Actually, as we know, the bill will do nothing except make it easier for trial lawyers to snake in a little more profit. But let's pretend its a real goal. As the son of one a female physician I can confirm that. My mom was chief of staff at a hospital and some males that reported to her had bigger salaries. The fact that labor statistics list "single men" and "single women" does not account for those women who chose to stay at home to care for their children...entering the workforce at a much later age, therefore would naturally earn less than their male counterparts who have been working all along.
