The Gipper
Here is some trivia about the Draft, reflective of the fact that this process is taking forever...so there may be a few off the wall questions: 1. Since the Browns joined the NFL in 1950 they have had the #4 overall choice just one single time. Who did the Browns take with the one #4 pick. Hint: quite an outstanding player. 2. Since the Browns joined the NFL in 1950 they have had the #26 overall choice three times. Name any of the three players they took at #26. Hint: These are extremely obscure and you should consider yourself an Extraordinary Gentleman if you can get one. 3. Who is the highest ever draft pick...in terms of overall choice, since the common draft of 1967..drafted out of Akron U? 4. Jack Lambert was selected out of Kent St. with the #46 overall choice in 1974. Three other Kent State players in history have been selected with a higher overall pick, since the common draft of 1966. Name any one of them. 5. The Browns facility is located partially on the Baldwin-Wallace campus (I believe...or it used to be). Since the common draft began in 1966 name the only single player drafted by the NFL out of Baldwin-Wallace. 6. Since the draft began in 1936, which draft class (year) has produced the most Hall of Fame players? Note: 10 players selected for HOF 7. On the other side of the coin....between 1936 and 1990 there have been 3 draft classes in which not a single Hall of Fame player has been selected (to date). Name those 3 years. 8. As a hint to the above question, no year in the 1970s went completely barren of having a Hall of Famer selected....but...there are two years in which one single player has made the HOF....and in each year that player was a running back. Name these two draft class years. 9. Now, since 1993 there are only 7 draft round...but...To this day, only one single player taken in the 6th round of the history of the NFL draft since 1936 has ever been selected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Name that player: (note...that will change when Tom Brady is eligible) 10. As noted above, the NFL draft went from 12 rounds to 7 rounds in 1993. A. In which year did the Browns make the most selections in the draft since 1993? B. In which 2 years did the Browns make the fewest selections in the draft since 1993? 11. Who is the "oldest" player drafted by the Cleveland Browns that was still active in the NFL in 2013. By this I mean not age, but the player picked in the earliest draft class. 12. Not including the 2013 draft class, which Browns draft class, taken since 1993 was the very worst in terms of combined overall production of the members of that class? (note: using the PFR career production average statistic).

The Gipper
I'm really stumped on these Gip.... Only one I think I know is 1) Otto Graham No. Otto Graham was the #4 overall pick in the NFL.....by the Detroit Lions in 1944. The Browns hadn't been created yet. On the issue of the difficultiness of this quiz. I guess that is what happens when I try to put together so many draft related trivia tests....things get more obscure the more I have to do. The Gipper
Here is some trivia about the Draft, reflective of the fact that this process is taking forever...so there may be a few off the wall questions: I think I am going to put this set of Trivia out of its misery, as after looking at it, there are too many obscure answers. So I will just give them. Getting the 4 that were answered was actually probably pretty good. I will replace this with a better set. 1. Since the Browns joined the NFL in 1950 they have had the #4 overall choice just one single time. Who did the Browns take with the one #4 pick. Hint: quite an outstanding player. Gary Collins WR Maryland, 1962 2. Since the Browns joined the NFL in 1950 they have had the #26 overall choice three times. Name any of the three players they took at #26. Hint: These are extremely obscure and you should consider yourself an Extraordinary Gentleman if you can get one. 1950 Jim Martin OG 1951 Bucky Curtis WR 1964 Billy Truax TE 3. Who is the highest ever draft pick...in terms of overall choice, since the common draft of 1967..drafted out of Akron U? Charley Frye #67 overall (next was Jason Taylor #73) 4. Jack Lambert was selected out of Kent St. with the #46 overall choice in 1974. Three other Kent State players in history have been selected with a higher overall pick, since the common draft of 1966. Name any one of them. John Brooks #44 1967 Jim Corrigal #33 1970 Gerald Tinker #44 1974....two picks ahead of Lambert, same year.. 5. The Browns facility is located partially on the Baldwin-Wallace campus (I believe...or it used to be). Since the common draft began in 1966 name the only single player drafted by the NFL out of Baldwin-Wallace. Tom Graham 1972 WR 8th round (relation to Otto? dunno) 6. Since the draft began in 1936, which draft class (year) has produced the most Hall of Fame players? Note: 10 players selected for HOF 1964 with 10 HOFers: Bob Brown, Carl Eller, Charley Taylor, Paul Warfield, Mel Renfro, Paul Krause, Dave Wilcox, Bob Hayes, Leroy Kelley, Roger Staubach Second was 1957 with 9 HOFers 7. On the other side of the coin....between 1936 and 1990 there have been 3 draft classes in which not a single Hall of Fame player has been selected (to date). Name those 3 years. 1943, 1958, 1986 (there were 9 HOFers in 1957, but none in 1958 and only one in 1959: LeBeau) 8. As a hint to the above question, no year in the 1970s went completely barren of having a Hall of Famer selected....but...there are two years in which one single player has made the HOF....and in each year that player was a running back. Name these two draft class years. 1972 Franco Harris 1977 Tony Dorsett 9. Now, since 1993 there are only 7 draft round...but...To this day, only one single player taken in the 6th round of the history of the NFL draft since 1936 has ever been selected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Name that player: (note...that will change when Tom Brady is eligible) Jack Christenson 1951 Detroit Lions 10. As noted above, the NFL draft went from 12 rounds to 7 rounds in 1993. A. In which year did the Browns make the most selections in the draft since 1993? 2000: 13 picks that year. First pick: Courtney Brown. Best pick: Dennis Northcutt B. In which 2 years did the Browns make the fewest selections in the draft since 1993? 2008 5 picks, first pick: Beau Bell. Only good pick: Ahtyba Rubin 2013 5 picks, first pick: Barkevious Mingo. So far he is the best even with his limited production...but we shall see. 11. Who is the "oldest" player drafted by the Cleveland Browns that was still active in the NFL in 2013. By this I mean not age, but the player picked in the earliest draft class. Chris Crocker was the Browns 3rd round pick in 2003. Played with Bengals. 12. Not including the 2013 draft class, which Browns draft class, taken since 1993 was the very worst in terms of combined overall production of the members of that class? (note: using the PFR career production average statistic). It is the 1995 draft, by far. 1st round pick Craig Powell played 14 career games. Eric Zeier QB played in 28 career games with little results. Mike Frederick, a DE played a while as a backup...had 2 career sacks. 3 of the 6 picks that year never played in the NFL: Tau Papua, Mike Miller, AC Tellison. Now, this was not as bad as it could have been as this was the draft class we left for Modell to take to Baltimore......and it is just too bad that Baltimore did not continue to have drafts this bad. The next year they got both Odgen and Ray Lewis.
The Gipper
As noted above, the 1986 draft class has had no Hall of Fame players come out of it. Here are the best candidates: Charles Haley....has been a HOF finalist a number of times. Pat Swilling....most productive player from that year. Bo Jackson...most spectacular player....but career cut short Tony Cassillas Jim Everett Leslie O'Neal Will Wolford Keith Byars Pepper Johnson Mark Rypien John Taylor Seth Joyner Clyde Simmons a lot of good players....just not quite Hall of Famers (though Haley may get in sometime)
