The Cysko Kid
I've never even played halo (although I have halo reach on my hard drive) but the world building in mass effect is brilliantly fleshed out.
tiamat63
Top 5 is a hard list to narrow down. HL2 + Counter Strike Starcraft Ocarina of Time WoW (the original, back when I was in high school and had time to play) Goldeneye
calfoxwc
fallout vegas ! THAT is the game my pt told me about, back when I had shoulder surgery. He was telling me you meet people in a survival situation, etc. and how you interact with them affects the game you play. he said it was excellent. I just have to find it now. The Cysko Kid
What difference does it make? Most games, not all, but most are released cross platform. I personally have a wii, an Xbox 360 and an Xbox one and via the magic of emulation, super nintendo, nintendo, Sega Genesis, ps1 and ps2.

The Cysko Kid
I don't use my desktop pc at all so I can't fathom sitting around and gaming on that. I do play some games on my laptop but if I'm going to play I prefer using a console. The controller just feels much more responsive to me than a mouse and keyboard
gftChris
If you are doing real time stuff then yes, a controller feels better. I had played the entire diablo series on PC, then a couple of christmas' ago mrs gft bought the expansion for me on PS3 and it felt much more natural. But then, as I said, I play mostly turn based stuff, so PC is better.
tiamat63
Clearly you've never played BF4 on a 4k monitor with a Keyboard and performance mouse. Far superior an experience.
The Cysko Kid
Pc is perfect for playing games like the sims or age of empires buy skyrim? I'll pass. I played oblivion on Xbox and again on pc and the pc had mods that made it more visually appealing but the controls were nit very immersive in my opinion. Clevfan4life
I played like a day or two of mass effect and couldnt stand it. Im a twitch shooter, cant stand that hybrid system in games like mass and fallout.
Clevfan4life
Any of yoy that have played doom 4 know how glorious it is. You cant go from running for ur life with an office building size cyber demon right on ur ass and pumping rockets into his grill on a dead run.....to let me stand here and trade rounds with this enemy fir 5 minutes while the rpg system calculates our armor falloff. Big meh. I play alot of tank games too and i despise thosebrpg elements they put between you and the target. Did u forget to give ur gunnner coffee that morning? Oh well that round uve got lined up going right down that enemys peehole, its gonna completely miss the tank so sorry. Or my tank doesnt handle quite right cause i didnt give the driver a reach around before we headed out.....blehhh, cant stand it
The Cysko Kid
Conversely pure shooters like gears of war do nothing for me. I love the rpg aspects. The closest I can get to a pure action game is something like "god of war" doom 4? Can't even see myself playing it and in truth the reviews aren't good enough for me to even give it a try when I didn't care for it's predecessors
The Cysko Kid
I kept playing resident evil 5 and 6 past the point where the series was good because resident evil 2 and 4 were masterpieces.
Clevfan4life
Uhhh doom 4 has gotten great reviews. Take it from me its amazing. When u pop a demon nest and the guitar starts rocking u know its go time. Seriously ngrs just warp in on you its absolutely hole clinching. Amazing game, really. The Cysko Kid
It's gotten middling reviews at best. I'll never invest in a game with less than a 4 of 5 or 90% rating unless I'm invested in the franchise.
MLD Woody
Xbox One Overwatch and Madden right now Most time in: NCCA, Madden, Halo

I'll never invest in a game with less than a 4 of 5 or 90% rating unless I'm invested in the franchise. I took a break from it before i finished it cause it was so good i didnt want to finish it too quick. Got back to it last night working on the final stage. Its glorious. No two ways about it. Best pure shooter ive ever played.
bbedward
I also play madden mostly, more of a casual gamer nowadays. New one's a pretty nice improvement. Still need to finish MGSV
tiamat63
Does the new madden allow for stunts, combo coverages, checking TE's, twists etc etc? If not, no thanks. Still a joke of an arcade game that favors 12 year olds.

MLD Woody
That's why I don't really play random online games. I'm in a 32 man franchise. We'll do maybe 10 seasons
Tour2ma
I don't use my desktop pc at all so I can't fathom sitting around and gaming on that. I do play some games on my laptop but if I'm going to play I prefer using a console. The controller just feels much more responsive to me than a mouse and keyboard When I had a PC I loved the mouse for FPS titles... Also had force feedback wheel and joystick for driving and flying games. But the game requirements quickly outstripped my PC's capabilities... and since I had stupidly bought a Dell, upgrades were designed to be damn near impossible. The Acer gaming lappie I am typing this one runs circles around anything I've previously owned.
tiamat63
Just thought of a game for Cal - because the Harvest season and Halloween are upon us. F.E.A.R. One of the better (and scariest) FPS' I've played in a long, long time. It's on Steam I'm pretty sure? Next time there's a sale, I'll check it out. If it's marked down, I might gift it to him.
