I can't believe

I can't believe my wife got mad at because I was at an O'Hare pub last Saturday and purposely missed my flight because the Tribe and the Yanks were tied at 3. Sheesh, it's not like Continental and Southwest doesn't fly every 10 minutes everywhere.

I can't believe Travis Hafner has lost it so badly. Can someone reassure me he hasn't.

I can't believe I gave away my tickets to last night game (Ok it was for a good cause, I hooked up my son's 4th grade teacher and her friends as a thank you)

I can't believe Paul Byrd is doing it with the stuff he has. He must have a special fondness for pitching against Seattle especially after the opener last year.

I can't believe it is going to rain all weekend here

I also can't believe he (Byrd) didn't get a decision last night after going 7.2 0 runs only 4 hits and no walks. But then again Batista who only gave up 1 run for the M's is probably saying the same thing

I can't believe this team has lost it power stroke.

I can't believe we left 18 on base last night.

I can't believe with the way we are hitting we are 7-3 in the last 10 games

I also can't believe we are a game and a half out.
Thank God the Tigers don't have much left to trade for pitching.

Great stuff.

I'd love to reassure you that Pronk'll be just fine, but no can do. I know it's common and simplistic and even cruel to say he may have been aided by performance enhancers, but that's in the back of my mind and it won't go away until those long (kinda waaay back) fly balls leave the yard.

Non Tribe related, I can't believe that this happened last night:

The Athletics, who beat the Halos 14-2 in Monday's series opener, had 20 hits - perfect timing for A's fans holding tickets for Sunday's game against Texas. The deal was that each ticket-holder in the Plaza Level got a dollar off the price of the ticket for every hit Oakland got in this game.

Too cool.

And this story, beaten to death over at BTF, is also unbelievable to me:

And if you ask Christopher Ratte and his wife how they lost custody of their 7-year-old son, the short version is that nobody in the Ratte family watches much television.

The way police and child protection workers figure it, Ratte should have known that what a Comerica Park vendor handed over when Ratte ordered a lemonade for his boy three Saturdays ago contained alcohol, and Ratte's ignorance justified placing young Leo in foster care until his dad got up to speed on the commercial beverage industry.

Even if, in hindsight, that decision seems a bit, um, idiotic.

Ratte is a tenured professor of classical archaeology at the University of Michigan, which means that, on a given day, he's more likely to be excavating ancient burial sites in Turkey than watching "Dancing with the Stars" -- or even the History Channel, for that matter.

The 47-year-old academic says he wasn't even aware alcoholic lemonade existed when he and Leo stopped at a concession stand on the way to their seats in Section 114.

"I'd never drunk it, never purchased it, never heard of it," Ratte of Ann Arbor told me sheepishly last week. "And it's certainly not what I expected when I ordered a lemonade for my 7-year-old."

But it wasn't until the top of the ninth inning that a Comerica Park security guard noticed the bottle in young Leo's hand.

"You know this is an alcoholic beverage?" the guard asked the professor.

"You've got to be kidding," Ratte replied. He asked for the bottle, but the security guard snatched it before Ratte could examine the label.

And while not unbelievable, this story is kinda sad (not sure if there's been a happy ending or not):

Two elderly women from Evansville are missing and police are trying to figure out what happened to them.

The women, Nadine Coleman and Wilma Schnoonover, are both in their eighties. Nadine Coleman lives on Henning Avenue in Evansville, and Wilma Schoonover lives on John Court.

Family and friends have been worried because both women have a routine on Thursdays. They go to the grocery, run errands together, visit friends at Bethel Manor nursing home and then head home.

But family members say the two women didn't make it home Thursday. Friends have been retracing the women's steps but have turned up nothing.

Coleman and Schoonover were driving a 2005, yellow or white colored Chrysler 300.

The investigation has shifted from Evansville to Mayfield, Kentucky. Kentucky State Police are working on developments near Paducah and plan to release more information on Friday.

Wilma Schoonover is the grandmother of Jamey Carroll. Carroll's a University of Evansville graduate and now plays major league baseball for the Cleveland Indians.

Sadly no happy ending here

It appears the ladies got lost and ended up driving the wrong way
on an interstate highway where they hit a truck headon and dies at the scene

Condolences to Jamey Carroll

Yes dads was ignorant

However what a cluster**** that turned out to be for everyone else involved.

To me it seems like a severe lack of common sense prevails in Michigan

And Yes I am all for protecting childrens rights.

However after a Doctor says the boy is fine, a blood test show zero signs of alcohol and yet they still take him away from the family

Refuse to give custody to the aunts who drove all night from New England.

And then it takes a assistant state's attorney general to slow the whole thing down and get this young boy to his family a whole day later

It was handled very badly by what appears to be an out of control judicial/child services system in Michigan

Sometimes it is good to get a rainout.

Hopefully Pronk was taking advantage of the mental rest night at home or even out instead of hitting in the cages until his hands bled.

Yes it is far too soon to hang a "Pronkville for Rent" banner at the Ja er whatever field or park or alley they are calling it now,

but there may have been an inquiry or 2 to a realtor
