bbedward
Better than O'Neil Horton didn't get entirely a fair shake while he was here for only 1 year - and we had a putrid offense so I don't hate the hire.

Clevfan4life
well that means we're not tearing up the defense most likely. Fuck that sucks. I had issues with Hortons 3-4 in that he routinely left Kruger and Sheard on the field with only two DL. I don't like having two hybrid jack OLB'ers standing up with only two interior lineman. If you're gonna do that just put the edges down and run a 4-3. Sheard and Kruger were never gonna scare anyone in coverage. I dunno maybe with orchard here we could do something. But if I see Kruger and Mingo on the field next year......doing the exact same thing they've done for years now, I mean who wants to sit through this another year? If you tear the defense up and let Horton build it than yeah, maybe. But it also means that Dansby likely is staying as he played in Hortons system in Ariz. Which is another irritation imo. We need to move on from both Dansby and Kirksey.

Flyin J
Our personnel is a joke. Haden had his best year under him. If he gets some players hes a good coach with a scheme that matchets our personnel. Good hire.
Mark O
Adam Schefter 2 mins · Facebook Mentions · Though Cleveland may be interested, Titans DC Ray Horton continues talking with Tennessee about staying. Horton even congratulated Mike Mularkey, according to Horton's agent Brian Levy, who responded with a terse statement in regards to his client's mindset. "Ray Horton is under contract to the Tennessee Titans," Levy texted. "Ray was extremely appreciative for the opportunity to interview for the head coach job. Comments about Ray's state of mind or feelings that are made by people other than Ray Horton are inaccurate and unfortunate and untrue."

Not that extreme, but a little like renting out a spare bedroom to a new, best friend only to find out he is married to your ex... http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2016/01/17/ray-horton-says-hes-not-insulted-and-hasnt-been-released-from-his-contract/ Horton rejecting this report? Reads more like confusion... "As to the report from the Tennessean that the Titans have released Horton from his contract so that he can join the Browns as defensive coordinator, Horton said, “As far as I know, that is not true. No one has contacted me to say I’m free to go anywhere.” The Tennessean reported that Horton has requested his release, and that the Titans have told Horton his request will be granted." Ibleedbrown
The initial article certainly doesn't paint a very rosy picture. "The year before Horton's arrival, the Titans ranked 14th in total defense (337.9 yards allowed) and 16th in points allowed (23.8). After his first season, they ranked 27th in total defense (373) and 29th in points allowed (27.4). This season, their second using a 3-4 defensive front and with LeBeau on staff, the Titans ranked 12th in total defense (342.2 yards per game) and seventh against the pass (229.9), but were still among the most scored upon units in the NFL, ranking 27th in the league in points allowed (26.4)." I suppose there's other factors, but going from middle of the pack to the bottom doesn't sound appealing. It sounds like he revamped things though, like took them to a 3-4. I guess we'll see. Bob806
We need to move on from both Dansby and Kirksey. I don't know about that. Dansby was one of the only bright spots on D, and Kirksey's going into his 3rd year. I'd draft a LB for sure, but give those 2 a shot in Horton's system. I'd draft a LB for sure, but give those 2 a shot in Horton's system. Dansby was most cert not a bright spot. In his defense though, apparently he had to lose 30lbs to play in pets system. I'm still baffled by that. He lost all his field strength. But he's way overpriced for his production, even in the best of circumstances. It would be nice to keep a vet around to teach a new group of young LB'ers like Pgh is doing with Harrison.
