THE BROWNS BOARD

Disney's Frozen

Recommended Posts

I know Steve doesn't have kids and so probably doesnt fancy kids movies so ill go ahead and review this one. How to start?

Disney has bitch slapped Pixar right off the top of the mountain. The last three Disney theatrical releases have been so far superior to Pixar's that I'm not even sure they're playing in the same league anymore. This could be because John Lasseter has now taken the top job at Disney's animation studios or maybe not but the fact remains: Disney is king again.

Frozen is a typical classic Disney musical and I mean that in the best possible way. Princess' ilse and Anna are sisters in their kingdom but Ilse has a secret. She's able to manifest ice and snow and control them. A childhood accident nearly kills her beloved sister and so Ilse shuts her out of her life, isolating herself from het sister and everyone. In classic Disney fashion an accident befalls the king and queen and they die, leaving the young princesses behind. Anna grows lonely and sad and so when she meets a boy at Ilse's coronation she falls in love. When Ilse, now queen, refuses them permission to marry a sisterly quarrel ensues which reveals the nature of Ilse's power to the people of the kingdom. She is feared as a sorceress and flees leaving the kingdom a desolate arctic wasteland in her wake. Leaving her new love interest behind to watch over the kingdom Anna goes on a quest to bring her sister home and restore the kingdom.

A classic Disney effort: think little mermaid or lion king with bad ass CGI, the Likes of which is unmatched by the other animation studios. It makes efforts from DreamWorks and Blue Sky look cheap and even Pixar would have a hard time stacking up to it. Add the heart and soul that have made Disney Musicals so beloved for nearly 100 years and you have the recipe for another great holiday movie for the kids and adults alike

A - highly recommended for the target audience.

Thanks Cysko.

I review a fair amount of films in that particular style, just missed this one as there were others I needed to get to.

I don't have kids, and usually I don't like other peoples, but I enjoy kids movies especially those that are done well and usually everything from Disney ss first class.
