We've heard plenty about Aikman and both Mannings etc etc and how they struggled in their first NFL starts.

Here's a list that is Manziels true comparisons at this point. This is the talent level that he's in at this point.

NFL QB's to be shut out in their first NFL start in the last 20 years:

2014 Johnny Manziel

2010 Rusty Smith (who??) Titans

2003 Dave Ragone (seriously who???) Texans

2002 Henry Burris (LOL) Bears

2000 Spergon Wynn (will always be able to say he was drafted ahead of Brady) Browns

1997 Danny Wuerffel (Heisman Winning College gimmick QB) Saints

So that's the company our first round draft pick is in and we're supposed to have patience for this clown?

Fuck him and his homo fagboy fans that have been showing up here since we drafted him.

... Manziel was READY to go and play.

If that was so against Buffalo, then can we conclude that he was over prepared to face the Bengals?

The gay cliche is you can't teach an old dog new tricks, but he's a fucking rookie. That said, watch the Walsh-Montana practice videos on YouTube. I hated the Niners as a kid, but looking back, their attention to detail is legendary. Best case scenario he ends up the next Joe Montana. Worst case, Tony Montana.

Just remembered that JM spent pre-Pro Day time with QB guru, George Whitfield Jr.

I remember a breakthrough occurred when George had Johnny add his pinky to his grip on the laces.

You can have as little patience as you want. I doubt Johnny cares either way.

Cause he's got his $8 million contract and rich parents.I hope he doesn't flame out- but if he does- he'll be the biggest NFL overhyped bust since Brian Bosworth.

Any way you care to spin it- that was an epically bad first start. Even got a bunch of us more level headed guys sucked in based on the small sample size against the Bills. No longer.

I don't think he proved much against the bills, if I'm being honest.

He missed reads there too and nearly threw a pick over hitting a wide open west.

Maybe somehow he settles down against Carolina and shows something, I just don't see it based on the way he played Sunday.

I like the excuses forum though. Seen people comparing it to the return of MJ and return of Lebron and their sub par performances due to overhype in other places. Funny stuff.

Pains me to say be Hoge is right. He's got no skills that translate to the NFL and has negative tendencies that will just end up hurting the team (both on and off the field). Flush the turd.

Its called muscle memory. The guys has gone his entire life as a qb playing one way. Unless you work on overcoming those instincts you have moulded, which takes a long time, you'll fall back to what you're acclimated to.

Tebow was supposed to get his windmill mechanics fixed. Hey it worked for two throws. When the game got heated he was back to wind milling passes.

Its just human nature.

Yes but I don't think manziels mechanics are too bad. At least the upper body mechanics, lower body mechanics a different story. Momentum wrong way, footwork, etc). Obviously he looks good on pro day and what not, but that's not the same.

They all suffer under pressure, but that's expected.

Anyway tebows were/are much worse. Manziels are correctable, with time and practice. Most of manziels issues are self induced unnecessarily

Hoyer has pretty solid mechanics that only faultered due to his mind, and has an excellent release (high, fast, etc). He just suffered by sensing pressure that didn't exist and getting off balance. I think with more confidence in the blockers he'd be fine ;-) not to sound like a cock slobber but my opinion is definitely to keep him around.

The real argument for manziel was that he overcame some of his sloppy mechanics by his athleticism and intelligence, which is probably true but if you can't keep everything clean in a clean pocket you won't succeed in the NFL.

You could also direct some anger towards the team management who decided to bench Hoyer and bring in Manziel? But the Hoyer haters can't do that. Its all on JFF.

Still don't think it was necessarily a bad choice to put manziel in. He got flack for doing it he would have gotten flack for not doing it. He's gonna play it out but I think we'll be more hopeful on manziel if he shows improvement against Carolina, and even more improvement against Baltimore.

Very selective-How about Aaron Rogers 8/15 65 yds and 2 interceptions? Yeah another fuck up who turned into a pumpkin.

Hell I hope so. All the wind left my sails at the moment. Really not prepared to sustain another first round QB bust.

Manziel damn you don't be a bust.

there was a reason why a lot of former GMs said none of these over-hyped QBs shouldn't be selected until the 2nd round.

Agreed. But with our situation, even 2nd or 3rd round picks that we are told is our next QB to be groomed...well I'm tired of those busts too. Just tired.

Damn it Hoyer why did you have to fall apart in the last month?

We should have traded him to jerrah when we had the chance.

If the coaches/FO held him back this long because they knew he wasn't ready, and thought he wasn't going to be fixable...oh yeah.

If Jerrah would've picked him at #16 (I think it was), then who would we have today? Bridgewater? Eh..what does it matter. As ballpeen has repeated here...We Are Johnny Football. Sigh.

Do it Manziel. You don't have to win these last two games (it would be nice though), but please show us some signs of life.

Agree... JM's footwork was nearly flawless in his Buffalo appearance. It only faltered on two throws and both were due to pressure in his face.

Besides fame, I'm still looking for something Johnny does care about. Given that you're plugged in, can you help me out?

So if Manziel throws for 300 and 3 TDs against Carolina, what then?

Unless he also runs for 100... team win?

He collects trademarks and cares about living his life his way.

Dammit man! He's a rebel with a paycheck. A cowboy. A gunslinger. He's Johnny Fecking Football!

Which won't last either if he busts. Now wouldn't that be a strange motivation...Johnny works hard and plays well for the fame, not for the love of the game? I was told he's immensely competitive, but his behavior Sunday didn't show any of that.

So.... on his first drive his footwork was flawless? Jeez, with the buffalo defense essentially taking the series off - I'd hope Johnny would have good mechanics.

I'd agree. One of his big flaws is taking off and running instead of looking to throw. That is something I believe you can work on and get better at.

Comparison Shmarison,

All I know is this

THERE WAS NOT ONE THING I SAW FROM JF THAT EVEN REMOTELY LOOKED LIKE AN NFL QUARTERBACK!!

Even all the other rookies like Carr, Bongwater, etc etc at least look like a NFL QUARTERBACK.

JF looked completely outclassed. I hope and pray it was a fluke, but I dont think it is.

The secret is, no one wants to play hard for that jackwad, plain and simple.
