hoorta
I dont live off anything Johnny does off the field. I look at them, chuckle and move on. I see a kid being a kid. Making a joke and nothing more. If you guys want to micromanage his every exploit, go ahead. I personally think its a sad state we live in. I am just happy that Coach Pettine doesnt share the same perspective as many here. BTW, if someone can judge another, they too can be judged. Yeah- and Justin Beiber is just a kid being a kid too. Manziel hasn't taken it quite that far, admittedly. Um, the NFL is the Big Boy League, not some A&M frat party. JF can do as he pleases- that doesn't mean some of us can't have an unfavorable opinion of his antics. It was one of the primary reasons I was against the Browns drafting him. He's part of the Browns now, so I really hope he can live up to his on field reputation. When Pettine gets concerned, I'll get concerned. However- experience has shown me being a major party animal will catch up with you eventually. That one is pretty over the top. You better get used to it, players on other teams trying to lay a major hit on him, because of his reputation. Couple of guys are already on record they'd like nothing better. hoorta
Do I care that he did the money phone? Nope, but as was pointed out elsewhere, Merriweather didn't pull that stunt before his first pro fight. You had better not get shit-faced the night before a game either and show up hung over, kiddo. That would get me pissed off.
Clevfan4life
This is getting kind of dooshy now. I was onboard with everything he was doing up till this point. He's not just partying, he's getting shit faced drunk and saying/doing some really stupid shit infront of camera's. Getting your picture taken with ass all around you, I'm all for it. If he's still stealing off to party towns in August, Browns have a problem.

So, the potential FACE of the Cleveland Franchise is going to be a 'shit faced drunk', and everyone seem to be 'cool da la' with this? Name me one god damn successful NFL QB that parties like this??!?!?
Zombo
Z, times change. There's a reason there hasn't been another Stabler in 30 years. Those guys started five of the last nine Super Bowls. How old was Roethlisberger when he finally "settled down"? 27? Johnny is 21. His body will figure it out after a few years. In the mean time, I'm OK with Johnny being Johnny. Zombo
http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/11097156/johnny-manziel-agrees-rookie-deal-cleveland-browns Johnny Manziel has agreed to terms on a contract with the Cleveland Browns, the team announced Tuesday. [+] EnlargeNick Cammett/Diamond Images/Getty ImagesJohnny Manziel will begin training camp second on the Browns' quarterback depth chart to incumbent starter Brian Hoyer. Manziel, the 22nd overall selection in the draft, will compete with Brian Hoyerto be the team's starting quarterback. Terms were not released, but the NFL rookie wage scale projected Manziel's deal to be worth about $8.25 million for four years. Like all first-round picks, his contract also includes a fifth-year team option. Manziel's NFL income may actually pale in comparison to his endorsement income, especially from Nike. Manziel signed a multiyear deal with Nike in March, and the company very soon after started selling Manziel apparel similar to what he wore at his NFL pro day workout in front of fans. Maverick Carter, the marketing manager for LeBron James' management team of LRMR, is representing Manziel for his marketing and endorsement deals. Manziel threw for 7,820 yards with 63 touchdowns and 22 interceptions in two seasons at Texas A&M. He also ran for 2,160 yards and had 30 touchdowns. In his first season in 2012, he became the first freshman to win the Heisman Trophy. But when Browns training camp opens in late July, he will have to win the starting job. Browns coach Mike Pettine already has said Hoyer will be the starter when training camp opens.

D Bone
I will admit, I was worried about him signing. I feared he would, well, be "Johnny Football", and hold out. Happy to concede I was wrong. ........ Now go prove it on the field, and not TMZ, because as of this moment, you've done exactly squat. Tim Couch Pulls Out
No, he'll fuck the entire city of Cleveland one day which includes your girlfriend, mother, grandmother, wife and goldfish. Except that I have never lived in Cleveland. Nor has my girlfriend, mother, grandmother, wife, or goldfish. So when Manziel throws a touchdown pass, or eludes a pass rush, or does anything cheer-worthy, I'm right to assume that you won't be cheering? miktoxic
there is always the exception to the rule when it comes to some people's ability to defy a normal person's reaction to a night of fun and too much drink or whatever else might be mixed in with it. i mean david wells threw a no hitter while still trippin and drunk (doubt if he would have lasted 10 minutes on a football field). unless there is a record of manziel being boxed when starting games on saturdays i think he'll be alright as long as he know sunday night is now his saturday night. LovesJohnnysWood
FWIW...Manziel has not made TMZesque actions during football season. Now, there may be less supervision now, so that might change...bbutsince he was named starter at A&M, he's been a fine upstanding Christian boy during both football seasons. Although he did go all Scooby-doo one Halloween....
LovesJohnnysWood
Peeps? You mean like those marshmallow treats? Or are you talking about baby chickens? Who ARE you talking about? The Browns fans that didnt want him, but dog him now instead of the Browns GM and coaching staff. Let's be consistent with our criticism... ... What the hell has Pettine accomplished as an NFL head coach? Jack-shit as of yet.
D Bone
Why would he hold out? Rookies can only sign for so much. His persona. All that he helped create. "Johnny Football". As of right now, I know nothing about this kid except the image that he has helped to create. Like I said, I feared he would be a pain-in-the-ass to get signed, but I'm glad I was wrong.............. Now we'll all see if this kid can play QB in the NFL, and all the Texas based, "JF Fans" in the world telling me he can doesn't mean a pocket full of lint until he P R O V E S it on the field.
