royal is a blend so they prob knock have the bad shit out. jack is sour mash, who knows what the F is in it (even though it's supposed to be high standard blah blah blah).

it's still distilled only once. that's why the best thing to drink and not get a serious hangover (when drinking a lot) is the triple distilled vodkas.

jack Fs people up because they take it too lightly doing shots or i have one friend who drinks pint sized jack and coke.

i mean i like a buzz like anybody but i never found it attractive to pass out on a barstool or run outside and unleash a belly of drink on a proprietors door step.

I'll take quality beer every time. I am a fan of the Great Lakes beers here in Cleveland. They make some tasty strong beers. Especially the Christmas Ale and the Conway's Irish Ale. Even their "stock" beer Dortmunder Gold is very good

Having moonlighted in state liquor agencies & tended some bar, I never could understand why folks would buy higher priced booze & dump "pop" in it. THERE's your hangover. Pay for good booze & leave the "candy" additives out of it.

I'm a beer guy who seldom drinks hard stuff, but when I do, it's triple distilled Old Bushmills Irish Whiskey on the rocks or with a splash of water. I'm Catholic & Jamesons is said to be the "Catholic whiskey", but I say the Protestants kicked our Catholic asses when it came to makin' whiskey!

good beer is great when drinking just a few. when you're out at the pub and trying a flashy craft ale it gets very pricey. plus it tends to fill me up. i mean i love a good pint of guiness but really how many can you drink?

if it's an outdoors day say picnic, beach, cookout etc. i'm drinking coronas or bud cans all day long from the cooler full of ice. they are a lot lighter which means a faster finish with less fill of the gut. throw in something cold for a shooter and i'm a happy man.

sun goes down then the dark comes out and i ain't just talking from my pants.

my GF is a maker mark 'ambassador'. get free invites to tastings and foodie festivals (where MM is a sponsor) throughout the tri-state area and she gets all kinds of free stuff for her BDay and xmas.

still haven't got a free bottle though. cheap ass so and sos.

I have a question for all you booze lovers. Let's pretend that this is back in the prohibition days and alcohol was illegal, would you still drink it and find a way to have your vice anyway or would you conform to the whims of society? Seriously.

Kinda depends on the chance and severity of the consequences doesn't it? For instance sometimes I exceed the speed limit or roll through a stop sign in my neighborhood. If I thought there was a 50 50 chance of getting jail time for that I would not do it.

PG- here's the deal- in Prohibition, if you had 1\2 ounce of intelligence and ambition, you could have easily made your own booze. It's not that hard. Damn near any fruit or grain is fermentable if you add enough sugar to it, and building a still to get high octane isn't exactly rocket science either, if that's your preference. "Sacramental" wines were legal, so plenty of people found religion to make the trip down to the local church to load up on your 5 gallons of "sacramental" wine. Padre Booze-oh thanked you for your generous contribution to the church coffers.

. But to answer your question- since you apparently happen to like the stuff.

How many people currently smoke pot though it's supposedly "illegal"? Know anyone that "grows their own"? And to take it one step further, how many people die of heroin overdoses every day, though it's not only illegal, but 99% + of the people that use, know not only it's illegal, but one mistake can kill you on top of that?

Funny Mike H. judging by your avatar I would have surmised that you were a wine connoiiiiiseeeeuuuuuuuurrrrr.

Hoorta is our go to guy when it comes to wine. Westside Steve when it comes to beer. Atenears when it comes to Margaritas.

On all other subjects where you need expertise, I am the guy. With a few exceptions.

For soccer talk to MLWoody or gft.

For all aspects of sexual deviancy, talk to Zombo.

Edit: Oh...however, when it comes to law and politics, if you want my expertise there must be remuneration.

Good beer is what I prefer. Plus I tend to go to the other side of Mik when it comes to beer. I have to drink a dozen Bud Lights or Coronas to get the same buzz from say three Great Lakes beers. The difference is a dozen cheap beers will leave you floating and bloated. Still...I do like me some Coronas from time to time.

i don't drink light beer (unless that's all there is left...). coronas and regular buds are just lighter in taste compared to the hoppy craft beers. sure you'd have to drink more bud or corona to equal the buzz of some micro brews because of their alcohol content. but you'd be done in a couple of hours because you'd be full (in more ways than one) while i'm still carrying on.

the light of day does not stop this dog from keep on going on. some of my worse posts on here have been in the middle to end of a three day binge.

nothing to be proud about, but i feel for the fool to challenge me.

We are trying to enjoy in two different ways, so I think in the end we actually are in agreement here. My goal is to try and sip at those hoppy craft beers, albeit that's damned hard to do sometimes when they are so tasty, and carry a nice buzz on through. But it depends on the day too. For constant drinking more often and frequently in a single outing, yeah one would never make it, so your way is best. I've done a six pack of Xmas Ale and not remember what the hell happened the night before. A dozen Coronas in twice the time frame, and you are still active and able to continue.

My wife likes to start with two or three of the good stuff, get the buzz on, then carry on through the night with something lighter/cheaper. You're already buzzing pretty good, so priority on flavor diminishes. Pretty sound plan IMO.
