Clevfan4life
can't paste the article here cause explorer and this msg board are apparently on bad terms....but apparently Terrence West, who?, is impressing enough that Shanahan is talking about a RB by committee approach. Not that I disagree with it, but what does that say about Tate that a rookie is looking good enough that the OC doesn't come out and say Tate is the starter but will be spelled often by this rookie or someone else in order to keep him fresh. Tour2ma
Not really surprising... Like his daddy, Kyle's preference for a RB by committee approach is already well established. But it's just a preference going into the season. It doesn't mean a RB does not break out and have a league leading year as happened in many years at Denver and Washington. miktoxic
i expect one of our guys to have at least 1k rushing from LOS, that is, if the right side can hold up it's end.

I think this as much of West impressing as much as it is a committee approach. West had 84 rushing TD's in his 3 years at Towson. He doesn't have elite speed but he can hit the hole and follow his blockers well, which works great in the zone blocking scheme. I wouldn't be surprised if West becomes our version of Alfred Morris this season.
Ibleedbrown
I think RB is a position where a rookie can really bust it outta the box and have a really good first year. WR and QB, positions like those have a greater emphasis on knowing shit, but RB is instincts. You either got or you don't.
VaporTrail
Tate's injury prone, he doesn't need to be carrying the load.
D Bone
I'm thinking West looked just that good in OTAs. Here's to hoping West and Tate both get 1,000yds.
cambridgeho
Tate was only signed for 2 yrs. We had a plan before we got him knowing we would draft a future back. Having a RB by committee is not a bad thing. Hell you can pencil in Crowell also. We have a stable of hard nosed runners for once. The by committee will be follwed by who is the hot hand at the time. I for one will be picking up West late in FF, he just looks like a beast of a running back, and watching him run in the OTA video's he looks pretty quick with those one cut moves. Its gonna be fun to watch the RB position this year. No 33rb this year boys.
D Bone
^ Not to mention the competition between them for carries will only make all of them better. Should be fun.
LBC mike
Does anyone have a percentage breakdown from Shannahan using his RB's. No. 1 gets 60%, No. 2 gets 25% and No. 3 gets 15% ? how do you break this down? "by committee"? Who the fuck will we see run the ball? How many RB's can we keep on the roster? No clue, I think its going to just be a game by game type thing. As long as our D doesnt let teams go up by 20, then we run. With Gordon out though, it really takes away the effective deepball on the playaction.

In 2013 Morris got 276 of 453 carries. In 2012 Morris got 335 of 519. In 2011 Roy Helu got 151 of 400. Who? Rest of committee was Hightower, Torain and Royster. Clearly if Shanny has a horse he will ride him. If not, then it's committee time. Does not look like he's seen a situation where he has two horses to choose from... FYI... In both '12 and '13 RG3 was the 2nd most used rusher. So basically we will see whomever is effective... and that may vary based on game situation as well as week to week. And the maximum number of RB's we can keep is 53... but that would be a record.
TopDawg31
I believe the RB by committee comment is really meant to be a fire starter. I believe the RB position is going to sweep out the old and the true competition will be between the 3 new RB's on the roster.
