Anyone Else At The Game?

Really great atmosphere in the 4th during the comeback...

... Then that...

Ya I was there, so was Zombo.

Understand- the Browns are still finding new and exciting ways to lose games- every week.

Man that had to be brutal live and in person.......... Lord knows it was here, 2,000 miles away.

I will say this- I was there live and in person for Red Right 88, that was much worse. The only thing this blunder does is improve our draft position- and most likely gets us one game closer to a total house cleaning. Losing to a decimated Ravens team was probably the last straw.

Wouldn't even surprise me if Pettine is gone- effective today.

Was the overall feeling of the fan base that they are done with Pet?

Listening to the post game on my way back to my pal's house- the local heat on Pettine is now at blast furnace level. He's as good as gone, maybe Farmer too.

The fanbase will not tolerate yet another 2-14 season, and that may well be where this toilet flush is heading for.

The feeling at the game was one of hope- but OMG- we played like total crap on the national stage. Some good plays interspersed with a comedy of errors.

I was pretty much drunk. Regardless the end was great until the end. I didn't know what happened because it seemed so fast.

I very briefly met hoorta, zombo for a drink. Wasn't much but I'm probably immune to talking shit about either of them because they're pretty good dudes.

On my 69th Birthday, I sat in those stands & watched a new level of ineptness. On the way out, one young man referred to Pettine as "high school Mike" & that about sums it up. He & his staff had TWO WEEKS to throw this dung heap at us Fans. He hasn't yet addressed the non performance of his defense. It is SO bad that a Team whose offense has been decimated by injuries went for it on 4th & 1 from their own 26. They didn't even run the play clock down to see if we would jump offside &, of course, they made the 1st down. A GOOD coach would have used that level of disrespect to motivate his players, but he has lost them. At this point, I truly believe he HAS lost the Team. Poor defensive scheme, running 3 defenders on & off EVERY play (wonder why they're dragging late in games?), & the usual horrible clock management is NOT the way to build your players' confidence in you MIke. Regardless what some may think, this Team has more talent than a 2 win team, but they ARE the laughing stock of professional sports & they are NOT motivated. Pettine IS the HC & he should be ASHAMED of the product he puts on the field.

I am totally loyal to the Browns & believe in continuity, but continuity of WHAT? Continued growth or continued regression? As I see it, continuity of REFUSING to acknowledge his & his schemes own shortcomings are killing this Team. You won't grow until you admit YOU have room for growth & Pettine won't. And don't think I'm on a drunk rant folks, I had 2 beers all night.

Two positives...

1) First pick in the draft (if used properly).

2) I should be able to get the season ticket upgrade that I want.

I was there and after the game, walking up west 3rd street, no one seemed to care. Everyone was of the mindset, " It's the Browns. Oh well."

Pretty sad that we all pretty much didn't really care

Watching the videos of the Browns fans tear off their jerseys in frustration is an image that made me really sad. Just when you think you've seen it all...

Add in the non-tackling on the punt return, another paltry 51 yards rushing (minus McCown's 12) behind our supposedly stellar o-line. A total blown coverage in the secondary. The High School clock management and play calling in the last minute. Well, that's why we're in line for the first pick in the draft. #32 in the power rankings today- count on it. Have to echo Canton Mike- you had two weeks to get ready for this game and this is the best you could do? Embarrassing.

It's always been wait till next year- but me & Mike are running out of "next years." Heard a tweet on the way home "The Browns are two years away from being two years away."

Finding new and exciting ways to lose- every week. I agree apathy has set in. The way they played Monday night- they might have lost if they were playing Ohio State.

Not that would be a worthwhile bowl game...

the problem is this..there are board members who keep insisting we have to stop this housecleaning after 2 yrs or so for continuity. I think alot of these coaches we had cannot coach and the gm's we had and have now are terrible. So what are we suppose to do, keep these not qualified personnel around for 5 yrs. If you got what it takes, you can usually tell during the 2nd yr. Even if you are losing, if there is some kind of upward momentum, then ok lets keep going. But this shit that we have had and have now is quite the opposite. We have lost 14 out of the last 16 games and are in a downward spiral. Bad coaching and lack of talent has gotten us again to this point and that is on the owner. I hate to say it, but there needs to be changes again. We can't keep what we have now and succeed, no fucking way...

I've alwasy been big on the Browns needing continuity (and they do). But continuity just for the sake of continuity isn't good either. You must be sure you have the right people in place and then have some patience with them to produce results. I thought we had finally gotten the right HC in Pettine but with the disaster this year along with the failure at the end of last season He has not given me much confidence he is the coach who will turn things around. He has said all the right things that I wanted to hear but it has not translated onto the play on the field and wins. For example both Pet and O'Neil were talking before the season started about how we might have one of the elite defenses in the league but instead we have gotten one of the worst. How could they get it so wrong? About everyting I was expecting this season never happened such as getting a running game. The offense has done well considering we have not had any kind of running game but the defense has been the huge disappointment. I wasn't expecting much out of the offense but I was expecting to see us win some games with our defense this year.

Last night only proved the old cliche that winning teams find ways to win and losing teams find ways to lose. We found a new way to lose against the Ravens.

Right- coaches like Noll and Landry may have been stuck in the mire for a few years- but at least they didn't get worse. They stockpiled talent. We're into year two of a rebuild, and anyone see some new studs we were promised on defense? We have one wr in Benjamin that might start for a playoff caliber team. Our supposedly studly o-line can't run or pass block worth a crap. I think that's on the coaching and talent evaluation.

I still maintain my belief that we have an elite OLine. Every other unit not so much - before the season I thought our defensive backfield would be elite status as well - with weaknesses being playmakers and defensive front - of course that didn't pan out as the entire defense sucks.

Noll won 1,5 and 6 games in his first three, but Landry won 0,4,5,4 and 5 in his first five. Good enough?

Yeah it was the same after the Denver game, and that was before the season was over. No one else seemed to care that Pettine blew that game.

I get pissed not because we lose, but because the way we lose. Seeing the same mistakes over and over is just maddening. The next coach should be forced to watch every game since '99 before they get the job, hopefully they'll learn something so history can stop repeating itself.

For those that were at the game. We believed in the tavern there was a loud chant of Asshole in the first half that was loud & clear on TV. What the hell was going on out there??

It was nice meeting you, always cool to put a face with a screenname.

Ya ... I was there and there were three things that happened at the end, all of the disturbing variety. We had great Club seats we were at about the 30 yard line where the game unfolded at the end, so we had a great view of the entire disaster:

1. The Spot. It seemed to us like we got a shitty spot after the Davis slide, which cost us valuable yardage.

2. The Run. Just when you've think you've seen the last of "Metcalf up the middle" we run Duke Johnson up the middle on the most important play of the game. We couldn't run, we can't run, we are never going to run this year ... just abandon it other than to keep defenses honest during the game. Don't ever run when with this team when you actually need yards. There was eight or nine seconds ... you throw a short out to Hartline or Barney or someone and get another 5-7 yards and the FG is a totally different animal, the trajectory is not so low, and it doesn't get blocked.

3. The Ravens were lined up in the neutral zone. It was clear as day from our seat, Roach called it, and the pictures today verified it. We were not offsides against SD ... the Ravens were against us ... we got neither call and lost two ballgames. God hates us. The penalty moves us up five yards, we kick again, and the percentage are increasingly better from 46 than 51.

Not even getting into the clock management, you have all covered that, but it needed to be called when Davis was standing there trying to get out of the pay call against a defense he has never seen in a situation he probably never practiced with the first team ... Pettine left him out there, and let the clock run down, and it was shameful.

You never get used to this. We were in disbelief and then made the walk home shaking our heads and trying to wrap our brains around it. It was like a scene from The Walking Dead, with everyone shuffling away from the stadium with their heads down.
