Zombo
Going to be a young offensive staff. Flip's first time calling plays and KO's first time as a full-time QB coach. I think Hoyer beat this guy out in New England, that's how young he is. Zombo

Zombo
And Kurt Roper as Senior Offensive Assistant Mr. Roper? I see he was Florida's OC and QB coach this year. Their offense got the coach fired, so there's that. Flip (never called plays) KO (Jets QB guru) and Roper (got his coach fired) will have the free agents flocking in to play on our offense! OldBrownsFan
Seems like the direction the Browns are going is trying to get Manziel ready to start next season. I understand that. I think it is an uphill battle. I have PTSD by what I saw out of JM in the the Bengals game. JM who looked quick in college looks slow in the NFL. I was surprised at how quickly he gets pulled down. On one play in particular a Bengals line man seemed to easily pull him down with one hand. If he scrambles it doesn't look to me he is very durable and better learn to do the slide quickly. The one thing I would like to see out JM is the ability he should have of throwing the ball. Especially after scrambling. I think that is his best asset. I understand though the Browns still want to not give up on their investment. But good luck. I just hope someone is not stubborn about it if the writing is on the wall about his lack of ability just to prove the draft pick.
Tour2ma
Does smack of doubling down doesn't it? The contrast between Russell Wilson's cool, quick little moves juking Pat defenders out of their Super Bowl jocks and JM's frantic scurries could not be starker. Had you asked me prior to the season which QB was "quicker", I would have sworn it was the one on our roster... and I would have been wrong. Tour, I have always said that the athlete who understands what they are doing, & is confident, plays "faster". Wilson, obviously, has worked hard & has that knowledge & confidence. I think Johnny had it as a college player, but NOW needs to work very hard, learn the pro system in which he plays & gain that same confidence. I'm not yet ready to say he won't do that, but he has a large hill to climb. I think Johnny will be monitored VERY closely in the future. We'll see. Canton Mike
Monitored? For what exactly? WSS Sorry, should have been more clear. I feel He needs to be monitored on an ongoing basis on his knowledge of the playbook & learning to read defenses. No progress reports or "tests". I use as a case in point that Hoyer's mechanics were poor (with no improvement) last season. His seemed pretty solid prior to his injury. I have a hard time believing that would have been so bad had qualified QB & offensive coaches been tracking progress & working on same. Mike I think you are right about about the confidence and playing faster. My gut feeling is JM is faster than what I have seen thus far on the field. It was obvious to me something wasn't right with Manziel. According to some reports he wasn't familiar with calling some plays and had to be corrected in the huddle. I don't know if JM is capable of being an NFL quarterback or not but with treatment he will have a fighting chance to prove himself. What I saw before seemed hopeless.
