Because it's never a bad time to remind everyone that NFL players are slaves?

"The South" never was about anything but slavery - the text of the articles of secession don't lie. The entire notion that it's about "a way of life" is 20th century disinformation.

1) "States rights" was not at all defended by the south -- they were fighting only for slavery and AGAINST states' rights.

The northern states exercised states' rights in refusing to comply with the federal fugitive slave act.. and because DC refused to "compel" them to obey, the south seceded.

2) Each and every "confederate war memorial" is a participation trophy. They lost. And, they'll lose once more if/when they attempt to "rise again."

3) Just to be clear: Southerners don't think black people are equal. That's in the text of Texas' statement of secession. [ "they were rightfully held and regarded as an inferior and dependent race" ]

4) I don't know why anyone from the South would actually think of revolting --- transfer payments from the North to the South are the way those states are able to exist. To phrase it another way, the actual Welfare Queens in this country are the citizens in each state that is part of The South.. and they're sticking those of us in the North with the bill.

Surprise: I'm not a fan of this move by MNF. Football doesn't need a less intelligent Flavor Flav for me to enjoy watching it.

Ah, from now on please send those payments in authentic Confederate Bills.:lol:

They are far more valuable now than those "real" US $.

EDIT: My Rhode Island Yankee wife is afraid some of you might take me seriously, "You are the least racist person I have ever known dear, so why do you post things like that." My answer to her was that it's more fun pulling tails than it is worrying about what someone on the internet thinks about me as a person.

"Just to be clear: Southerners don't think black people are equal."

Yeah totally bro. Not a single one of us. Idiot.

Aww, did someone's poor wittle fee-fees get hurt? Suck it up, buttercup.

That flag you fly [yes, I read the politics forum too] doesn't represent anything other than slavery and racism - and the fact that you fly it shows your support of those things and nothing else.

The one difference between the Confederacy and the North was slavery

Honestly, is there a more coddled bunch of losers than the Confederates?

I honestly cannot think of another group in all of human history that fought a war of treason and lost it terribly but continues to demand being celebrated and respected by that same country.

You're welcome to all the opinions you want, but you're not welcome to your own facts. That flag was flown as the Confederate battle flag --- and if you don't know what that means, go ask someone who has served. You might learn an objective fact for once in your life.

You want to "heal" the wounds that you started in the war? Then YOU put the flag away.

But, of course, I don't want to prevent you from admitting your inner dialogue when you look at the confederate flag: "Isn’t it bad enough that political correctness took away my right to buy, sell, and own other human beings? Now, the PC police want to take away the symbol of my desires, the emblem of my hatred? What more sacrifices can those liberals demand of me? They’ve made it so I can’t even use racial slurs without having people sidle away from me!"

Even the Whiskey rebellion was on a higher moral ground. And it's magical how you manage to sweep Bleeding Kansas and the butchery in Missouri under the rug in your ahistorical fan fiction. That flag is the symbol of all of that.. and nothing more. I can easily forgive young southern guys making stupid decisions to enlist in the heat of the social pressure/desire for glory that surrounds them. I can’t forgive people today justifying that stupidity after having, oh, 150 years to think it over.

There is no dignity in defending racism . There is no dignity in fighting to defend slavery. There's only your personal ignorance - and, of course, your ongoing personal desire to keep blacks not equal to whites. Look, I understand - nobody really wants to think Great Grand Dad fought for a really horrible cause. How about you just drink a tall glass of shut the hell up instead of trotting out your racist emblem and shouting “state’s rights” at every opportunity?

I happily wipe my ass with the Confederate flag - the flag of an illegitimate, treasonous, enemy of America.

Project much? Apparently Hank Jr.'s return got you pretty riled up too. Can't imagine what would be going through your mind on Monday night if you knew what team Hank is a huge fan of.

Yeah, far worse, Hillary voters.

This piece of work is so full of fail, lies, conjecture, and blanket statements that I simply don't have adequate time to rip it to shreds....plus its a football forum.

hee haw.

to each his own. country pretty split right now unless they're talkin browns football......they are all doubting us. flags mean something to people and their families that fought for or a against it's meaning. here in america it means more considering the lives taken to defend the symbol that it is. but we're talking football. everyone is doubting us.

Assume - making an ass of u and me.

I love the lectures with the underlying assumptions about what ALL of us from the south are like. As a kid I got my mouth washed out with soap for using the N word like many of my friends used. And as a 5 year old taking a bus to downtown Beaumont, Texas to the YMCA for swimming lessons, these very nice people had to explain to me why I could not ride on the bench seat in the back of the bus with them because of a sign I could not read that said only they were allowed back there. I personally have hated racism in all forms from that time since, and that includes the multiple confederate flags I have seen in Texas since our racist president first opened his mouth.

Unsympathetic-learn the difference between racism and sarcasm. Some of us in the south have graduated to the latter in reference to anything Confederate. Get a sense of humor.

Thanks for proving me right, idiot.

I did no such thing.

It's hilarious that liberals that believe truth and morals can change with the wind think the meaning of a flag must be written in stone, bound, and locked up forever. Your gender can change by the day, no problem. But a flag signifying something different 160 years later than it did originally? That's just unfathomable. Great stuff.

I've never once used the N word in my life. My grandfather on the other hand, never met him but have been told he was a huge racist. Guess where he was from? The great state of Ohio. Only time he lived in the south was as a drill instructor at Parris Island, SC Get off your high horse.

OK Unsypath, in your infinite wisdom you explained what the Confederate flag represents, now tell us what the American flag represents...oppression? racism? The illegitimate founding of a nation?

The same song and dance from libtards regarding Confederate flag you apply to the Stars and Stripes as well , so may as well get rid of that one too.

I mean, it's either you libfucks or Muslims that are seen burning or stomping on it. Right?

You can't be a supporter of America and fly the confederate flag -- pick one. I've chosen America.

When you talk about the virtues of secession.. you do realize that seceding means that you'd by definition no longer be American, right? You want to secede, you want to leave? Get the fuck out - you'll never be missed.

Stinkhole, you lost the war. Get over it, snowflake.

"We" won the war dumbass. I have never lived in the Confederate States of America. "We" have been the United States since 1865. Not sure why you insist the war is still on. Now the war against racism in all it's forms is still on and I know exactly where I stand on that whether I live in Texas or when I lived in Conn. And I have found it going in all the places I have ever been or lived. And I don't like it whether it is blatant or whether it is subtle. But I never fail to address it when I hear it.

You should probably stick to football. This is the football forum. But you are welcome to come over to the other forum,

and spew your ignorant crap.

Meanwhile, I'm glad they are bringing back the "Are you ready..." song - it rocked for Monday Night Football.

Speaking of buttercups sucking something up, gee whiz unsympathetic you seem irrationally outraged by the 19th century.

I'm personally of Irish descent and the American Flag is made up of the same colors and similar stars and stripes to the Union Jack.

I demand it be removed immediately also somebody send me a check.

?

But back-to the OP Hank Williams junior has absolutely no effect on whether or not I will watch Monday night football.

Each and every person and place flying the stars and bars.. including Hank Williams.. is still fighting the war. That flag was, is, and will always be the battle flag of treason.

You want to be a part of the US? Then you don't fly it. Simple.

Now if they can just get rid of the boring, stumbling Mike Tirico... they might have something...

As have I. You still fly the Ohio flag, right? You still respect flags with the Browns logo on it right? The confederate is no different.

Who exactly is talking about the virtues of secession? Quote that post for me. You're only proving to us that you're arguing against some redneck straw man that Cenk Uygur told you about, and not reality.
