Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson joined Glenn Beck on his radio show Wednesday to discuss a wide array of issues, including the Islamic State threat, faith and domestic spying.

Toward the end of the interview, Beck conducted a “rapid-fire” Q&A session seeking simple “yes or no” answers in an attempt to get a clear understanding of where Carson stands on some of the most important issues of the 2016 election. Some of the issues are too complicated for one-word answers, so the candidate also explained the context behind his answers.

TheBlaze

Here’s a rundown of Carson’s responses on the issues.

Warrantless NSA domestic spying

“Terrible. No, can’t do it.”

Border fence

“The right kind of fence, yes….What has worked in the past, like in Yuma County, Arizona — a double fence with asphalt so you can get rapidly from point to point.”

Fine companies that hire illegals

“Absolutely.”

Deport illegals

“If they qualify as illegals. I would give people the ability to register in a certain period of time and if they have pristine records and they are willing to work as guest workers under the circumstances that we survive, they could stay. But they don’t become citizens and they don’t vote.”

Do you continue the “war on drugs?”

“Absolutely, I intensify it.”

Climate change, is it man-made and can we do anything about it?

Well, climate always changes. It’s either going up or down. We do have a responsibility to take care of our environment. That’s the real issue.”

National standards for education

“Absolutely not. The closer education is to home, the better the education is.”

Should the U.S. remain part of the United Nations

“I do not like the United Nations and unless they change I would not participate, I would defund them.”

I don't dislike him per se, but he stumbled and bumbled too much through his int with stephanoupolous on some knd of key questions. I would rather these guys say things like you know at this point I don't have enough key info to come to a complete decision. Instead they almost dig in and make stuff up on the fly, which i'm POSITIVE he did exactly that with this take on the big bang theory. Completely pulled out of his ass at a moments notice. Trump does the same shit just with more braggadocio.

Warrantless NSA domestic spying

“Terrible. No, can’t do it.”

I Agree but I'm on the fence, but I'd like to see some data on how many crimes the NSA prevented by warrantless watching - I don't know if it's successful.

Border fence

“The right kind of fence, yes….What has worked in the past, like in Yuma County, Arizona — a double fence with asphalt so you can get rapidly from point to point.”

Agree. A fence/wall does work - despite what anybody says. Sure, some will find ways around or under - but it'll still overall reduce the number.

Fine companies that hire illegals

“Absolutely.”

Agree.

Deport illegals

“If they qualify as illegals. I would give people the ability to register in a certain period of time and if they have pristine records and they are willing to work as guest workers under the circumstances that we survive, they could stay. But they don’t become citizens and they don’t vote.”

I'm on the fence, hard to tell if they have pristine records when you don't really know anything about them. I may prefer a touchback plan (a la Trump). Not sure how could you get records from the originating countries of the ones that are already here - I suspect most leave that behind.

Do you continue the “war on drugs?”

“Absolutely, I intensify it.”

Vehemently disagree. The war on drugs is an expensive failure and we need to re-evaluate the entire thing - start with removing the schedule 1 classification of marijuana at the federal level. Dealing with the rest is tougher, but strengthening borders and border patrol is important - keep as much as possible out.

Climate change, is it man-made and can we do anything about it?

Well, climate always changes. It’s either going up or down. We do have a responsibility to take care of our environment. That’s the real issue.”

Didn't really answer the question, but I agree - take care of the environment is a responsibility.

National standards for education

“Absolutely not. The closer education is to home, the better the education is.”

I partly agree, the reason I don't completely agree is because some crazy states may have an oddball curriculum - like no evolution.

Should the U.S. remain part of the United Nations

“I do not like the United Nations and unless they change I would not participate, I would defund them.”

Not sure what I think about this.

Do you find yourself nodding in agreement when hillary speaks?

There's many more alternatives to Hillary - why does everybody always assume if they don't like "their guy" (in this case Carson), that they support Hillary.

I don't like Carson, but I'd vote for Deez Nuts over Hillary.

I won't bother voting in the gen election if it comes down to Hillary vs Trump. That's a shit sandwhich I have zero intention of voting on.

Because hillary is going to secure the democratic nomination and in America there's really only two choices despite the illusion that there's more.

I'm not gonna lie, Trump is more appealing to me. I think the guys much, much smarter (and more sane) than he's being portrayed - especially if you look back at some of the public hearings and such he's been a part of.

I also like that he's not crazy about social issues. Pretty much a moderate across the board except for on immigration.

Not sure I'd vote for him (over Hillary, yes), but sitting back I agree with his non-interventionist idea for the middle east, lack of caring on gay marriage and such, lower corporate taxes (and repatriation tax idea), appreciate he was correct about upcoming terror attacks in 2000 and against Iraq in 03', among a few other things. Don't like his autism vaccine idea, I think he's too quick to chastise all criticisms, not too sure about his tax plan which seems like will just create a deficit, dislike his refusal to acknowledge climate change.

Yea but there's 10+ other candidates on the repub side, before we get down to the two choices.

Some of his ideas I absolutely agree with, problem is they're center left ideas that center left democrats have been talking about for years. I think he's just poaching some ideas from here and there and molds his message for whomever he's talking to. I just think he's a liar and in the end wants to be president for himself and not for us. He sees the Clintons making bank off their foundation and thinks, I can get in on that action. Being president he can set up some nice shit for later when he starts the Trump foundation. Betcha he even consulted Bill on how to do it. That should concern anyone no matter which side you're on. Guy has old mob connections too.

Trump is a bull in a china shop, to me. He says popular stuff, but his history of totally flipflopping concerns me.

I just don't trust him to be who he says he is. He isn't a leader, he's a brash circus barker who loves to get his way,

more of a vice than a virtue considering the train wreck our country is headed for.

We've already been burned as a country, by this current dirtbag in our WH.

I trust Carson to be exactly who he is, and his beliefs are genuine. He's grown into a man

who should be president.

I like this:

http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2015/10/20/ben-carson-lets-talk-eliminating-gun-free-zones-not-guns/

epublican presidential hopeful Ben Carson says that “logic and common sense” make clear it’s time to talk about eliminating gun free zones, not guns.

During an October 20 interview on WPHT’s Dom Giordano Show, Carson discussed the importance of the U.S. Constitution and the avenue to unity it provides for Americans of every race and creed.

Giordano then pointed to the disunity that exists between Republicans and Democrats regarding gun rights, and asked, “Why these battle over the Second Amendment?”

Carson replied:

There shouldn’t be a battle over the 2nd Amendment. I believe that it would be most reasonable to say, yes we see these tragedies that occur with guns and people using them in an inappropriate manner and, obviously, we should be concerned about that, so let’s sit down and let’s talk about reasonable ways to prevent this from happening without infringing on our 2nd Amendment rights. That’s what intelligent people do.

Giordano then pointed out how Democrats recoil when Carson criticizes the practice of forcing people to sit unarmed in gun free zones on school campuses. He asked Carson what it is like to go through that angry backlash from politicians and talking heads who dig in their heels to preserve gun free zones at all costs.

Carson said:

Logic and common sense is something that seems to have escaped many people. In fact, when you look at some of these gun tragedies that have occurred, it’s quite amazing how they seem to occur in the gun free zones. A lot of these shooters are people who are mentally unstable, but they’re not so unstable that they don’t recognize that, if I’m going to kill a lot of people, I need to go to a place where people are not likely to have guns and kill me.

Note this important point from Carson’s answer–Even when the shooter may be “mentally unstable” he is strangely stable enough to know he does not want to carry out his attack in a place where people can shoot back.

Her appearance yesterday did nothing but help her...90% of those republicans are too incompetent and McCarthy destroyed any last hope of credibility the Benghazi committee had.

It probably guaranteed her the Dem nomination (if she wasn't already guaranteed for it).

baloney. She came off badly. She could have stood up, ripped her clothes off, \

and stabbed everybody she could with a dagger....

and dems would say "wow, she'd be great as our president. she really helped herself....."

There is no democratic party anymore. They should just call it what it is - a socialist/leftist

extremist clusterfook satanic cult.

I think they've been body snatched by aliens, and they have mind control over weak, gullible minds.

she came off no different than she always has, she's Teflon. It was the buffoons up in the seats on both parties that came off like........like I don't even have words for. The only thing I could say is these people hold office?

And i'm sorry but Gowdy looks like a character straight out of family guy. I mean literally a football with human makeup. It's hard to listen to the words coming out of his mouth when you're fixated on what an odd bastard he looks like. An albino football.

The whole hearings were a joke. Republicans with their quite obvious agenda and the democrats with their quite obvious anti republican agenda. No one really wanted to get the bottom of what happened in Benghazi cause the blame would be spread too much out for there to be any potent politicization of it. And of course we have to politicize the deaths of American citizens whenever possible.

Well, she will do worse for our country that Obamao has been able to do,

despite his determination to destroy our stability financially, morally,

spiritually, and legally.

and Cleve defends higgardly's corruption by attacking Gowdy's appearance?

Man...talk about a typical emotional knee-jerk - that is definately one of them.

Getting back to the subject of the thread -

Trump said Carson had a lack of energy. I love Carson's sense of humor:

Good point. We'll see how it goes - I don't remember Huckabee and Santorum

having any kind of surge like Ben Carson has been consistently having.
