CBS SPORTS Writer Jared Dubin reports that Hue Jackson and the Browns Front Office will likely offer Belicheck and the Patriots a trade for Garoppolo before draft day 2017.

Lombardi says Garoppolo is at the top of Hue's list with AJ McCarron second.

In my opinion this is the way to go! I'm not sure about the quarterbacks who've declared and I watch college football way more than the pros.

The Browns need a pass rush and should draft the best players available. If Myles Garrett is the BPA then pull the trigger and start rebuilding the defense now!

One sure way to totally destroy one's credibility is to use Mike Lombardi as a credible source. LMAO!!!

It's too early for this stuff...Let's wait & see what REALLY happens.

Great- offer them a 7th rounder- see if Bill will bite.

It's been discussed- if Bill thought Garroppolo was decent- why would he trade him? Brady turns 40 this year.

I wouldn't trade for Jimmy unless he was traded for a 3rd. Theres no way this guy is proven and if bill is willing to put gim on the block then what makes us think hes any good? Brady isnt going to play for much longer.

Didn't Brady say he wanted to play 5 more years?

id give a second, nothing more.

A 2nd rounder is the rumor. Go to 9-11. The game was at Zona with Jimmy G & 1 starting Lineman/ than Miami. Gumbardi opened the train doors back than. Robert Kraft & his Henchman our on the clock at seasons end. Some call Jimmy a system QB. Hell, our QB system is flushing out 3 QB's every other weekend .

Mike Lombotomy speaks.

Garoppolo was drafted #62 (I believe).

I'm always leery of Patriot backups being anointed as franchise quarterbacks.

Lombotomy.....hahahaha......

Hoyer? Mallett? Cassel?

Come to think of it.....has a NE backup QB ever left and been a star elsewhere?.....

Hmmm AJ McCarron is Hue's #2 choice to go after in the off season and RG3 was his first choice this season!?!?!?

He doesnt count(or fit the mold Im casting).... ;).....he was just a failed first rounder, more than some obscure backup.....(heisman winner too, right?)....

Not only that, it was a few decades ago. And you're right - he was a Heisman Trophy winner.

But, here we come with the first overall pick. The reason I wanted to bring up a QB like Plunkett is a fan base as well as a FO/Coaching Staff doesn't always peg a young QB in a bad setting accurately right off the bat. If one ever reads Steve Young's auto-bio about life in NFL Hell down in Tampa, he was starting to believe his hands were too small to make it in the NFL. Drew Brees ended his 3rd NFL season after about 12 games or so on IR with Colt McCoy-like stats on the team with the worst NFL record. With the first pick of the next draft San Diego drafted Eli Manning (who told them not to draft him so they had to fuss and trade with NY to use their pick to select Philip Rivers a few slots later). Rivers held out all of training camp and Brees went on to make the Pro Bowl in his 4th NFL season.

As we know, QBs don't get 4 years of patience in Cleveland. We're reading it's a possibility this franchise drafts an ACC QB with only 1 year of starting experience, which already concerns me. I don't think Trubisky sucks from what I've seen; but I also don't know what would project him all the way up to #1 overall. He's going to go from a playbook where he throws a lot of timing patterns to an area off of specified drops to reading progressions against complex defenses at the speed of the NFL game behind an offensive line already serial killing QBs that hold on to the ball too long.

When we think about the success Dak Prescott has had in Dallas, there needed to be injuries to Tony Romo and Kellen Moore for Dak to even see the field. Then again, that organization has been building up its offensive line prior to adding Zeke to give him an elite running game to lean on so heighten play action perks. They also have an experienced WR Corps. Could other rookie QBs have been just as successful as Dak in that environment? IMO, yes.

There's no more room for error with our 1st round picks so if we have the 1st overall pick - I'd hate to see us bullied into taking a QB at the expense of getting the pick of the litter at any other play maker position. I've followed this league a long time, and some years the supply and demand of 1st QBs just sucks. I'm not saying that's the case as much as I'm saying I'm worried my premature glance at it all is giving me a sick pit in my stomach.
