Im not a life long Browns fan.

When I was 6 years old my cousin told me I had to pick a favorite football team. I had never watched a game or was even interested in football. He said I like the Vikings they have one of the best WRs in Cris Carter. Who do you want as your favorite?I said who is another good WR and who does he play for. Needless to say I ended up being a 49ers "fan".

I just started keeping track of pro football 2 years ago. I fell in love with football the game when i was 12 or 13 (5'11 220 lbs pop warner was fun for me) but never cared about anything other then what I was doing until then.

I read up on San Francisco and how Alex Smith gets his eyebrows done and all this stuff. Then I watched my first 49ers game 2 years ago and found myself rooting against them. I lived my life saying I was a fan of this team but in reality I was an imposter but I was forced into choosing.

I decided to find a team but how do you decide after being a fan of the game and not of a team for 15 years? Do you pick on potential? Whos closer to your city? Who has the highest "quality" guys on their team? Whos unis are better? Who do you like to play with on Madden?

Did I make the right decision and find a team I like or should I have stuck with the choice I made when I was 6?

I don't think there's any real way to pick a team. For me, I was born in Cleveland but my parents (mom from Ohio and dad from NYC) moved to New jersey when I was two. My dad is a Giants fan, but I always wanted to rebel against the teams he liked, so when I was in 6th grade (1986) I settled on the Browns, mainly for the simple fact that I was born there and had some some sort of connection to it. Needless to say, after the way the '86 season ended up, I was excited for the next one to start and have been ever since.

I think you chose well. Knowledgeable fans (mostly) and an up-and-comer.

So you were a 49'rs fan when you were 10? Inexcusable. I motion to ban this infidel.

All joking aside, it doesn't matter how long you've been a fan only if you're a fan for the right reasons. One being the traditions and culture of a team. Know anything about the Kardiac Kids or Bernie? Know how much we hate John Elway? Why did you become a Browns fan? As long as you're not jumping on the glamour wagon ready to bail when there's a bump in the road I don't see why it matters.

I dont like the tradition of any team. I like how this organiztion is run and I felt like CLE would be the under dogs last year but win a few games. I didnt think they were going to be a 10 win team.

I wanted to pick a team on the rise but not one where I would be considered a bandwagoner.

I really really want an English bulldog.

This is the best part. I wanted a team I wouldnt have to drive that far to see. OH is right by KY, Cincy and TEN I knew were closer but they have some real duche bag on their team. So CLE was the only close one right... WRONG CLE is 9 hours away from Louisville. I thought CLE was in the southern part of Ohio but I made my decision and Im happy to be here.

Also my ex girlfriend(aka the devil) is a Cincy fan and she loves when CLE and CIN play. So now I can get a little revenge on her for cheating taking my house twice a year.

I'm actually right outside of Vegas right now. On business at the moment, but I'll be there in a week or two.

Thanks for your concern, though.

Stick around, while this forum lacks wit - it's loaded with this kind of sophomoric stuff that should make your head spin.

Spoken from the king of sophomoric humor. You have shown me all I need to see already.

Have fun in Vegas, though. Remember. They don't love you...they only want your money.

Now, back on topic. I have been a Browns fan since '80. My teacher had a crush on Brian Sipe and I had a crush on her. It was love at first sight and I been a die-hard fan ever since.

Me and my dad have always been Browns fans.

My mom and sister like the Stoolers. They even tried to convert me. Honestly, I don't know how I ever forgave them.
