He admits to fighting the guy... and now police say the bullets did indeed come from his gun. Tough to pin that on someone else:

Not sure how you missed this thread since you started it. And if it got off track you've only yourself to blame since you soapboxed it into something it didn't have to be.

There is a deep irony in criticizing shep for what you deem to be an "un-necessary post" with a even more un-necessary post.
Like, Mariana Trench deep.

The funnier part of this, go to the above link Shep provided and look at the column on the right, MORE NFL NEWS.

I think I must've taken too much allergy medicine... but HUH?

This is a new article. From today. Right? Wait... I'll go check it to see if we can save the last shred of DD's rep.

Sorry, Dawg. I was right agan. I called this thread an update because it's a new article... not only today, but this evening: May 5 at almost 9 p.m. Eastern.

I forgive you. Because you have nobody to blame but yourself.

There is no better way to end the day than giving Desert Douche another facial. To quote the great Liz Lemon: "Suck it, monkey!"

Tell me how this report is different than the last one

The gun was Belgian
Has seven shots fired
Belonged to Harrison
Argument between Harrison and Victim
Gun found at his car wash

Not a damn thing new about this article. No gun in Harrison's hand. No witness that saw Harrison fire. Nothing new in the article at all.

Nothing. Zilch. Nada.

I will take the high road and not get into name calling since you're obviously stuck in the 4th grade.

It's confirmation from the actual Philadelphia police department to Palantonio that the shells did indeed come from Harrison's gun. Prior, it was based on "sources." That's why it's the #1 news story on ESPN.com.

Also, Harrison has now ADMITTED to the fight. That's new, too. Prior, it was based on witnesses who called the radio station.

It's a fairly significant update on a huge news story. No debate over that.

So the only possible high road for you is an apology. You attempted a "gotcha," ended up with shit on your cheeks, and now your only noble recourse is an apology.

Again... terrific way to end the day. The more you wriggle, the better it gets.

We know nothing more than we knew yesterday - it is all the same information. You started this thread because you like attention. Obviously you're too nasty to get attention from your wife so you come here for it.

This did not need a new thread. What, every time a report comes out about Harrison you're going to start a new thread?

There is a word for people like that: Attention Whore.

Dude, I'm chuckling because you know that doesn't make any sense. It has the sad stench of desperation... even you knew it wouldn't fly around here.

Yeah. That's how I get attention. By posting an update about Harrison on my Browns Board. I see your point and it's valid.

Or... and hold on, because this is really radical... I posted it as an update in a separate thread because the other one had hundreds of posts and was getting stale?

Nah. I really need attention in my life, and after a lot of thought, I decided this was gonna really turn things around for me.

Dude, you're just digging in deeper and deeper. As Plat said, you're coming off like a petulant child.

Just try, "Thanks for the update, Shep. Sorry for being a douchebag with an axe to grind. Again."

Bingo.

I hadn't looked at that one since the "definition of exotic handgun" became debatable. I'm glad I had a drink in me reading that...

...so, thanks shep, for the update.

Any time, Leg. Your thanks is, uhm... thanked.

I actually got legally stoned from the "you-think-Belgian-is-EXOTIC?" conversation. I'm just now pulling myself back together.

I think the attention I got from this thread has really helped my self-esteem, though.

So there REALLY was some form of physical threat after all? Like I said before ESPN said it and without reading a thing, I'll bet this thug threatened he was going to kill Harrison after he got his ass kicked using fists. It's not the SAME world we grew up in. Marvin prolly just felt like he needed to defend himself unless you prefer to think he's the next Ted Bundy psycho type.

I was gonna ask what it took to be 'exotic' as opposed to run-of-the-mill (if not made in another country and requiring specially made rounds). Perhaps his only qualifier might be one of the weapons from 'Men In Black'? Eh, whatever, so instead I had another glass of vodka instead.

Tom, I appreciate that you like Harrison, but I think you're reading me and the article wrong. The altercation with the victim -- which may or may not have qualified as a fist fight -- has been part of the story all along. I don't think anybody is casting Harrison as drooling mad or Ted Bundy.

Capable of a pretty stunning act of violence, yes. That's why it's a huge story. Not because Harrison is now a serial killer, but because he bought and owned a VERY lethal and expensive deadly weapon... and apparently fired it six times at another human being.

I, too, suspect there's a lot more to the story, but none of it gets Harrison out of deep shit. If the guy comes into your bar with a handgun, and you shoot him? Self defense.

If he comes into your bar and LEAVES... and you follow him and shoot at him six times? Not self defense. Now it's attempted murder or at least assault with a deadly weapon.

Would a lot of people do what Harrison (apparently) did? Buy, keep, and carry an absurdly powerful gun and then actually fire it at someone six times? Someone who was not at that time trying to stab or shoot them? God, I hope not.

It's a big enough story without a new serial killer twist. It's a sudden and very shocking outburst of violence from a guy who has always seemed to be quiet and humble on and off the field. It's amazing.

I'm absolutely certain when and if Harrison admits to firing the shots that he'll have a story. He'll have to. He isn't going to say he just got really mad and decided to open fire. He'll say the guy had a gun. He'll say he only fired after the guy attacked. Something. That's what defense lawyers are for. That's what trials are made of.

Any way you cut it, it's an amazing story.

from deadspin:
quote:
Has Marvin Harrison's Shady Past (And Present) Finally Caught Up To Him?

The muddled circumstances surrounding Colts wide receiver Marvin Harrison's invovement in a shooting last week are slowly coming together. The facts: it was Harrison's gun that was used; six casings from his gun were found; Harrison was interviewed and had a fistfight with a man; some people got shot.

The witnesses and victims of the alleged crime are still being pieced together. According to some police sources, there are a lot of conflicting stories surfacing, some as a result of individuals hoping to shake down and cash-in on Harrison's celebrity. But that's expected as soon as a millionaire athlete caught with a gun in a not-so-nice neighborhood happens.

According to one source close to the story, more revelations about Harrison's character and background — disturbing, American Gangster-like stuff — are also percolating as a result of this incident. Although Harrison has been deemed one of the consumate professionals in the NFL due to his quiet nature and workman-like approach to his game, it's appearing more and more that Harrison mayhave a very dark side to his private nature that few people knew about.

Yesterday, WIP's Howard Eskin alluded to those facts on the air yesterday before he was yelling about blogs:
quote:
I have heard many things about Marvin and I am shocked. I don't want to get into it but it shocks me. I've heard too many things, I heard things which shocked me.

"I do know this. [Somebody he[Harrison] knows had $10,000 confiscated. He went back to the police station and said, that's my money. . . . Two detectives have told me that. I don't want to get into it any deeper. Doesn't that present a lot of questions to you, too?

Now, as much as Eskin is a blustery asshole on air at times, he's also not reckless and does his due dilligence when it comes to stories of this nature. Also, what Eskin said is consistent with some of the stories being corroborated by a few people close to the investigation.

The take-away: Next week prepare to hear some more things about Marvin Harrison that might erase most of the good-guy persona he's cultivated in the NFL. According to one prominent national television reporter, if Harrison gets charged in this case, all of the dirty laundry that many people have been sifting through will be revealed.

I would be shocked if this ISN'T shocking. As Tom kinda said, who thought Marvin Harrison would own a super special Belgian gun capable of piercing armor?

Loaded? On his person?

A gun that was fired six times at a guy... and then returned to Harrison's possession?

Yet he ISN'T the shooter? It can only get weirder.

I just don't buy the noble gentleman thing if any of this is true. The two don't mesh for me. Quiet? Sure.
