Classic brainwashing material.

Quinn pole-slobberers and Anderson pole-slobberers are both cut from the same cloth. They simply chose a different libidinal object.

Wow, I didn't expect you to understand, but seriously - degenerating into insults? I had hoped for a more intelligent response than that.

I wasn't aiming to insult, that's just the way I feel. And please don't confuse "rejection" with "ignorance."

Do they have a recording? Yeah, it's called the Bible.

First off...that kid is obviously a nut case and I don't want any of the following of what I say to be misconstrued as a defense of him...so here goes...

As if you do have a true concept of who God and Christ are? And that's assuming they are actually real. The only "concepts" you may think you have are merely recitations of dogma that has been politically manipulated over a couple thousand years which was "originally" based on a bunch of stories only finally "recorded" several decades after Jesus Christ was actually living. How well do you remember details and quotes of what people said 40, 50, 60+ years ago? Throw into that mix the multitude of translations those stories have went through, and your concepts of God and Christ don't seem so solid. Again, that is assuming God and Christ are actually real.

Their are a lot of assumptions there that don't match with the reality of biblical tranmission/translation.

I don't want to hijack this thread with it, but if you want to have a discussion about it... let me know and we can start another thread in a more appropriate part of this forum.

Agreed. Religion is based on more then heresay. But I wont go into any of that. Sounds like a bunch of angry heathens in here anyway. If you ever were about to die, or saw your friends die, or almost died, you might think differently. That your video game, computer aged life might actually isolate you from the spiritual side of life that so many people have no feeling for. I will tell you this, there is a "good" and an "evil". Make fun if you want to, but when you are alone at night near death, you might change your mind.

I'm being sarcastic. I don't know what will happen to you. Faith is just that, faith. Something you believe in. Like your wife is not screwing the mail man while your at work, or that the Browns will win the Super Bowl. I believe in God. I believe in an after life. Don't hang someone because of there beliefs. You know no more than they do. I at least have faith, what do you have?

No one truly knows if there is a god or an afterlife. As far as I know god has never been quoted saying that either exists. I'm content with doing whats right and leading a respectable and enjoyable life. I just have more free time on Sunday.

People that don't believe in that stuff are mentally stronger than those who do. Way stronger.

They can look themselves in the mirror and respect themselves for having the courage and intelligence to say "I don't know whether any of it is true."

It takes a ton of courage and intelligence to live like that. A lot of people simply can't do it.

The anger from "non-believers" doesn't come from not having a God or any of that. People that believe in all of it are actually pretty amusing. The anger about it comes from living in a society that lives by fairy tale and outcasts those who don't believe. It's pretty frustrating.

Most of the non-believers can live a quality life and be a good person without doing it because they fear a place called Hell or the wrath of an invisible man.

If religion really were a private thing, people wouldn't give a damn what others believe in or don't believe it. But it's not a private thing because people use it to give meaning to their lives, so anyone who is different they have to criticize. Not discluding myself.

Those times when your about to die, or whatever, and you suddenly become a believer? That's called fear and weakness. And only the strongest, in those times, can overcome it and still stick to logic.

I laid on an operating table when I was 8 in surgery for about 15 hours. Should I still be alive? Doubt it.

Am I thankful for what health I have? yes.

Does it mean I'm going to pretend that I know it was an invisible man? No, I'm mentally stronger than that.

It's called science.

When you're in the fifth grade live way out in the country on a farm, and the ice over the spring shatters and you fall in while trying to break the ice,

and you struggle trying to get out, but you can't.

and later, you are shaking violently, and you think
you may get pneumonia.

and you are yelling desperately for help, while knowing no one can hear you

and later, you almost aren't cold anymore and nearly fall
asleep, and you realize you're under water.

and you totally panic and thrash violently, screaming for
God to save you, and you realize no sound is coming out

and you fear your family finding you there...

and you're all alone, it's 5:30 in the morning and they're still sleeping, and you're 75 yards down in the woods, and Chico, your family's burgundy burro, is on the other hill in the barn where this once, you left him instead of leading him to the spring first like you always usually do...

except this morning, because it was a record cold temperature...

and you know God is there, but you wish you could hear His voice rescue you...

and you feel the hot air and whiskers from Chico's white muzzle next to your eyes, and you cry and stick your unmoving fingers inside of his halter, and he pulls you out and you survive...

you REALLY KNOW God is there.

If it happened to you, you'd understand far more than now, perhaps.

I'm with Preacher.

Thanks, Chico, Buddy. I love you still, pal.

Wow, a completely condescending "My beliefs are better than yours" post from Dawg, I really didn't see that one coming.....

Did anybody else?

He's always been so objective and fair minded when it comes to religion I'm not really sure where all this is coming from...

Dawg....

I refuse to believe that rejecting faith is somehow courageous.

How is it courageous to set yourself up to be able to say... naaaa... I don't really believe that all the time. How is it courageous not to set a definitional foundation in your life which demands more of you than your own choices and wants?

And I know you will probably be shocked to hear this, but spare me the martyr complex.

MILLIONS of my brothers and sisters die because of the faith I hold to. Not just in centuries past... but today. In China, Africa, the middle east, all over the world. I have been moved around in jobs and lost out on perks because of my faith.. because of stands I have had to take.

Please, again, spare me the martyr complex for not having faith in something.

How many people do you think prayed to god on 300th floor of the world trade center on 9/11.

I will never pray for god to do me a favor. He wont or cant. Stuff happens. So if you can explain to me why that happened to you and my little brother was born with a disease that killed him 5 days before his 5th birthday Im all ears. God really wanted a baby to never be able to walk or eat? Then let him die leaving his familys life upside down and stuck with the medical bills. This nearly killed my father becuase he wanted to drink that pain away. He wasnt a drinker before but God works in mysterious ways.

Bad stuff happens to good people and vice versa. If you give credit to God for the good make sure take his cruelty with it. If that is your God then I want no part of him.

Im happy you had that experience it makes for a good story but I cant believe God said let this kid who is playing on thin be saved but **** this fetis.
