Hard to find a tougher litmus test as to who we are than facing "America's Team" week 1 (not to mention the Steelers in week 2). I have Dallas being the NFC representative in this years Super Bowl. We've made major strides with strengthening our line up, and the game is at home. That being said, will it be a win or a loss when we utter "how bout dem Coyboys" Monday morning?

I'd rather be nailin' Sarah Palin

the Browns will be capable of beating anyone this upcoming season. I may have said that last year as well but not with nearly the confidence.

Our D is going to be much improved and can hang with Dallas'. where we have the advantage is the weapons that we have offensively and special teams. Slight advantages but we are at home in the opener.
This one is a win.

I think we are capable, at least on paper. But in reality I have to tell you I'm gonna be nervous. I really hope that the Browns come together and accomplish a great season. But until I see it, I'm gonna be nervous every game.

This game and the entire season are on the shoulders of the QB position.
We match up well with every team right now and as long as we get consistent play at QB the sky's the limit this year.

I think QB is part of it, but not even all of it. The Defense is a big question mark. Injuries another. QB is only one card of many.

I don't think the offense is much of a question mark.

Really, it's all about the new defense and if they can pressure the QB and stop the run.

If the defense plays well then the sky's the limit.

The offense is already good.

Dallas is the best team in the nfc.. We need and A+++ game to win this one. Definately cannot turn the ball over more than 1x if we have any chance in this one.

There's not much room between the Browns and the very cream of the NFL crop (hence only a 3.5 point spread). I think the line will close tighter than that, in fact, like 2 points.

Like someone else said, the Browns can win any game they play this season. Period.

Lum's point is pretty valid especially first game of the season. It wasn't all Charlie's fault last year in the first game (although it is convenient to think so).

Just like going to a dance with brand new shoes on, it's gonna hurt like hell the first time. Hopefully the learning curve on D is nothing like Chud's changes to the offense last year and the new additions catch on quickly.

From the sounds of it, the changes have actually been to simplify some things and just get back to basics like wrapping up and gang tackling.

If the three men up front contain the o-line as planned, this D could be pretty scary.

We will be 2-0 to start the season.

I'd say that about every HOME game. I won't count out the Browns in any home game. Dallas, NY Giants, Indy, bring em on!

Team was 7-1 at home last year.

But only 3-5 on the road.

On the road @ JAX looks like the real doozey to me. Toughest game of the year IMO.

DA had 19 ints and 2 fumbles lost last year. Romo had 19 ints and 2 fumbles lost last year. Sounds like a push to me. Maybe you've got a thing for Romo's cock?

Anyway... I'll give the edge to the Brown's for keeping nearly every game they lost last year to a single TD, despite having a weak D and a new offense that only had a few weeks of practice in the system. This year they'll be more experienced, had a full offseason of practice with the starting O together, and look to have a much more solid D coming into the season.

Not to mention, in my book the favorites tend to lose a lot more games the first game or two of the season than later in the season. I think the Brown's are ripe for a pretty decent year. They'll win a couple of games against some tough teams that many here will expect to lose going in, will clobber a cellar dweller or two, but may lose a few to teams of varying strengths and everyone will use DA as scapegoat if he's the starter.

So exactly how many picks would DA need to throw in a game for one to be able to point to him for the loss without making him a scapegoat? 5? 6? 10?

Sorry, but the suggestion you make in that post is utter bullshit. DA's WTF interceptions and airballs cost us some games, plain and f**king simple...anyone outside of Oregon can see that.

DA had 4 multi-int games this last season... not good.
Playoff QBs Farve, E. Manning, Rivers and Young had 5-6 multiple int games each in regular season, only two full season starters in the playoffs had fewer than 2.

Quarterbacks tend to hit their prime in their 30's, DA will turn 25 soon, which is younger, often much younger, than all the playoff quarterbacks this last year but Young. People here are comparing him with quartrbacks 2, 3, 5, 8, 10, even 14 years his elder who've had all those years to absorb the NFL game (and still have multi-int games).

How many of the Playoff Quarterbacks were in the first WEEKS of a brand new offense for the entire team this last September. I don't think I even need to check, but please do and let us know. It is quite conceivable that with experience in the offense, experience in the league, more starts under his belt, and having receivers that are more experienced in the offense the Browns run, that DA could potentially change that 4 multi-int game stat into 3 or fewer, and more importantly, turn those two 4 and 3 int games into lower numbers.... which would not be out of line with the very best this league has to offer.

My guess is that he'll probably still have 2 to 4 games with multiple ints, maybe even one of those will be a 3 banger, but hopefully the 4 int days will be past. He's young, and he's already shown much more ability than many of the yahoos on the board have ever thought he had. He'll improve, as will the team as a whole.

Defense wins Championships. Just ask New York.
