THE BROWNS BOARD

Needed-Browns' Board Tailgate info?

Canton Mike

Recommended Posts

Cal & I are coming up from Canton for the game & tailgate. I do need some info.

1) Location? Map, GPS coordinates, & location address (if available) would be helpful.

2) Parking?

3) How far from the Stadium? Important as we're both old farts with bad knees & need alternatives to long walks.

4) What should we bring? I do make some mean peanut butter fudge if there is any call for sweet stuff.

Looking forward to putting faces with names.

Thanks in advance for any input & advice.

Mike

We are not throwing our traditional tailgate parties this season, but you're in luck as a lot of regulars are in town for this weekends game and there will be a good turn-out for the tailgate party.

I've provided some old links for you:

http://www.21lounge.com/browns_board_tailgate_party_map.htm

http://www.21lounge.com/TheBrownsBoard%20Tailgate%20Lot.pdf

The tailgate spot is very far from the stadium, but in the lot of a RTA Station (Settlers Landing). The Train drops you off right in front of the stadium.

You can park much closer to the stadium and tailgate on your own (nice romantic tailgate for two), and the parking will cost you $25-$30. Or you can tailgate with the big boys of this forum and pay $5 for parking, and about a $5-$10 cab ride each way, or $2 each way on the RTA train.

There may be a sidewalk sale downtown that could sway you away from theBrownsBoard festivities as well.

Landmarks to shoot for (between the two points below):

The Flat Iron Grille http://www.theflatirongrill.com/

Settlers Landing RTA Station http://www.riderta.com/facilities/settlerslanding

I believe Hoorta gave CalFox everyones cell phone numbers, I dug up old tailgate maps, diagrams and images (see above). I've given you landmark locations nearby. There is not an address because it's a freaking tailgate lot, not a house, business or Taliban hotspot.

The address of: 952 West Ave. Cleveland Ohio will get you to within about 63' just South of our parking spaces.

If I attend, I'll wear orange ... maybe a tinge of brown.

PS: I'm slightly over-weight and will have beer in my hand.

You're on your own from there ...

What about Saturday? I note that Westside Steve is NOT playing at the Eastland Inn this year. Actually, it looks like he is not playing at all that Saturday night.

Gipper, the discussion is on going for Saturday night. Right now it is narrowed down to either down town or the 2 bucks,Eastland Inn circuit. Of course that could also change. I'm sure someone will post here when it's hammered out

The Eastland Inn & Westside Steve both book their gigs much before this crew comes around to deciding on anything. This year the communication among the out-of-towners has been very spotty. Dave & Liz (the owners of the Eastland Inn), Steve, and myself just could not work out all the logistics. As you know, It's not magic that Steve performs at the Eastland each Saturday the gangs in town, it takes some planning. He only plays there about three Saturdays a year. We probably could have bumped the Inn's scheduled entertainment, but just said "screw-it" and let it be.

At this point in time I'm not sure if I will attend the tailgate party. I dropped my season tickets this season and Kathy and I are just gonna wing-it Sunday morning. Got plans to stay downtown Sunday evening and plan to watch the game from the Horseshoe Casino or at the 21Lounge (www.21lounge.com). Got tickets to the Tribe double-header on Monday as well. Mentor game on Friday, wing-it on Saturday ... that's all I know.

I usually do not attend the game either. I have no ticket for Sunday. But I will be at the tailgate. Maybe I will join you at the casino or the lounge rather than head back south to home. Haven't spoken yet to WSS on his plans. I am not sure my wife will be willing to be my DD this year....unless I can promise her a prime rib or something.
