Snatch,

Just so you understand what I think you're saying:

If we have faster guys at skill positions, we do not need to block as long because the D will have to account for the speed.

Sound familiar? And so far you team is banking on 2 rookies to blow peoples mind in this regard. Pony offense? Only a team with a deficiency on the OL makes up this kind of bullshit.

See, Cleveland has a solid OL, so we'll just concentrate on coming right the fook at you - something a Steeler fan can appreciate.

See ya week two, Mr Gullible.

I'm not sure how many time I'm going to have to answer the same question. I'll address the offensive line first. Yes we lost Faneca to a big money contract with the Jets and his absence won't go unnoticed. However we have a big in house replacement with Kris Kemoeatu with a high motor and a few years in the system. We picked up hartwig and the other young guys we have on the line are one year more mature. Marvel Smith will finally be healthy and he is a pro-bowl left tackle. I also expect Big Ben to be a little more savvy with the ball at least in regards to throwing it away more often. I can pull up link after link after link stating that Big Ben was directly responsible for a good number of the sacks taken last year not the offensive line.

It's then not a matter of rocket science but rather one of common sense. You had a 6'4 WR in the 2nd round that gets good body separation and is physical in the red zone. Santonio Holmes is yet another season deep with the team and will improve on his over 900 yards receiving. The addition of Sweed and the further development of guys like Dallas Baker could potentially move Ward to the slot and as most know Ward is one of the best WR's in the NFL in creating space and making the grab. You then add a healthy Willie Parker and Mendenhall to the backfield and a little FYI, Mendenhall isn't just another "Willie Parker" he's a complete back that runs hard between the tackles and has the speed and vision to do damage. All you have to do is watch tape on the kid and you can see how special he is and can become....

As far as Desertdawgs comment on the Pony set it's not a "new" formation but rather one created in the Noll era when Franco and Rocky were the Steelers tailbacks.

I'm also not getting riled up. Do you see my swearing and spewing insults? I enjoy arguing which is why I'm here and when I'm working 10 hour days a few times a week with a computer in close proxy I'm going to post on a few boards, this happens to be one of them. I don't plan to be a permanent fixture. The message board is slow and there really isn't a lot being discussed, but if I can get in a argument here and there, great...like I said I can't wait for week 2.

No jacka** i sarcastically said your unoriginal line was super awesome. I thought super awesome would be fitting for you considering you are the jobless one who can afford to use weekday mornings watching nick jr to rip spongebob references. Do something with your life.

Soldier, nice thoughts, really they are. However this isn't Cowher or Noll running the show, its Mike Tomlin.

There you go again Inch High Private Eye - making an absolute a.ss out of yourself.

Chuck Noll and Bill Cowher's were nobody's in 1969 and 1992 respectively - NOBODY's. Mike Tomlin is more than a nobody now - he led his team to a 10-6 record, won the division, and made the playoffs. He is a good coach and will get better with age like Cowher and Noll - he will have that luxury even if the Steelers go 4-12 this year and next year because the Steelers are the most unique team in professional sports - they dont make decisions based on their record, they dont make decisions based on what their fans think or what the media thinks - they stick to the business model and keep stepping. They are the Pittsburgh Steelers baby.

Regarding the OL - please my Brownie friends - chill out over our line. You are under estimating our OL and hyping up your DL too much buddies.

Corey Williams is the only guy I worry about on your OL - Rogers is fat and done. And who is the other guy? Exactly.

We had Sean Mahan as our starting Center last year - clearly a back up fill in C/G and we won 10 games and our backs rushed for close to 2000 yards.

Justin Hartwig aint Mike Webster but he is certainly heads and shoulders better than Mahan.

We have three quality starting Tackles in Marvel Smith (healthy now), Max Starks, and Colon who is in his third year now. Smith and Starks started on our SB winning team.

Kemo at Guard is pretty much a third year rookie - he is a concern because we dont know what he can do - but he has all the skill to do it - he just needs to do it. I dont like Simmons but he is an average veteran.

Its not as bad as you guys say it is.

Thanks for writing about the Steelers - you guys write more about our team than you do about your own team. I feel sorry for you - just like I did when you lost your team - I feel sorry for yins. Truly-

Not exactly a ringing endorsement of the Steeler OL by the starting RB. Maybe we're all wrong and Snatch is right.

quote:
Surprise, no tackle

As with many others, Willie Parker was surprised the Steelers did not draft an offensive tackle in the first round.

"Everybody said what I need is an offensive lineman," said Parker, who has led the Steelers with more than 1,200 yards rushing in each of the past three seasons. "That wasn't my call to pick an offensive lineman. It would have been good to get one, but we didn't, so we have to ride what we have until the wheels fall off."

LOL.....
