I really enjoyed the novel, and the BBC miniseries was both loyal to the novel and thoroughly entertaining.

So it's a bit disturbing to see this trailer for the latest cinematic adaptation.

I agree with Ross Douthat; this doesn't look at all like the novel I read. It's like they suffocated Evelyn Waugh's best trait, his comedy, and replaced it with Hollywood power-games kitsch.

On another note, does anyone watch this trailer and think, "Ooh, I gotta see that"?

Try the Diskworld movies if you want faithful adaptations of the books.
Sky has been doing one a year, and so far The Hogfather and The Coulour of Magic were both incredible.

Saw that trailer Steve, doesn't look interesting and have this feeling it's just another story that has been told before.
