I can't quite figure out why they hired this clown. He makes Ray Farmer look competent. . .

Right....agree....not much to be excited with here.....track record speaks for itself....

As a scout...may be ok.....as a decision maker.....not so much.....

Grigson reports to Andrew Berry? Guess where Andrew Berry came from? Harvard & the Colts..weird? were these the 2 geniuses that took a long shot on Andrew Luck? than forgot the weapons protections programs..this may call for some serious coffee fetching

Luck holds on to the ball too fucking long. There is no OL that can help the dumb bastard. Again, it was ME who called out this draft pick a a fuck pick.

ghools come on dude. this hold the ball shi$ is way overrated. Just like Ben holding it for Ant Brn..Rogers to Nelson or Cobb Luck has had 1 T Y Hilton that runs a 4.3 40..i mean how fast & how far can any WR run downfield in under 3 seconds before your QB gets freight-trained? (wait for it.....OL play matters even at a dime a dozen)

As Gipper would say,

"Isn't he the guy who gave us a 1st round pick for Trent Richardson? I rest my case Your Honor!"

Sorry, but I'm not impressed with this acquisition. The Jury's out.

The only useful draft pick Grigson ever had was Luck.. literally everything else that dude did was a failure. He adds nothing. I have no idea why they did this - they are dumber for ever speaking with him.

Take note Ghoolie- this hire is getting universally panned by Browns fans.... Colts fans glad to see him gone. Terrible hire, just brought on the Captain for the Titanic. Though the Good Ship Cleveland was already 95% sunk as of last year.

Looking at the Organizational Chart- I have to ask- what the hell did they need this bum for? All I see is a guy who no brainered into Andrew Luck, and then proceeded to drive the Colts right into the ground.

From the Cleveland.com comments.....

"As a Indy fan I can tell you he is a total cancer to an organization. Toxic as they come and essentially let Pagano shoulder the blame for the team falling short. Letting a defense become ancient and trying to patch holes with aging free agents instead of building through the draft. When he did draft defense he did it poorly ie: Bjorn Werner. Refusing to protect Luck, granted his last pick 1st round pick of Ryan Kelly which if we are honest was a Irsay pick. The list just goes on. I hope for the sake of the Browns and what has to be the most loyal fan base in sports that he is doing nothing more than collecting a paycheck. You guys deserve better and I hope to see you guys dominate Pittsburgh and get a couple of SB's. "

I'll give them year one. They valued collecting a volume of picks to catch up with a deeper reboot than they thought....Grigson replaces Lake Dawson(great name) who left a week ago to go to Bills(Lake ll)...Bills a drafting mess also..Lets see how it works out. Maybe Homo Depot has Sashi installing football chips between their ears? When I heard Andrew Berry 2 years ago as VP of player scouting I thought big trouble. Berry may have a wick under his a$$ on this years draft picks imho..

I think Andrew Berry worked for him. Probably tossing a friend a bone.

I see it that the guy had to do something right to get a shot at GM. He's a scout. I dobut he is going to have much voice in the way we do business.

Meh... one add in a scouting role can't wreck this FO... and that's all he is... a "national scout".

If Berry wants him for some reason, that's good enough for me.

(What will this guy be doing anyway?)

But here is the proof of the pudding.

The Bengals lost supposedly "great OL" - I guarantee you that their offense will not miss a step.

The Browns added supposedly great OL - I guarantee you that their offense will be as shitty as it was in 16, maybe even worse.

Guarantees are no damned good unless they are backed up by cash payments by the Guarantor when the Guarantees are in default. You backing them up with cash?

The Andrew Berry hire was a head scratcher. Mediocre scout on a team that drafts as bad as Mike Lombardi. It was clear with all of Sashis hires he was just hiring whomever Fritz Pollard Alliance told him was at the top of their list in every position. Andrew Berry was big trouble.

Flash forward to last yeara draft, unorthodox and produced zilch, but okay. We can buy into the whole building a foundation, stockpiling draft picks for next year yadda yadda.

This draft? Clusterfuck to say the least. Drafted a DE with a poor work ethic who takes plays off, a kick returner who has drug and possibly purple drank issues witj a 1st round pick, a TE that can't block, a DT with red flags who was facing charges for hitting a woman and wasn't worth the risk and he idiotically skipped three really good QB prospects to draft Derek Anderson 2.0, a moron who can only launch deep balls, has no brains and folds EVERY. FUCKING. TIME he faces even a little pressure. Just call this draft the what ifs and hopes & dreams draft.

I was all for giving these guys a chance and "time" but after this dradt plus hiring Grigsby? Like I said, a loser mentality permeates the entire Browns Front Office and this stench of shit needs to be heaped on all the other piles of shit since the return.

I see there's only a single rational, reasoned response in this thread. Since this FO hiring last year, can't even count the number of people pining for a football guy. They hire one, and now come out the pitchforks.

Swear most football fans lack the cognitive awareness to speak on the game.

He's a scout here...do scouts pick players? Jfc some people...

Not a huge fan of the hire, but sometimes a person just isn't a fit for enhanced responsibilities. He was a director of scouting but, clearly, struggled with all the demands of being a GM and the ability to execute. Unlike most of the posters so far, I really like what the browns are doing in the draft and with Free Agency. I think they are executing their plan how they envisioned it. I love how people discount players after one year and yet EVERY TALENT EVALUATOR IN THE NFL says that it takes 3 years to fully evaluate a player and his abilities. Remember, this team was designed to be loaded with rookies and not be good last year. You can't replace 70% of the roster and expect them to all maximize potential year one. The Browns knowingly accepted this team was going to struggle but at the same time they are going to grow together as a team. IMOP, there is going to be a huge jump from last year to this year.

That being said, here is what was said about Grigson when he was originally hired by the Colts (scroll down to about half way down):

https://www.bostonglobe.com/sports/2012/01/22/colts-begin-new-era-with-ryan-grigson/jMArerFrUfoh8xXB0larPK/story.html

http://www.illinoishomepage.net/sports/local-sports/colts-hire-ryan-grigson-as-gm/104287079

I have two thoughts:

1.) Berry is throwing his old boss a bone and realized that even though he sucked at being a GM, he could evaluate talent well. The browns need someone to direct college scouting and this is what got him hired by the Colts originally as he was "at the time" very well regarded in this area

2.) Berry needs an errand boy and wants to completely stick it to his old boss and make him his lackey

I'm still not in total support of this hire, but everyone thought hiring pete caroll a second time around was a joke. Bill Belicheck was forced out of Cleveland. Josh McDaniels was canned as a head coach but now is considered one of the best OC in the game. You can list a number of former people who just couldn't handle more responsibilities of a job and returned to what they were good at and became successful. Not sure this will be the case but who knows.

His job in Philly was fetching coffee for that dumbfuck we fired years ago Tom Suckert. Let him go back to fetching coffee elsewhere, Cleveland needs for the first time since before the return a proven SUCCESS hiring other successes. This is nothing more than Holmgren 2.0 and Berry hiring his loser friends who can't get jobs anywhere else.

A scout that can't properly evaluate talent is worse than worthless though. If Grigson signed off on that stuff in Indy- be worried- very worried.

No, but they tell the guys who do pick players what their evaluations of them are- and if they're consistently wrong? Draw your own conclusions...

Ryan will be in charge of hot beverage & pastry procurement during his (hopefully short) tenure with the Browns.

One would hope so....

Does anyone think that this is Ghoolie in disguise?

The thought did cross my mind... But knows way more than Ghoolie ever would about the goings on in Philly....

Old Boy network recycling their pals... About as upset over this one as drafting Kizer.

Yes, it is all a vast conspiracy. Anyone who won't dream the Browns managers cum filled kool aid is obviously all one person. It can't be that multiple folks see the idiocy in the front office. Nahh.....

Well, you know how it is: "You people" all look and sound alike to me.

Dude are you trapped in Ghoolie's basement with a guy named Tommy? (Chong maybe) get to a window & blow in your Vikings dunce hat with horns & get help.Fritz Pollard does not have a room of reserved Harvard guys waiting on Depo & Sashi to call Fritz. Harvard's S. Brown went after Harvard. That's on S.Brown. Out of Wentz & Brock & Watson they have collected over 15 picks. Still have a good chance of Ogbah,C.Coleman,S.Coleman & Kessler developing into NFL talent. At least 4 more hits this draft imo. Kizer was the guy that fell to them..not giving away the farm to a class of Kizer's "hope he develops" QB's. The only connection I can put together on Grigsby & Berry is "Let's do it again" on finding the right Andrew Luck in next years draft. They have & kept the ammo at a better pro style QB draft class in 18. But with our Luck, it may take 2 farms to get us there from 5th to 6th pick
