Couple notes heading into next week's mandatory camp, from two sources who would know:

- Anderson and Quinn were both very good throughout OTAs... but last week, Quinn was extremely sharp, on another level. Although Anderson keeps the job unless he seriously falters, Quinn is practicing so well that you can't help but wonder.

Which we will as long as both guys are on the roster.

- The Browns may be more excited to see how Beau Bell plays than anybody else. He was impressive throughout OTAs, quick to the ball and quick to absorb the scheme... and that didn't even allow for his best asset, which is playing forward and thumping.

The Browns continue to think they pulled off a pretty big coup with Beau Bell... and it's entirely possible he'll end up starting or at least playing quite a bit.

Wonder if Bell is chiseling his body out. Heard a lot of people say he was big but not cut. That's what happens when you play for UNLV instead of OSU or USC, I guess.

HE needs to hit the weights heavy, especailly lower body and core strength. Not worried about him being chiselled as much as cock strong. If this guy can hit like they say, imagine what he can do if he gets stronger and fills out his lower body? Apparently, his calves and legs are a bit smallish, so hitting the leg presses and squats with proper diet and this kid could really explode. He's at that age where guys really take on man size and strength, so it's intriguing what he can be.

Mike Singletary wasn't shredded wheat either but stepping in front of him was like getting hit by a freight train at full speed. And I think that's the kind of sudden impact the strengthens up a REALLY soft middle at this time. Sticking a stud on the Nose up front adds a synergistic burst of terror I welcome.

Yeah, those all-you-can-eat buffets at Caesar's must have contributed, in no small part, to those love handles.

Quinn pole-slobberers and Anderson pole-slobberers are both cut from the same cloth. They simply chose a different libidinal object.

For any of you who have not yet been to Vegas... The cesars buffet is the BOMB!! Worth every penny.. (around 30 bucks) but you have NEVER had anything like it. The one at Paris is out of this world too. May be not only the best buffet I ever had... but the best meal I ever had too.

Indeed...they know how to spread out a table.

I almost always stay at Paris and the buffet is always on the ticket at least once for dinner......I like the breakfast spread as well.

They also have a top flight restaurant up in the tower.

I like Paris because it connects underground with Bally's ..I don't wander the strip much anymore. This way it is almost like staying in a place with 2 distinct casinos.

I recall seeing Rice and Montana on television and they said Walsh never trusted guys who were chiseled instead relying on raw strength and athleticism.

Not sure if this was because he believed muscle bound guys lacked flexibility and athleticism but he stuck to this credo and it seemed to serve him pretty well.

Thought this was pretty interesting.

Some people cant get chiseled...they just bulk up. A lot of it has to do with genetics.

I was going to say the same thing...some guys have a barrel chest and are going to have some flab no matter what they do.

It isn't about how they look in a jock, it is how they look on the field......at lest for me.Wink

I see why Walsh went with the smaller guys.
Big bulk guys often pass up agility and flexibility training.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't I remember something about Walter Peyton and Berry Sanders taking ballet? Those were two of the most amazing backs I've ever seen and their ability to stop on a dime and completely shift momentum was near superhuman.

Well, as Terrel Owens said, "Fat is the enemy of speed," and that's mostly true. There are freaks of nature, but most guys get better with more lean muscle mass and less fat.

I know linemen like to carry some girth, too, though. But I can't see it as an advantage to a linebacker.

Genetics is genetics. Some guys look more impressive but really have no more lean muscle than a guy who is not as "ripped."

It's all relative, but steroids and supplements give guys lean mass, so it's safe to say that this is the formula you want, but without the roids.

Bell has room to grow, especially in the lower body. He's already explosive, so more lean mass in the lower body = more explosiveness.

Looking good didn't hurt White... getting too big for a speed back did.

Excellent to hear. Can't wait to see him take a pre-season snap.

Of course with the Tribe looking so anemic and Westbrook to go under the knife, it feels like the days of old. Start the football!

Dear god please no more Quinn looks good, possibly better than DA in practice.
All it does is provoke the Oregon Trail to remind us how he made the Pro Bowl (but was the worse PB qb in history) or went 10-6 with the SAME team he had the previous season (even though all but 3 of 11 positions had a new starter).

QB's coach Scherer this past weekend:

"Brady is an outstanding quarterback, but Derek Anderson is also an outstanding quarterback. Because of the way quarterbacks get hurt in this league, it's incumbent for us to have both guys coming along, ready to go."

During a question-and-answer session with the audience that followed, Scherer was asked how the Browns expect to keep Quinn, a first-round draft choice in 2007, happy since he's not playing.

"We plan to keep Brady happy because he's a quality guy and a team guy," the coach said. "Now, if Brady weren't a quality guy and a team guy, then, yes, it would be a problem.

"He knows his day will come."
