The Perfect Crooked Angel

John and Mary had been together forever and in their late 50's with no children they enjoyed Christmas the most out of any time of the year. Living in a modest home in the country they lived together alone and had no friends or family to speak of. They met when they were very young at a circus they both worked at and fell for each other at first site. They soon married and had been together ever since.

John worked at a factory for years after retiring from the circus life. You see John and Mary were little people vertically challenged but very happy together. They both didn't want anyone to feel sorry for them and were always weary of strangers.

At Christmas John and Mary lit up the house and living room with Christmas decorations. The tree was the hardest part for them and especially for John because it was his job to get set up the ladder and put the angel on top of the tree. Year after year, after John backed away from the tree the angel always sat crooked on top of the tree. It was always funny because John would try so hard but to no avail and it was a time when they could actually laugh at themselves together. They were perfect for one another.

One fateful day John didn't come home from work as there was an accident and John lost his life. Mary was heartbroken for so very long around Christmas time she wouldn't set up any decorations or even celebrate Christmas. After years pass she finally makes up her mind to have a tree up and she puts the angel on top of the tree and ....it was perfectly still. She giggles at first then the memories of John come sinking in again. She is very depressed at this time and lays down in her bed and falls asleep.

She dreams a hard dream..she's in and old building or maybe a warehouse and she is in a dark cold place in a maze-like area of fear. She feels someone take her hand and leads her out of this tranquil building and it's daylight out and warm. She sees John and is amazed of how he looked. He was tall and very good looking and most of all very happy. John whispers to her ear and tells her to get on with her life and they would be together again no matter what.

Mary awakens the next morning groggy from the hard nights sleep and goes to the kitchen and something catches her eyes. It's the angel on top of the tree and it was crooked...again. Mary cried tears of joy as she remembers the dream of A Perfect Crooked Angel

Merry Christmas!
