Hollywood is a bunch of pussies

Sony decided to scrap "the interview" after threats by North Korea. Way to go, pussies, you just let terrorists dictate your life. And you took a shit all over the first amendment. Imagine the precedent this sets.

Not really hollywood, many small cinemas decided to pull it after threats and after some of the bigger chains started waivering (regal, AMC) Sony decided to pull it.

Personally 3 months ago I could care less about this movie, would have likely rented it, now I want to see it in the theater just to see what the fuss is about.

Like Sad said, this was really brought on by a lot of major movie chains. Also, how did they take a shit all over the first amendment? I mean, ya it sucks, and we should be able to watch it and not give in to "terrorists" but they did everything within their right, the movie chains too.

This is where the whole "my first amendment rights!!!" stuff goes a bit awry. Yes, you're free to make a film about how you're planning to assassinate a real person, but you shouldn't be in the least bit surprised when the person in question gets a bit affronted and, subsequently, some cinemas decide not to show it. I mean really, were they expecting this to just go off without a hitch? They could have made up a country/dictator which was an obvious parody of north korea - the east asian equivalent of durkadurkastan, maybe - and it would have been fine.

It's all about the money. They can get sued by folks if just one of the threats

turns out to actually occur.

The viciousness of all this nazi like terror, is to quell any criticizism, and to intimidate others to concede

the superiority, and join up with their sick movement....

or they'll torture and kill you. That's what it reminds me of - the terror and viciousness of the nazis.

I heard an interesting and probably accurate take this morning. It's not really the North Koreans anyone is afraid of but the American trial lawyers. We have enough crackpots in this country who for attention getting reasons might try some shit at a movie theater. Then the trial lawyers jump on that tragedy like a buzzard on a dead horse and sue Sony, AMC, Cinemark, any movie chain actually, for damages.

So who would bet against this promise? Sony pulled the film even though they didn't think there was much danger so it would be number 1 at the box office at a later time should they decide to release it. Which they are already hinting at. Think of it mid January release biggest film of the year no competition from the other December 25 blockbusters to open?

Doubtful, most films do not do well in jan\feb, and they would have rather it be out around x-mas to get everyone who is out of school for that time. This film may be the exception since I know a couple people(including myself) that wouldn't have seen it in the theater but will now this has gone down.

Sony pulled it for one reason(see your post a few posts back) no one wanted to be the theater that "something" happened at when there was warning and got sued.

Exactly. Any nut job that attacks a theater where this movie is showing is now Sony's problem, and they have enough issues right now. I think all of the Sony hate is completely overblown right now.

of course if they are going to release it on the internet remember what happened when the supposed YouTube video (that apparently no one ever really saw) sparked the deadly attack on the US Embassy?

;)

And this one will be seen by millions...
