THE BROWNS BOARD

If Interested, Derrick Henry & DeMarco Murray

Recommended Posts

Living here in Nashville - here's what was on local television tonight:

Murray had 6 carries for 93 yards and 1 TD in the first quarter.

Henry had 10 carries for 74 yards and 1 TD in the 2nd quarter (although TN still had their starting line out there against SD's backups up front).

Henry looked impressive though. Aggies has to be smiling about his prediction. BTW, Murray looks like he can play well outside of Dallas despite what his critics have said...

All those numbers compiled above were in the first half. Even Bishop Sankey got loose in the second half. I've never thought Bosa was a football messiah; but the San Diego Chargers are outside their minds if they think they need to keep penny pinching that contract from getting completed.

I REALLY wish we went after FA Center Ben Jones that TN signed away from division rival Jax.

Meanwhile Zach Mettenberger did a terrific impersonation of Brady Quinn holding onto the ball too long in the pocket going 2 of 8 against his old team in the 3rd quarter. He looked terrible.

That is a great idea!

Except he doesn't wear shoes before every game. Always walks the field barefoot....

except for Cleveland. It was too cold. lol !

If Irving doesn't pan out at center....too bad, but Jones would have gotten frostbitsies on his toesies.

I'm glad I didn't have any beverages in my mouth when I read the last part Cal. God bless ya!

TN returns 3 guys that started games on their offensive last year that gave up a league worst 54 sacks. We even hit them up for quite a few. 1st round OT Lewan, 1st round OG Warmack, and OG Spain or Bell (who got injured again in OTAs I think). Like us, they had to replace their Center and an OT this offseason. They paid FA $ for Center Ben Jones and they prioritized OT Jack Conklin in round 1 of the draft.

Following a huge down pour prior to opening kickoff yesterday, TN kept their projected starting offensive line in for the entire first half and ran the ball extremely well...

DeMarco Murray looked like he was back in Dallas enjoying the value of a good run blocking line. Not too much later, Henry looked like a more powerful version of Eric Dickerson. Not getting touched some 5-6 yards prior to a collision doesn't hurt the physics of it all. As I said earlier, even Bishop Sankey got loose later on as that running game rolled up about 288 rushing yards.

I put those game highlights on the other thread. Tenn. looked ready to rock and roll.

Thanks Aggies! I just watched it.

I saw the game in it's entirety though. They looked good running the ball regardless of what RB it was.

Murray is worth a trade if the Browns will pull the trigger. We need a running game or it's 2015 all over again.

Running keeps the D off the field longer

Running keeps the qb upright

Running tires the D and puts men in the box .. Great for mismatches Etc

Oh fuck you guys know how imporntant that is. I dont like the RB's we have now. We need a vet.

LOL! We had our shots at Henry or Elliot. But we thought it was more important to drop down to wr's and DE's and stock up with unknowns next year. However I would watch who Tenn. drops because they have 4 good backs now.

It is less the RB and more the blocking. The Browns could have Murray and Henry. I still think they would struggle behind that line.

It's always impressive to me when a team executes well early in the preseason because most teams can't find their ass with both hands and a map. Now, everyone knows that there is basically zero correlation to playing well in the preseason and playing well in the regular season, but still...it was fun to watch them run the ball.

I don't know why, but I've always rooted for Mariota. I think he's a class act that worked hard and kind of proved a lot of people wrong last year. I'm not saying he had a GREAT season, but as a rookie on a bad team, I thought he did some nice things. Sure, he had some real clunkers (ahem...against us, lol), but he also showed some moxy that game and damn near engineered a comeback. That 4th down TD to Dorial Green on Joe Haden was gorgeous. Pissed me off that Haden couldn't defend that crap, but whatever. We still won mainly due to a killer play by Manziel. *sigh*

Regardless of preseason status, I was VERY surprised to see the agility and vision by Henry...especially at the damn goal line. He displayed great feel and vision when the TD play got blown up, and he punched it in. Goal line running is an art, and not everyone can do it. This is one of the things that Crow struggled with, and I can think of a couple times last year when Crow ran into the wrong gap last season that ended up costing us dearly.

"Henry had 10 carries for 74 yards and 1 TD"

Something I didn't know, Henry had a 71-yard TD run. So outside of that it was presumably 9 carries for 3 yards?

Not sure whether to be please with that or not.

I believe Demarco Murray had the 71 yarder, but I could be mistaken. Henry had 10 carries for 74 yards, with a long of 16.

Henry and Elliott are just as "unknown" as the guys we picked. Just because a guy is a high pick RB...don't mean he will do diddley. Can you say Trent Richardson?

The only thing Henry and Richardson have ever had in common was Alabama. It's time to lose that sting and realize the difference is night & day between the two. And if Lacy can continue his weight loss he just might equal Henry some day. It's also time to make the comparisons to the Jim Browns and Eddie Georges of the NFL and not other Bama backs. Henry is a throwback to that kind of size, speed and power. And as I have flatly stated multiple times, he is going to make the Browns and the Browns Board rue the day we did not take our shot. Ogbah had better make all pro some day to make up for it.

And SD's Defense which ranked 26th vs. the run in 2015? How long did their starters play? Hell even Sankey averaged 17 YPC with a 41 yd TD run.

Everything is relative...

THIS is stupid. The guy hasn't had a single carry in an NFL game ans you want to mention him in the same breath as Jim Brown?

No, its not stupid, it INSANE

Yeah but I apparently the starting front 4 for SD only played like 4 run plays and they were all under 2 yards for the Titans. So this performance is much ado about nothing.

It's my prediction. He has all the tools and sooner or later you will agree with me. For the moment however to each his own.

LOL I thought I had brought it up a tad with my Tyler Lockett selection last year. :D

He's now #2 behind Baldwin there in the depth chart. He is #1 for punt and k.o. returns as well. So that should give me extra credit for predicting that he would be more than just another wr. :P

Besides I'm more out on the limb with my Dak prediction as the Boys QB in waiting. But that one doesn't count until Romo hangs it up.

I was once in a Christmas Carol sketch where I played bob marley, instead of jacob marley. Instead of 'three ghosts' scrooge was visitied by 'tree goats'. We used that exact picture, I believe.

It wasn't very funny.

Well Henry (regretfully) is not a Brown either. But I'm counting him as my prediction for success just like Lockett and Dak because the Browns should have taken all 3.

PS_well at least two old goats won't be butting heads over Dak. :D
