Though CEO Mark Fields said the decision would have gone ahead whether or not Donald Trump was elected president, Fields also said Trump's "pro-growth policies" gave the company's executives confidence. That's good news. I'm sure Trump will claim it as his victory alone, but probably a bit of both he and Obama by the sounds of it. Hopefully they're well paying jobs, not just minimum wage nonsense. Westside Steve
And why not? President Obama has been claiming he save the Auto industry for the last 8 years. Ironic that Ford didn't take the bailout. WSS

Fusions are nice, but they are currently made in Mexico They were moving fusion production back to Michigan, not sure if that happened yet or if that is what this announcement is about. A good friend of mine that does logistics for a transportation company tells me that shipping goods is a huge chunk of money that companies try to cut out. He gets beat up by companies and competitors non stop. On top of the cheap foreign labor it's a very close second.

The Fusion was the better car, IMO, and I will always buy American over foreign if the cars unless the foreign one has significant edge. I'm also proud of Ford for turning around their company like they did and having reliability that rivals Toyota and Honda.

Well they're built in Indiana. I don't know that any us company makes an equivalent to the Outback, even though they've recently come a bit closer for reliability. MLD Woody
I worked at Honda in central Ohio. Non union there. They had two assembly plants, engine and transmission in the area I believe. DieHardBrownsFan
Have a 2012 an Infiniti G37X sedan which has a VIN starting with JN1C....which means made in Japan. Been a great car, fast as shit but doesn't look like some tricked out Honda Civic. Only thing ever happened was I got stuck at the CAM asia supermarket in North Randall at the end of December because my battery died. Replaced it.
