk reaction vs. actually knowing something.

If you thought 8 1/2 or 9 1/2 Weeks was a sexy movie? Wait till you see MKC after 6 weeks of this while Myles leaves town ;) Sounds like his foot tangled with another while getting to Brock. Unless his foot was planted in turf during tangle me thinks we might escape this one..Meanwhile I'll go get the wheelchair for Mary

As a Browns fan....I fully expect the prognosis on his injury to only get worse over the next few days.

Now, if it were say, the Steelers that drafted him, then the news would get BETTER as time went on. Because he's not a Brown.

I'll completely go insane if Garrett is truly hurt with something like a Lisfranc or other awful condition. I can't take it. Holding my breath for good news soon.

Yeah- what you just said. Latest "precautionary", and he'll have an MRI to make sure it's nothing serious.

And to Ghoolie, you don't think they had the sports med docs at University Hospitals go over Garrett's injury history in nauseating detail? Sure, the Browns are going to blow a #1 pick on a guy they have injury doubts on. It happens- just look at the Bengals with Ki-Jana Carter, and our own LeCharles Bentley- who never had a significant injury- until he suited up for training camp in Cleveland.

This really should not be that media complicated. Nor General Hospitalized. The League is to video tape all OTA's & Training Camps for rules violations. The Browns surely should have tape? Supposedly the injury accrued 3ft from your QB? If you remember the video of Donte Fowler's injury from Jags was out by like the next day...Shhhh(don't tell MKC)

Apparently he is "fine"

Minicamp is over for Myles Garrett.

The No. 1 pick in the 2017 NFL Draft was a no-show for Cleveland's final minicamp practice on Thursday after suffering a left foot injury during Wednesday's session. However, Garrett is reportedly "fine", per NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport.

Mary Kay Cabot of The Plain Dealer reported that Garrett was still at the team complex being evaluated after the pass-rusher limped off the field under his own power on Wednesday.

The Browns have yet to issue further details on the injury, but coach Hue Jackson said Wednesday that it was "a good sign" to see Garrett leave the field without a trainer.

The uber-athletic defensive end dealt with a high-ankle sprain during his final season at Texas A&M before missing a portion of Browns OTAs with an undisclosed injury.

It's a high-profile setback worth monitoring, but Garrett has a month-plus to rest and prepare for his first NFL training camp. Stay tuned.

Good points Larry. And if you remember, the practice that ended Bentley's career was a non-contact practice in shorts. I drove my dad and cousin from from Rochester,NY with intentions of watching the afternoon/evening practice. And when Atenears said he was all done - I thought he was just busting balls like we always did back then.

Bentley was never one that was frequently injured. Come to think of it, neither was Courtney Brown prior to coming to Cleveland. And right after Jamir Miller enjoyed his best NFL season in 2001 as a Pro Bowl edge rusher - he tore his achilles in the preseason opener of 2002 up in Minnesota.

We've had a lot of bad luck with injuries over the years. Yes, all teams have injuries. That said, those teams aren't always as talent/depth deprived as we have been when the steel toe shit kickers of fate kicked us right between the lookers.

Staph ended Bentleys career. Wasn't the injury.

Ended Joe Jurivicus' career too. There's an old quote in medicine. "The operation was a success- but the patient died." Wonder why the Browns signed on with University Hospitals, and dumped Cleveland Clinic? I would bet the ranch it wasn't about money.
