THE BROWNS BOARD

Hue Announces RG3 is the Starter

We knew that they brought him in to be the starter.

To draft him almost cost us a ton of picks.

Now he's our starter costing zero picks. Did we get good value this time? Or are we still wasting time? (please be good RG3)

Now it's going to be really interesting what they do with Josh.

Browns have set Their Value on Josh as a 4th rounder from Dallas. Don't think that will change from now to trade dead line..Nice to be in the drivers seat finally ^_^ ..Josh's wife & kids still live in Charlotte, NC. Got my ears on..

No team wants McClown. He's a serviceable backup at best.

Take a look at some of the backups around the league. Pretty thin.

A contender could use a guy like Josh as insurance if they need a guy that can play well for a three game stretch if needed.

Hope Josh stays right where he is for a few years. Dude is a great back up QB and vet.

Love listening to guys bag on him, usually people that watch three games a year.

He was in the top 5 of QB's at the beginning of the season last year when he was healthy throwing to a midget squad, before Mikey P. fed him through the meat grinder and he still refused to come out.

Does he have a canon? No. Could be win a ton of games and keep you competitive? Yep.

I feel like being competitive is often overlooked... Sure you want that Franchise QB some day, but what happens when you don't have one and you play like shit all year? The rest of the team is stagnant and nobody progresses. And you get to watch 4 different QB's a year...

Giving Josh up for a 4th rounder that plays on the punt return team? Pass.

I agree. You keep McCown unless someone offers something stupid for him.

The likelihood that Griffin gets hurt is greater IMO than him becoming an above average QB in the league again. Not that I'm not rooting for him, it's just the reality of the situation. If McCown is dealt, we have no one who can come in and start if (when) we need it.

And the full (preliminary) depth chart.

- Pryor is listed as starting WR opposite Coleman.

- Drango is starting RT

- Xavier Cooper and John Hughes are the starting DEs

- Campbell and Poyer are the safeties, unsurprisingly.

- Cody Kessler is QB3 ahead of Austin Davis, probably means Davis won't be here in september.

- Corey Coleman is listed as starting PR

I gave up on McCown years ago. He was handed the keys to a Cardinal team that invested a lot in him. He is a nice guy and now a fragile qb.

but McCown has the heart of a lion, and can play. He's even been a wr on occasion in the past.

Having him in the locker room, is priceless. He's had ups and downs in his long career, but

he has had some major highs.

He plays, like we've seen, with reckless abandon if he runs, and has seen it all. He loves the

challenge, has as much courage as any qb who ever played the game. His physical, kick ass play

has gotten him injured. He's respected by the entire locker room. And while a backup qb...

he is ready to go in at a moment's notice, and run with it. He's tough as nails. I'd love

to see him be a coach if he wants to.

There is NO addition by subtraction about McCown. You lose his leadership and his example of

how to approach the game. And, last year McCown threw for just over 450 yards vs the ratbirds.

Look at it this way - if RGIII gets hurt again, probably by an illegal blow to the knee after the play

is well over, by the squealers... you do not want to play the rest of the season with Kessler, a rookie,

or Davis, who I would trade to Dallas.

Kruger starting over Ogbah. I find that interesting.

My guess it's because Kruger is a vaguely serviceable starter and they don't want to just hand jobs to rookies. Though, they have at RT and WR1, so who knows.

I think they probably just don't want to rush a guy in when they have an experienced starter ready to go, and can ease him in.

I like mccown but he's not the answer for this team. He'll make a nice backup that's what his destiny is.

Same can be said about RG3...

I do agree Josh is not the answer, however, but only because this team is not ready to make the playoffs let alone contend for a championship now. McC will give some contender who loses their starter the best chance to keep winning. Until that situation develops, and it will develop, he's our back-up.

I was a little surprised that Poyer is ahead of Moore and a lot surprised that Drango Unchained is the man at right tackle already. Good for him.

Rg3 was the number 2 overall pick not too long ago. We owe it to ourselves to give him some game time and see if the geographical cure works for him. We've seen mccown bounce around enough to know that toxic situations aren't his problem. His problem is that he's a journeyman with journeyman level talent. Griffin has only played for one team and it's entirely possible that the situation just went bad.

Glad to see Cooper and Hughes are [finally] where I thought they'd be.. Starting DE.

Nassib and Ogbah and Schobert are so far back? Especially.. Schobert behind Mingo?

Scooby is 3rd string.. behind a Tuggle not named Jessie? Can't believe that will stay.

Louis is the highest rookie WR not named Coleman.. interesting.

Kindred over Desir? Interesting.. I thought Desir had better quickness.

Mathews not the #2 center?

Gotta love Telfer as the unexpected #2TE..

I swear I'll punch something if the Browns carry a FB this year, neither of those guys are NFL players..

Good thoughts, I think in the past Hue has used an H-back type of guy so maybe they will ditch the fullbacks and keep an extra guy listed as a TE.

Has anyone that was watched the scrimmages noticed any FB action?
