This Week in the NFL Playoffs

Coming off my incredible prediction last week of of predicting the exact final score of the Green Bay game, many folks have come up to me this week and said "Oh, Great Zomboni, how is it that you are so good at predicting games ... is there really a crystal ball?"

Yes, my friends, there is really a crystal ball. But, the most important part of handicapping football games is this: Stick to your guns. Don't follow, trends, injuries, streaks, etc as the season goes along ... the line will change to reflect all that ... stick with who you thought was better to begin with ... stick with the teams you believe in.

And this year, I believed in Green Bay and New England. And tomorrow night that matchup comes to fruition. I guess that takes the drama out of my picks this week, so let's move on to the really big news: My selection of the 2017 Intern.

In honor of the "Final Four" in the NFL, I've decided to pick my new intern from one of the four cities/geographical areas left standing. Each metropolitan area has submitted their best candidates, and they have gone through the usual vetting of my staff, and now it it us up to me to pick. Here are the four candidates:

From Wisconsin, here is Packer fan Becky:

84334b9290e092089adeb3728933b9a9.jpg

Becky was raised on a dairy farm and keeps fit by cycling through the countryside in her panties. In addition to being a Packers fan, she enjoys making her own clothes and playing the skin flute.

From Atlanta, here is Falcons fan Jackie

Jackie works as a secretary in downtown Atlanta and has incredible organizational skills, as well as ball skills. In addition to being a Falcon follower she enjoys banana boat riding and nude rock climbing.

From Boston, here is Bambi

jordancarvermoviesm.jpg

We're not sure what Bambi does, but she has incredibly big tits, so she is the leader in the clubhouse.

And finally, from Pittsburgh, meet Steeler fan, Stella

Stella can keep a trailer clean, makes a mean possum pie, and still has several teeth. She was the top Pittsburgh candidate by miles.

Looks like some tough competition, the winner will be announced in our Super Bowl edition!

Now to the fearless picks:

Green Bay at Atlanta, NFC Championship, 3:05 PM

Aaron Rodgers outscores you in the snow, Aaron Rodgers outscores you in the cold, Aaron Rodgers outscores you in your home ... Aaron Rodgers will outscore you in a dome. There is a lot of shit-talking going on about Green Bay's defense, but they gave up less yards and points than Atlanta. And ... whatever, I'm picking the Pack. PACKERS 41 FALCONS 27

Pittsburgh at New England, AFC Championship, 6:40 PM

Bill Belichick takes away what you do well. Which means his defensive front seven will stay disciplined and stay in their lanes and control La'bia Bell to minimal damage. And his defensive secondary will have the perfect coverages for Antonio Brown, forcing Ben to dump off to others. And Tom Brady against the young Steeler D? Bitch, please. PATRIOTS 40 STEELERS 16

*2016 Playoffs R2* .. Prev ..... This ..... YTD
Straight-up .............. 2 - 2 ..... 2 - 2 ..... 4 - 4

Weather is a non-factor this week, so I gave Yanet the week off...

GB @ ATL (-4.5)

Offensive balance... one team has it; one team does not. Were this a mere QB battle, then even with the likely absence again of Jordy, I would not bet against Rodgers, but it's not... so I am.

Look for ATL's run game to be the difference in this one. Their 1-2 punch of Freeman-Coleman sets up Matty Ice's PA game to a WR corps that does not have to take a backseat to any in the game.

ATL 45 GB 38

PTG @ NE (-5.5)

I see real parallels to the NFC game here. Head-to-head how can you go against Tom Terrific? Add that Bill always "takes away what your team does best" and has to be the Pats.... right? Ummmm... no...

PTG has THE three-headed monster in the league at present in Ben-Bell-Brown. NE has Tom-Blount-Nick. Nick? Yes, as in nearly every one of his WR corps is "nicked".

Look for PTG to take away the NE ground game on their way to Tom. Look for NE's D to wear down as the game progresses.

One man's opinion NFL CHAMPIONSHIP WEEKEND edition.....

This isnt your fathers NFL. Offense trumps defense nowadays aided by skewed rules. Just look at this insane high total. But the over/under is justified. The Falcons have a historically-great offense. Its why they are going to the Super Bowl.

Green Bays offense is outstanding, too. No quarterback can make throws like Aaron Rodgers. But Rodgers doesnt have the weapons Matt Ryan has and Green Bays battered secondary wont be able to make nearly enough stops. Atlanta is averaging 36.5 points in its last seven games following its Week 11 bye. The Falcons achieved this against a number of respectable defenses, too, including the Chiefs, Cardinals, Rams, Panthers and Seahawks. The Falcons have scored 30 or more points in 12 of 17 games, reaching 40 or more in five games. They have a match-proof lineup of Ryan, Julio Jones, Devonta Freeman and Tevin Coleman....

Even if Nelson is able to suit up after sustaining multiple broken ribs two weeks ago, its a stretch to think he can be anything more than a decoy. This puts enormous pressure on Davante Adams and Randall Cobb both of whom are banged-up, too along with undrafted rookie Geromino Allison and Jared Cook, whose career has been dotted with inconsistent performances. Rodgers greatness can only go so far. Hes one man. The Falcons have the better team and playing in the final game ever at Georgia Dome.

~AND~

Have a bad game in the playoffs and your season instantly can end. The Patriots were fortunate to draw the Texans and the $72 million dollar lemon Brock Osweiler in their opening postseason matchup because they were flat. Play like that against Ben Roethlisberger and the Steelers and New England loses. Given a reprieve, though, look for the Patriots to prevail here.

No, the Patriots arent capable of turning a switch and becoming a dominant offensive force. Not without Rob Gronkowski and not with two liabilities in the offensive line, rookie left guard Joe Thuney and second-year center David Andrews. Those two inexperienced linemen leave the Patriots vulnerable to stunts and blitzes up the middle from Ryan Shazier, James Harrison and Lawrence Timmons. But what New England has going is the unmatched pedigree of making the playoff 13 of the last 14 years, including the past eight, a powerful home field edge, a fundamentally strong defense that is extremely well-coached and Tom Brady. Thats a Super Bowl formula......

New England and Pittsburgh met in Week 7 with the Patriots winning, 27-16, as 7.5-point road favorites. The Steelers didnt have Roethlisberger for that game while the Patriots had Gronkowski. Blount rushed for 127 yards and two touchdowns against his former team and New England held Bell to 81 yards rushing on 21 carries.

That pushed the Patriots record to 9-3 against the Steelers during the Brady era, including 2-0 in the playoffs. The Steelers are winless in four tries against Brady when playing at Gillette Stadium. Roethlisberger is easily the best quarterback the Patriots have faced since Week 10. But Bill Belichick has an excellent track record in knowing how to defend against Roethlisberger especially in Foxboro......

So what do do with all of these facts and figures? Well follow my #1 Championship Games betting rule BET WITH YOUR HEART BABY!

GB + NE go to the Super Bowl! ;)

O [promise you, that broad could out fuck the other three.

Who's kidding who? She'll have to stick to non-living battery operated objects that pulsate. There just isn't enough Moonshine in America to make that look hot. Nobody with 2 brain cells on speaking terms wants to power glue that outside of Atenears' buddy FatJeff, who's probably still on penicillin from an Escort Service gone wrong back in the day.

Or, was that Roethlisberger's first taker without date rape drugs or force?

I predict the squealers and pats will beat the hell out of each other because

the squealers took out brady's knees before the flip of the coin, and then

all rugby hell breaks loose, tomlin and buttichek get into a fight, and slap each other

all over the field, not causing any pain...

and the pats win in the second overtime because ben rapistbarfsbooger got ejected

for trying to hump the head referee, had to punt, and a patriot returned the kick

for td.

and the other 30 teams in the NFL call for the stupid commish to resign, and the two

teams are banned for life. The NFL becomes respectable again. The end.

Ya, I nailed it, alright. I saw them getting a garbage time TD to go to 16, but didn't see, them going for the two pointer. May have been a fogspot on my crystal ball, will have to have my new intern rub it hard for the SB prediction.

ATL 45 GB 38

Final: ATL 44 GB 21 - W/W

Solid start, pretty well nailing the potency of ATL's Offense, if not their balance, which was in truth, not really better than GB's. What was better was ATL's 3rd down performance.

PTG @ NE (-5.5)

Sorry Bill... I underestimated you. I promise I will not do so again... for at least a week. Not that it mattered, but PTG losing one head of the "monster" early, certainly did not help.

The "soft" front NE showed, out-waiting the most patient runner in the game, was going to contain Bell. Meanwhile the near-constant doubling of Brown was going to contain him... and the rest of the PTG WR corps simply did not rise to the task. Most notably Coates, who played with the worst case of "gator arms" I can remember seeing... and in situations where he was in no danger of being hit.

If Coates extends on the early 3rd-down play...

If Coates extends on the later throw into the end zone...

I'll be shocked if he can extend his Steeler career beyond the 2016 season.

And the "defenseless" approach? A soft-zone and a three-man rush? As the saying goes: "If at first you don't succeed... lose, lose again."

In jobs I have been associated with, sometimes more than one intern have been taken on. That spreads the work load, and the office can be more productive.

Ergo, I suggest a choice of two each......the Real "Killer Bs" Choose both Becky and Bambi. Share your (work)load between the two.

BR could go first. At times he has looked far more feeble.

I've wondered that for a few years now, a LB playing QB but getting beat up for a long time now.

The NFL can have a big party when they both retire hopefully soon.

BR has been pounded on a lot more....and at time has been very lucky that certain injuries were not as serious as they could have been.

But, of course, he has been a faker a lot in that regard. Though, with age, his escapability will diminish. I think his salvation somewhat is having a great O line coach (Munchak) who gets a lot out of the talent he has, some of which is mediocre, but plays well with his guidance.

And he's a big tree who can and does hang on to the ball longer than any other QB, great to help your receivers get open but not good for getting nailed by big angry dudes.

Oh saw him on TV today talking about next season.
