What was the first car you ever owned? or your Favorite car

Mine was a 1979 Grand Prix. What I liked about that car was the console and dash, all the belles n whistles (gages) you'd ever find in an auto. It was all black, with black high leather bucket seats interior.

First car I ever owned, was a 62 Ford Falcon. GGG It was a hs grad present, lol...

I always had dates "learn forward" so we would make it up the hill to Summit Mall and get to the movies...

first car I bought, was my all time favorite.

1966 metallic burgundy Chevy Belaire. A straight 250 six, 3 speed on the column. What a great car.

I would have kept it, but the frame rusted out at 92,000 miles, and there wasn't a place to bolt

shocks on anymore.

But my Chevy Silverado 4x4 extended cab is an awesome machine.

Yeah, I'd love to find one of those old trucks at an auction one day. Love em.

1973 Camaro, 307 turbo charged.

Very nice, T!!

I bought a brand new, initial year (1979) Mazda MX6. It was a lot of fun but I sold it in '88 because the two-seater just wasn't practical any more.

However, the first car I ever drove - and the one I miss the most - was a 1961 Impala - fins and all. Boy, do I wish I had that car now!!

My first car was when I got out of the Army in 1973, a I don't know what year "Austin America". 5 speed automatic POS. Broke down the morning after I got it. I payed for it by cashing savings bonds I had bought while in the Army. A few months later I bought a used 1969 Pontiac GTO. Fast as hell, but gas was cheap in those days. Kept it until I enlisted in the Navy. Great car!

Man, I love old trucks, I'd really like to own one of those someday.

You can bet I wish I still had the thing....had a lot of fun in that thing.

I don't have a truck at the moment...sold the little Chevy S-10 I had for 10-12 years.....just a weekend truck for lugging the 2-3 bails of straw I put on the yard each year...that sort of thing...I think I need to get another...just a weekend thing...or a redneck thing.....maybe I'll look for an oldie....I always thought the Chevy Apache was a pretty good looking truck....maybe a mid 60's model.

My first car was a 1964 Corvair, 3 speed floor shift with the longest "throw" between gears I ever saw...it was longer than column shifts! LOL

Second car was a favorite I bought in '69 after Army discharge...'66 Plymouth Barracuda fastback with auto transmission & 273 engine (I THINK that's right).

This was the best car I ever owned, a TVR Chimaera 5.0 litre - awesome car. Stupidly fast with an engine note of pure heaven.

A far contrast from the 60mph top speed Renault 5 first car!

The TVR was a hand made car from the north of England, I believe it failed the safety test for export to America.

52 dodge truck

I love Pick ups, old ones like that are the epitomy of America for me! I'd also love one.

I did look into importing an old classic mustang from new mexico once but I figured that it would just fall apart in the British weather.

1977 Silver Chevy Impala. It looked like your Grandfathers car which probably saved me from a few DUI's. No cool long haired young kid would be caught dead driving that thing....hey wait....what did I just say?

1957 Chevy. My dad bought it from a guy in Seven Hills for $300. He told me that i couldn't drive it until i could pay for the insurance. It sat in the driveway for two weeks intil i got a job at a grocery store. That was in 1973.

Bet you wish you still had the thing as well.

A lot of surfers are buiying up these old nastalgic old woodies to take out on the beach. check out the ebay pricing on these things it unreal.

That's crazy. Those are ok, certainly not my favorites. I like the Cherokees they built from around 97-2002 the best. Actually most cars from those years look much better than most of the new cars that are out today. I am not a fan of the smiley-face look that you see everywhere.

My first car was a 90' dodge Dakota exactly like the one in the picture. It was slow as two old people fu**ing and I hit five deer in one year with it so it probably went to the scrap yard when I was done with it.

My favorite cars would be any mopars from the early 60"s to the early 70's especially a Hemi cuda.

Now getting into something that I may be able to afford some day would be the 86-87 Buick Grand National.

And Running high 13's right off the showroom floor in the 80's was something.

I also get kinda chubby for the WS6 ram air Firebirds

  • 2 weeks later...
  • 7 years later...

Time to relive this thread:

1st - used red 1965 Mustang, 289, 4 speed, 4 bbl, nice 1st car, $1,300.

2nd and by far the favorite - used Camaro blue 1969 Camaro Z-28, sweet! $1,800, 16,000 miles.

302 ci, Holly dual pumper, Weiand high rise, 30/30 solid lifter cam, TRW 11:1 high dome pistons, Muncie rock crusher, Hurst shifter, 3:83 posi rear end all factory.

I added some Thrush headers, big M/T rear tires, rear air shocks, that's it.

3rd favorite among many - used white 1966 Austin Healy Mark III, $599. Buddy had a car lot. Always had two cars and a motorcycle.

4th - the only new vehicle I ever bought for me, blue 1978 Chevrolet C-10 short bed pickup, $4,180 out the door.

I also worked on all of my own vehicles.
