On Tuesday, Ford said it would cancel a $1.6 billion plant planned for Mexico and instead invest $700 million in a Michigan assembly plant. Though CEO Mark Fields said the decision would have gone ahead whether or not Donald Trump was elected president, Fields also said Trump's "pro-growth policies" gave the company's executives confidence.

That's good news. I'm sure Trump will claim it as his victory alone, but probably a bit of both he and Obama by the sounds of it.

Hopefully they're well paying jobs, not just minimum wage nonsense.

Auto jobs in the states pay very good wages and are UAW (United Auto Workers) union.

Go Ford! I love my Fusion. My previous car was a Ford, too.

Fusions are nice, but they are currently made in Mexico ;)

They were moving fusion production back to Michigan, not sure if that happened yet or if that is what this announcement is about.

The key part of this statement: "Fields also said Trump's "pro-growth policies" gave the company's executives confidence."

I'd say there's a lot of truth to it. Lots of the rubber shops moved to right to work states.

oh I'm not saying it's not. A good friend of mine that does logistics for a transportation company tells me that shipping goods is a huge chunk of money that companies try to cut out. He gets beat up by companies and competitors non stop. On top of the cheap foreign labor it's a very close second.

I get the a plan on fords because my mother in law retired from there so I usually get fords. My most recent purchase was a sexy Dodge caravan though.

When I bought my Ford, I also test drove a Toyota Avalon and a couple other Japanese cars. The Fusion was the better car, IMO, and I will always buy American over foreign if the cars unless the foreign one has significant edge. I'm also proud of Ford for turning around their company like they did and having reliability that rivals Toyota and Honda.

No Doubt. I have been a Subaru convert since 1998.

Mitigation? Well they're built in Indiana.

I don't know that any us company makes an equivalent to the Outback, even though they've recently come a bit closer for reliability.

Have a 2012 an Infiniti G37X sedan which has a VIN starting with JN1C....which means made in Japan. Been a great car, fast as shit but doesn't look like some tricked out Honda Civic. Only thing ever happened was I got stuck at the CAM asia supermarket in North Randall at the end of December because my battery died. Replaced it.
