I'll hand it to Weeden

He did a great job tonight. He still made me clutch the armchairs and yell at him through my screen but in the end it was a W and he did make some great throws. Problem is we've seen this before from him and he could throw 3 int's next game. The Hoyer injury sucks ass. Mugshot going to the hospital cause he couldn't breathe good sucks double whole ass. I know we're deep on the line but fuck he was probably going to be the sack leader for us this season. I know it's 1am and probably nothing's been said, but in the off chance is there any news on Bryant?

@ game Weeden sucks. If not for TJ and Benjamin, we lose.

yes, i agree.

BUT!

the dude did look loose and calm compared to the ginger of old. maybe he knew his NFL career was on the line?

all i know is he did his classic stare-down of the RB going right for a play action screen and the defender just missed having that pick 6. i don't know if he'll ever be able to fix that shit. but i'd rather be winning with our D, RB by committee and 2 young QBs just so the browns FO don't throw the first 4 picks we have to move up to pick #1 and pick a dud.

milk dud. shit's nice when you are high.

WHAT IS UP!?!

Weeden did OK, he still isn't "the guy", and although the sweetness of victory is still fresh, the stink of the the Weeden will come back fast !

Weeden played admirably. Not well, but admirably. He took a TON of boos early when he stepped in, but managed to NOT TURN THE BALL OVER, and put up a modest stat line.

Having him come in for Hoyer really shows the difference in our O and how slow Weeden is at decision making and getting the ball out. I hope Hoyer's knee is ok.

i'm not a religious man (i just believe in doing the right thing by every living thing on the planet) but i am like Piscine Molitor "Pi" Patel in the life of PI hoping richard parker can heal hoyer's knees overnite.

Weeden started terribly but then got better. Still he threw a few up that he shouldn't have and he took too long in the pocket. It is evident after tonight that Hoyer is definitely the better QB. We have a tough few games coming up and if we have any hope of winning any of them we will need Hoyer.

This quote from Weeden is one of the reasons I don't like him:

"It happened right in front of me,'' said Weeden. "It was basically, 'Here we go.' I got a chance, obviously sooner than we wanted. This football team was relying on me. The guys rallied around me and played well.''

First thing he is thinking about is himself, not the team. His first thought wasn't "shit that sucks", but "here's my chance". I guarantee you Hoyer would've said something a bit more humble were the tables reveresed, and I bet you if Hoyer was in for the whole game we take 2 less sacks and score one more TD.

We won this game in spite of Weeden, not because of him.

Thats absoloutly right, he reads receivers like father time. Following Hoyer made it even more obvious how slow he is, sure he has an arm and can through the deep ball...that the receiver runs too...but any kind of timing play forget it. What won the game for us was knocking out the Bills starter, he stays in... we lose.

^+1, Exactamundo. against the Bills, Weeden proved in spades he's not top caliber qb material, I'm not even sure he's decent backup material. Some good throws, some horribly inaccurate. When he's not missing seeing wide open receivers, he's sitting in the pocket for an eternity, taking unnecessary sacks. I've seen enough of this guy, I'd as soon they start Campbell, or bring in Freeman.

Campbell looked full of suck even in preseason games. There is a reason they skipped right past him to Hoyer.

Not sure if a change of scenery benefits both Josh Freeman and the Browns. Seems like more of a me,me,me type, and hasn't been that good of late. But the grass is always greener on the other side of the septic tank.

Yeah, Weeden holds on to the ball like it's his lil beddy-time wooby and collapses into a fetal position every time he smells a pass rusher. That Mario Williams sack up the middle? I see Hoyer dodging that.

I say bring Freeman in, he can't be worse than Weeden.

Weeds has the arm, Hoyer has the qb skills.

but Campbell... there's good reasons they went with Hoyer.

The time Campbell has been around, he should be a far better qb.

But he isn't.

Please, Brian Hoyer. Come back soon. Weeden doesn't remind us of Brian Sipe.

He reminds us of Bigfoot Anderson, but with a desire to win.

Hoyer is the only qb who has "it" for the Browns. Too bad.

I'll give Weeden credit for letting the ball rip on the 2 passes to Little and Gordon for the TD. Those were HUGE!! Reminded me of watching him at OK St.

We all saw how slow he is to read the D, and he has no anticipation. But, in reality he just hesitates too long. I think he can read the D, but just doubts himself probably due to the extensive history of turnovers. When he plays loose and cool, he is tough. It is really up to Gordon, Little, and Co. to instill some confidence in Weeden by making some great catches, which they did last night.

Don't forget to give credit to the o-line. While Weeden was rushed, there were a few plays when he had TONS of time, something we didn't see the first 2 games. As they continue to improve, and our WRs continue to improve, Weeden will have every chance of keeping this win streak going.

I really don't think he understands what he's seeing

He missed a safety blitz that left Gordon singled on the rt side...on the play he hit Cam for a first down but you have to burn teams that expose their secondary by blitzing...that's how you get them to stop blitzing...I don't see that ever happening with Weeds

It did seem to me that Turner dumbed down the offense for Weeden...he never looked rt...So did they cut the field in half for him?

If that's the case...with no running game and a qb that's only looking at half the field and you don't trust to throw in the red zone...

well...that's not good.

I was going to make this thread myself but couldn't agree more. It's plain as day the guy has back-up QB potential and was over-drated. It's amazing how much the guy stares the guy he wants down and has to see him open to throw the football. With that being said, the fans treated him like crap and he didn't flinch. He played to his ability and made three huge throws (little deep pass, Gordon TD, and 3rd and 18 pass for 1st down) that were enormous at the time and led to the browns winning the football game. He is the reincarnate of DA though. Slow release with a huge arm just isn't good enough in the NFL. Arm strength can't make up consistently for late throws.

Let's just pray Hoyer only needs a game or two with a sprain. But you can't help but be at least encouraged that Weeden isn't going the Freeman way of acting like a child. He's not the answer but he's still a Cleveland Brown and I'll support him.

if they're saying torn ligs you can forget Hoyer this season. Gotta give Weeden credit cause he came in and threw some absolute classic Weeden shit throws and I was just sitting there boiling in my chair. The fans were all over his shit and rightly so. They didn't boo him when he came into the game, they booed him when he threw a screen pass at 100mph and 2 ft too high. Almost got his receiver murdered too, but we got a helmet to helmet on it so I guess there's that. But he whethered it and did end up making some really really nice throws when it mattered. Losing Obgonnaya usually wouldn't register but fuck how many RB's we got left now? He's "technically" our only fullback but that was a joke to begin with. At least bring back Vickers we got nothing to lose at this point.

And no word on mugshot yet then eh?

You getting senile old man?

Weeden led 5 drives for 23 points. Average play...

If he doesn't do that, tj and benjis contributions don't mean jack shit.

What the fuck is wrong with you? So bitter even when we win.
