Trade for Houshmanzadeh, possible?

We aren't talking about guys like Alex Hall, Martin Rucker, Carlton Mitchell, et. al.

 

We are talking about guys like Massaquoi, Robiskie, and Stuckey.

 

And nothing ruins good team chemistry, which the Browns seem to have, more than a locker room Cancer, which Housh is from all accounts.

 

Im not talking about just housh, every vet that come's available get's shot down. These guys wouldn't be brought in to take reps away from our young guys that have shown they can get it done. You bring them in for depth, 3rd, 4th guys, injury insurance. Jarvis Green sounds like some good depth on the D-line to me, why not add him. We need depth at WR, I dont who else is available there but I know Cincy released Dez Briscoe today, Im hoping we bring him in on the practice squad. Justin Hartwig wouldn't be a bad backup at C/G. Good teams add these type guys, you cant do it all with young unproven players

You are nuts. They aren't going to cut Robiskie just to sign Housh. If that doesn't happen immediately, Housh won't be available. And they aren't going to cut Robiskie after the great offseason he's had.

Yeah, because great preseason is the tell tail sign of a great career. Keep your OSU bias out of your comments and your opinion might change.

Because the "proven vets" Hooshie, Barber, you name it- aren't going to want to waste the few remaining productive years they have going to a rebuild project- take the rose colored glasses off, and admit that's exactly what the Browns are. Yeah, let's bring in every washed up (or 1\2 washed up) vet and become the Nouveau Washington Redskins "Over the Hill Gang"- George Allen tried that once, and here's a big hint- it didn't work.

 

BTW, if Carroll cut Hooshie and is bringing in Williams that should tell you all you need to know- the guy is shotso.

George Allen did win a superbowl with the "over the hill gang" so shut up. And I would like to say, if we get housh, a nice veteran receiver, it'll be a nice complement to our young but talented receivers.

The Seattle Seahawks have cut wide receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh, a team source told ESPN's Chris Mortensen.

 

The Seahawks signed Houshmanzadeh to a five-year, $40 million contract last offseason, and Seattle will wind up having paid him $15 million for his one season with the Seahawks.

 

The 32-year-old Houshmanzadeh caught 79 passes last season and will be a bargain for another team this season.

 

Likely replacing Houshmandzadeh in the starting lineup will be former Detroit first-round draft pick Mike Williams.

 

The USC standout has impressed his former college coach Pete Carroll and will likely start opposite Deion Branch, with Deon Butler and Golden Tate as reserves.

 

Wow. This really is a bad day for Shep. Mike Williams was the one "bust" he always reminded me about. Now he is getting promoted to the first team on the same day his sweetheart Leinart is getting cut. Let's hope the Broncos don't put a merciful end to Brady Quinn's career, Shep may be on suicide watch....

That may be the case buts it no reason not to want some of them. They may or may not wanna come her, but you gotta try. And I'm not looking for guys to replace players like Robiskie, MoMass, Rubin. Im talking a vet willing to back some of these guys up, that can come in and be serviceable if thrust into a role.

or it could be so they can give Vincent Jackson the big payday he's looking for. I dont think he's done, he just doesn't have anything around him.

Shut the F up dude. Seriously. It isn't OSU bias to want to give a 2nd year WR a chance to prove he can play. Especially by all accounts he's finally "getting it" this year. How else are we to analyze him in his sophomore year other than by this year's offseason? If the player is no good, I don't care if he's from OSU. But you don't just throw away a player who has tons of potential, looks good, because some aging vet becomes available. That's idiotic.

Thaak what are you talking about? I have seen little production out of Robo and I was a huge fan of picking him. If he can't produce this year, it's time to cut him loose. Some other people made some very valid points - and since when has Housh been known to be a locker room cancer? Are you making that up? Link?

 

Sure, AFTER next preseason maybe.

 

Why do I have to provide a link? If you haven't been paying attention to NFL news in the last 2 years, then that isn't my fault.

I have a feeling Housh will be signing with the Redskins, they need another WR. Remember he wasnt cut becuase of lack of talent he was cut because of saving money in the end. The skins always have some kind of money left.

Go check out PFT archives. Florio's been talking about it and providing his own source links from Bengals and Seahawks beat writers. I'm not going to spend the time to go back and find the links. I have better things to do than to satisfy your need for proof when someone presents you with information you don't want to believe.

I can't believe anyone would be mad at getting tj. First who ever said he wouldn't want to come to the browns iis an idiot. The guy can will only sign a 1 year deal for league minium making it a contract year for him. He will want a chance to play and put up numbers.

If he is too old no risk cause of the money vested. You can't tell me he isn't better than someome on our team.

TJ Houshmandzadeh: Passion or Cancer? Problems Beginning in Sea-Town?

Seahawks PhotosThe Seahawks biggest off season acquisition, wide receiver TJ Houshmandzadeh who signed a five year $40 million dollar contract this past off season has been known for, in the past few weeks, speaking out against the Seahawks coaching staff and players calling for the ball.

 

In a sense it's like Terrell Owens yelling at Tony Romo or Donovan McNabb saying "I'm not getting the ball and that's why we lose."

 

Since being signed back in early March TJ has been a complete team player never yapping to the media or being a potential cancer to the Seahawks locker room.

 

However since the Seahawks-Bears game in week three when he went on the radio saying "the Bears overlooked me in free agency so I'll have to show them up this week" and "the Bears have a weak pass coverage so I'll show them it was a mistake not showing interest in me in the off season".

 

How did he do against the Bears?

 

Four receptions, 35 yards, zero touchdowns receptions and the worst statistical game in his short Seahawks career.

 

So of course next week he becomes "stand office" and doesn't call out anyone and what happens?

 

He records his first 100 yard game as a Seattle Seahawk. Eight receptions for 103 yards and zero touchdowns.

 

Here is one of his comments via ESPN.com before the Jacksonville Jaguars game.

 

"I just got to get these coaches to realize, throw me the ball," Houshmandzadeh said Friday, another variation on a public request he's had for weeks."

 

Calling out the coaching staff and your quarterback (not Matt Hasselbeck) is never the right thing to do when your head coach said you were a great team player and would fit right into the great locker room.

 

Well that hasn't exactly played out as well as the Seahawks front office and coaching staff thought it would.

 

It seems like ever since his vocal lashing at Madden 2010 for his player ratings being so low and having a few "lies and false stats". TJ Who's-yo-mama has not been the same.

 

Here is one of many comments from TJ on the Madden ratings.

 

So, the question at hand: Is TJ Houshmandzadeh's comments and recent actions passion for the game and wanting to make the team better by having him perform or is it the beginning of a cancer problem in the locker room.

 

However TJ has so far preformed well in his first five games as a Seattle Seahawk.

 

27 receptions, 327 yards, two touchdowns and four 20+ yard receptions. According to ESPN.com projections TJ is in line for 86 receptions, 1,040 yards and six touchdown receptions.

 

However, he just got his prime time quarterback Matt Hasselbeck back after missing three straight games. When Matt is playing the Seahawks have won 69-0 this season.

 

It will be interesting to see his next set of comments or if the current ones will pay off.

I never said we should get rid of him and never said he was a garbage player. I'm just hesitant to put a lot of stock in a guy who ha a really good camp. He may turn into a great player, I just don't want to crown him as our starting receiver yet. I hope he is what Manguni drafted him to be, but it wouldn't hurt to bring in a receiver like Housh.

Housh is a good addition for them but he joins the oft-injured Boldin, the currently injured Stallworth and Derrick Mason.

 

Unless they go to a base formation featuring more than two WR (at the expense of a FB McClain or TE Heap) then only two of these receivers will be on the field at any given time anyway. I've never been much of a Houshmanzadeh fan myself so bring it on.

Seattle was changing its offense. TJ wasnt goiing to bet his touches. That is why he left (so I read). Bmore got him for a vet league minimum which was a steal. he still has some

 

juice left in the tank. Yet another goood value lost out on by Heck. Way to let another of our divisional rivals stockpile some firepower. Who cares what Walrus' minions said about HZ.

why do you blame heckert for tj signing with bmore? you ever think that maybe people like tj don't want to play for a rebuilding team like the browns? how do you know heckert didn't try to get tj? at this point in tj's career, he wants to win a super bowl now and will sign with someone that gives him the chance to do so. he's not getting any younger.

 

i just don't get why some browns fans think it's so easy to sign quality free agents. this isn't fantasy land, this is the real world. tj doesn't give a crap about cleveland, the browns winning and he doesn't share our passion for this team. he's not looking at signing with a team from a browns fans perspective, he's looking at it from an aging wr's perspective. it's that simple. no need for heckert or holmgren bashing.

yes i think they are the favorites to win our division.......but this signing is not the reason why. him and chad JOHNSON got a lot in common. divas.

I get it. He may act like a schlep on the field but off he seems to be a standup guy. No convictions in the tri-state while he played almost 10 fer cincy
