I read that he was hitting 93 on the gun. That's sweet and all, but not the kind of number that put him on the top prospect radar 24 years ago (or however long its been since he first became a prospect) - someone from the organization said that Miller would turn it up a notch under the glare of facing live batters in a game that counts. Hope it's true!

MILLER TIME: RHP Adam Miller gets the ball today for the first time in 2008. Miller spent the first three weeks of the season in extended spring training to build up his pitch count. Miller went 4-5 with a 4.82 ERA in 19 games with the Bisons last year and had to battle through a pair of injuries that hampered his season. A bruised ligament on his right middle finger put him on the DL May 30-June 25 while inflammation in his right elbow landed him on the DL, July 29-August 19. Still, Miller finished the 2007 season 4th on the Bisons with 68 strikeouts and was named Cleveland's #1 prospect by Baseball America.

Nothing wrong with 93....especially if that is where they need him to pitch..sometimes you can throw through your movement.

93 that moves is better then 97 that doesn't.

Due to arm slot, some guys never get a rising fastball that is generally associated with throwing 97.

If everybody had like minds, we would never learn.

Absolutely. It's all relative when you're talking about the rare guy who can hit high 90's. I think the question - not a concern, just a question - had to due with his 4-seam fastball dropping a few MPH. Some reports had it maxing out at 89.

It all comes down to that middle finger - both the ligament strain and the blisters. Just so long as the elbow is sound, I think he'll be sound.

Yep....a 89 4 seamer isn't much good even against good HS players...too flat.
